I am an old member of the forum- a veteran you can call...😆 but have left the forum after few months of the end of the show. I do peep in from time to time to see how my home is doing but have never posted anything for a long time. I read this post and I couldn't stop myself from commenting.
I have never read Mishri/Nibir stories before- of any of the writers. I comment here as a fellow writer- and just as a writer.

I do understand the disappointment of you Niya when you don't get the required response from your readers- but I can never agree that the readers are to be blamed here. Readers have their own personal choice. They can like original stories, copied ones, good ones or bad ones. It's their choice. Please don't judge or doubt the credibility of the reader. I have wrote stories about NAUC in this very forum. Very few read it but there was a humongous number of readers for Nibir/Niraj ones. Should I say those readers lack knowledge about the quality of reading just because they aren't reading mine? Each reader has their own personal choice. If a reader stops reading- that just means the reader has lost interest in our stories. It would be completely unfair of us as a writer to say we write stories for you and you haven't read it.

A writer should know who his/her target audience. You write keeping them in mind. But you should always write for yourself. Your writing should make you happy. Please don't say- I write for you, I put loads of efforts for you and you don't appreciate. I don't think that's right. You write because you love writing. Now if you are quitting, it just shows writing isn't your passion and you write just to receive appreciation. You can request for feedback/criticism but just request. You can't force someone to give a feedback. Opening a topic asking if one's work is good is going to receive only positive feedback. The underlying meaning of not receiving the expected response has to be understood by oneself. I am saying this just not for you- but for every one of the writers here. I am not an accomplished writer but I am just sharing my views as a fellow writer.

I feel- saying I am quitting- is more like a warning or a threaten to the readers. Do you think the readers who have left would run back? I don't think so. We have to focus more on our writing and improve our skills and capture the readers through our writing. If some other story/article gets more response and you feel it doesn't deserve it, that's your opinion just like the way each and every one of the readers have their own opinion.

Interests fade. I loved NAUC but if you ask me now- it's just a show which I used to watch regularly. Likes and dislikes fluctuate. It can't be constant. You have loyal readers. Entertain them with your writing. And when it's good, you will automatically attract more readers.

Please ignore if you didn't like something I said. I just wanted to share my opinion. Keep writing.

Shweta I understand but these readers are really not speaking what they want.. this is happening since months now... Writers are copying other stories and are being appreciated for that, this is what irked me🤔

Why should you get irked yar? You focus on your writing alone. Read others if you like but focus on yours. Just take the writing industry itself- We have Chetan Bhagat, Durjoy, Preeti Shenoy and the kind...we also have Ashwin Sanghi, Amish, Ravi Subramanian and the kind...and several great foreign authors. There are many readers and appreciation for the former compared to the latter. That doesn't mean the latter should feel disappointed. Their work has its own place.

Now- one may actually love Chetan Bhagat's writing but I don't...he wouldn't care in losing a reader. Same goes with the other lot.

I am speechless with shock...
Niya first of all since the time I came to know that you have a son.. Well your image in my mind has become as that of a mice sweet aunty (I am so sorry)
Now as I read this, it was as much of a shock... C'mon Niyu (I hope I can call you that) you can't let yourself being discouraged... See I'll tell you what I as a reader feel... I agree plots are sometimes copied but like everyone it is usually in a writer's initial days... The imagination needs a boost... So they need encouragement... Now about the other writers those who are experienced... Well you guys have had a set frame of mind... You guys are actually amazing...

The forum has new readers.. I suggest you keep writing.. Add some epilogues and show them what you've got... Keep writing... I am sure you'll get the appreciation you deserve...
And ya... Your old friends won't be exactly thrilled to hear this 😉 Do it for your K Khaandaan

P.S. I ain't taking any side... I am satisfied till everything's peaceful in this forum.. It has memories 😊

P.P.S. I completely agree with Shweta 😳
