Chapter 4 - She is different*** (Kabir's POV)
I was spellbound by the beauty of the house. It was an extra-extra large palace afterall.
"Kabir agar iss ghar ke baare main kuch bhi jaan na ho toh Nisha ko bolna. Woh pura tour de degi." Saurav whispered in my ears.
"Sirf Nisha kyu?" I eyed him suspiciously.
"Kyunki woh iss ghar ke baare main sabse zyada jaanti hai.." Saurav replied.
"Baaki sab..." My question was left incomplete due to sudden music. It was like an opera. To my surprise almost 50 people appeared at the big gate of the palace. Shrey quickly ran to a group of girls who were almost the same age as me and Saurav.
"Bua!!" Shrey said as he hugged three girls one by one.
The one who seemed the eldest was dressed simply but had a sweet smile. When she looked in their direction she had a shy smile.
Wait. Why is she shy? Oh... She must be Dolly. Thinking so I nudged Saurav who slightly blushed.
"Baap re.. Shaadi hone waali hai toh tu toh pura ladki ban gaya. Blushing and all haan.."
Saurav punched me on the shoulder "Chup hoja Kabir. Tera bhi number aayega" saying so Saurav grinned.
A girl whispered something in Dolly's ears. She was dressed in a night gown, her hair in curlers. A younger girl in large, round specs showed her tongue to the curler one to which she made a face. Saurav's saalis.
Saurav nudged me to which I replied with a scowl "Kya hai?"
"Kabir saamne dekh. Dolly ke parents aur ghar ke baaki bade hai. Toh please meri izzat rakh aur unhe dekh na ke ladkiyon ko..."
"Saurav ke bacche..."
"Namaste uncle, Namaste aunty" Saurav quickly said to prevent my frustration.
"Namaste beta.." An old man replied with a smile.
Saurav bent to touch their feet. I, Raj and Isha did the same. One by one the touched feet of almost 10 people each one giving them different kinds of blessings. Saurav stood straight. We followed his lead.
One of the servants came with an Aarti Thali and a short lady did their aarti.
Seeing my confused expression Saurav thought it was best to introduce everyone.
"Aunty yeh mera bhai Raj, mera dost Kabir aur yeh uski choti behen Isha." Saurav told everyone. "Aur yeh hai Daadaji, Daadiji, Viren uncle, Vimla aunty, Mohan uncle, Roopan aunty, Ramesh uncle aur yeh Laxmi aunty."
"Namaste.." I had a nervous smile. All the elders smiled back at me. It was so scary. A dozen people showing bright teeth in dark night. Wait how did they have so bright teeth. Must be having diamonds instead of teeth. I mentally giggled at my own thought.
The Gangwals then had a small reunion with Umesh, Aman and Shrey. The elders were happy to see Shrey. Well anyone would be happy to see their Great-grandson or grandson.
Suddenly Dolly and her sisters appeared out of nowhere.
"Hie Jiju..." The two girls exclaimed.
The elder one looked at Kabir questioningly and then at Saurav.
"Oh yeh... Yeh mera dost Kabir, yeh mera bhai Raj aur yeh Kabir ki behen Isha" Saurav introduced us "Aur yeh hai Dolly..."
"Haan haan aap toh Dolly Di ko hi sabse pehle introduce karoge na..." The elder one pouted. Dolly glared at her while Saurav looked away in embarrassment.
"Chalo hum sab bade so jaate hai... Tum bacche baat karo aur fir thodi der main so jana..." Ramesh uncle said. Wait was he Ramesh or Mohan... No he was Viren uncle. God big families are so confusing.
"Ramesh Chachu aap bhi na... Hum aaj jaldi kaise so sakte hai?" She frowned.
"Kyu? Hum aaye toh tum log sone nahi waale?" Saurav grinned.
"Ji nahi Jiju... Aaj usse bhi zada important baat hai..." The younger one smiled.
"Accha baba jaldi mat sona par zada late mat karna... Kal tumhe jaana bhi hai na..." Ramesh uncle said. All the elders retired to the night. When they left the servants followed leaving the gate like a flow of water. All empty at once.
"Toh yeh hai Kirti aur yeh Jwala..." Saurav finally completed his introduction. Did he? Nah...
As soon as those words left his mouth a guy came with a bat in his hand followed by a younger kid.
"Yeh bat lekar kyu aa raha hai?" Kabir asked confused.
"Pata nahi..." Saurav frowned. He questioningly looked at the sisters but the seemed as clueless as him.
"Sukku... Yeh bat kyu laya hai?" Dolly asked him...
"Dolly Di, Sukku Bhaiya woh saare white chaddar jhatak rahe the... Kal chahiye na... Bade kaka ko toh karne nahi de rahe the... Keh rahe the aap se na ho payega.." The kid said and made faces.
"Arey Di... Woh Bade kaka age main bade hai par size zero hai unki. Dhang se chadar nahi utha pa rahe the. Usse jhatakte khaak..." Sukku bursted into laughter followed by the cousins.
I, Isha and Raj looked at them in confusion while Saurav smiled.
"Yeh joke tha?" Kabir whispered in Saurav's ear.
"Abhi nahi samjhega tu.." Saurav smiled at Kabir. Saurav was already on their side. I felt like an outcast and am sure Isha and Raj did too. But those two had a company. What about me? I would have better stayed in Mumbai. Atleast I would have mom over there.
"Umesh Bhaiya... Nishu kahan hai?" Dolly asked. Nah... Dolly sounds weird. Dolly Bhabhi asked. Yes... Perfect.
"Puch mat Dolly... Iss Saurav ke wajah se usse shak ho gaya..."
"Kya?!" All of them shouted. I had to close his ears to prevent them from damage.
"Dolly Di ab to main pakka marunga..." Sukku said his expression turning grim.
"Kya jiju... Mujhe shaadi tak zinda nahi dekhne kya?"
"Aisa kya kiya maine?" Saurav asked.
"Woh actually Saurav..." Dolly Bhabhi started to explain but was interrupted. "Hi Dolly Di..."
"Hi Nishu..." Dolly Bhabhi smiled nervously.
"Arey Sukku... Tu cricket khel raha hai" Nisha said with sarcasm dripping in her words.
"Nahi Nishu... Woh main..."
"Chal zara... Mujhe tujhse kuch bohot important baat karni hai..."
"Arey Nishu... Kya hai.. Dekh ghar par guests aaye hai... Chod na woh sab.." Kirti said. I am sure she were trying to save her brother. But Nisha didn't seem dangerous. I mean yes she is very high-tempered person. That is visible but god knows what they had done that they were so scared.
"Haan haan... Chalo... Aaj hum sab ek dusre ko acche se jaan lete hai... Taki fir kal se hum bohot enjoy kar sakke..." Sukku tried to prevent Nisha's wrath.
Nisha glared at him and her cousins.
"Aap sab log jao main Shrey ko sula kar aati hun..." Aman said.
"Aap sab bhi jaa kar fresh ho jaiye... Main sab ke liye coffee bana kar lati hun." Dolly Bhabhi smiled and walked away dragging Kirti and Jwala.
"Nishu guests ko room dikha de" Sukku said and ran away. Umesh and Aman left with Shrey.
"Bunty tu mere saath chal... Paagal Sukku... Mujhe pata bhi nahi ki inke liye kaunsa room hai.." Nisha grunted.
We four followed her quietly.

"Yeh Isha tumhara kamra..." Nisha said.
"Par Nishu Di yeh toh Kaira..."
"Bunty Kaira aaegi toh woh mere saath rahegi.." Nisha ruffled his hair.
"Par agar yeh kisi aur ka kamra hai toh Isha ko dusra de do... Itna bada ghar hai tumhara..." I said casually. Oh cum'on they have such a big house and so many servants. Can't they give Isha another room.
"Main Isha ko ek accha kamra de rahi hun jo usse definitely pasand aayega... Rahi baat dusre kamro ki toh woh second ya third floor pe hai... Usse upar-niche karna padega... Uss kaam ke liye toh tum ladke ho na.." Nisha answered with no interest.
Kabir gave a 'whatever' look to her while Isha giggled.
"Tum fresh ho jao... Thodi der main Kirti ya Dolly Di aa jayegi... Fir sab unke plans ke hisaab se hi hoga..." Nisha gave her a weak smile.
"Ok..." Isha smiled back.

Next Nisha gave Raj a room.
"Nisha... Main aur Kabir room share karenge.." Saurav said to my surprise. Seems he remembered about me afterall.
"Kyu?" Nisha asked.
"Tumhe koi problem hai?" I asked.
"Oh please... Mujhe koi problem kyu hogi?" Nisha snapped at me "Bunty tu inn logo ko inka room dikha main apne room main jaakar fresh ho jati hun."
"Nahi Nishu Di..." Bunty said. His expression was clear that he was scared. Why was he scared? God knows.
We three were shocked at his sudden burst too.
"Mera matlab hai mujhe kuch kaam yaad aa gaya... Inn ke liye woh saamne wala kamra hai ya fir woh Daadaji ke paas wala kamra hai..." Saying so he ran off.
"Isse kya ho gaya?" Nisha wondered.
"Tumhe dekh kar darr gaya..." I explained while Nisha glared at me. Why does she glare at me all the time? It is so scary. "Aur haan hum saamnee wala kamra lenge... Tumhare Daadaji ke paas wala kamra nahi"
Nisha had a faint smile which was quickly replaced by no particular expression. This girl was giving me goosebumps.
We walked to the room at the end of the corridor. She opened the room with one if the keys from a whole bunch she had. Was she the jailer of the house?
"Yeh aap dono ka room"
"Aap?" I was shocked with the respect she gave.
"Whatever.." Saying so she walked off. I stared at her retreating figure. She is different.
*** (Nisha's story)
Nisha was about to enter her room when Kirti came in between.
"Nishu yaar chal na... Hum sab adde par ja rahe hai."
"Kirti mujhe fresh toh hone de." Nisha pleaded.
"Nisha yaar kya fresh hona hai tujhe."
Nisha was shocked. Was this Kirti who always gave her lessons on staying clean and god knows what?!
"Par Kirti... Main thak chuki hun.. Tum log baitho main so rahi hun."
"Aise kaise so rahi hai..." Kirti said with hesitation.
"Kya gadbad hai?"
"Gadbad? Kaunsi gadbad?" Kirti looked away.
"Kirti tu mujhe..." "Arey Nishu, Kirti... Tum dono yahan par ho... Main tumhe kab se dhund rahi hun. Chalo jaldi" Dolly said and winked at Kirti which Nisha didn't fail to notice. The cousins were upto something for sure.
Dolly grabbed their wrists and dragged them to their 'adda' the storeroom in the back lawn which wasn't a storeroom after Nisha turned three. She, Dolly and Umesh had ventured inside and turned it into their adda. Their secret meeting place and what not. All this was unknown to the elders till Sukku had told them in his excitement. He had got nice scoldings from the cousins. Jwala and Bunty weren't a part of the group then but they had got as much secrets to share.
