Hey everyone! 😊

With the news of NAUC going off air, I wanted to ask-

Whose fault is it really?

Star Plus' or the audience's?

I think the audience is more to blame than the channel. What is a channel's purpose?
It gives profits to the producers and entertainment to the viewers. SP at least gave NAUC a chance by putting it on air at a prime time slot, but it is the audience which is not ready for a change in TV programming.

Demographics of the Audience:
The TRP audience mainly comprises of housewives or women in the >30 demographic and their families. Until they start giving shows like NAUC a chance, it's not gonna matter what the channel does. After all, every channel is here to make profits and why wouldn't they keep NAUC on air if it was profitable?

NAUC is simply not profitable for SP because the audience is not watching the show. So, I feel like NAUC going off air is more because of the audience than SP. This is not to blame the audience, I'm just pointing out that audience tastes need to change for urban, youth-centric shows like NAUC to work.

NAUC is a simple, homely and heartwarming show about an urban girl and her family. It's not regular saas-bahu fare and it was bound to suffer on the TRP charts because viewers don't want to watch such shows. Just look at what happened to Sony, a channel that always tries to experiment and bring new content to the fore.

IMO, shows like NAUC will not work till the audience changes.

Very nicely pointed out. And I don't think audience are going to change. NAUC is aired at a time slot which are ruled by women above 30. Hence SP has to air the shows at a time slot where youth can actually watch, which is at a earlier time.
Having said that...It's definitely difficult for shows like NAUC to survive and compete with heavy illogical drama shows. But it has to be given good time to wrap up. The show is definitely popular and deserves to end on a high note.

Thank you. The audience might change in 30-40 years when today's youngsters reach that age. 😆

@bold- Important point. I think not many young people are watching General Entertainment Channels (GEC), 'cause they wanna avoid the regular saas-bahu fare. I wonder why their numbers are so low. They have just shifted to English shows or other options.

I think the show will go out on a high note because NAUC has always been fun-filled and fresh. All's well that ends well. 😃

Yes u r right to an extent...most of today's generation do not watch real time television...and the ppl who do watch r not frm today's generation ...NAUC being an urban youth show is not something the majority of audience who watch tv can digest...such shows can only survive on youth oriented channels like channel v...but NAUC was yet not just a youth oriented show too it was family oriented equally...the truth was NAUC was nevr "family" enough to be able to fit in SP and it was not "youth" enough to fit in a channel like v...our audience is not ready to digest this factor
but SP do have a part in it going off air...the first mistake was giving it a prime time slot when they knew the show was experimental one and its not exactly trp material...NAUC wud have defenitely faired well in an evening or late night slot...the other mistake by the channel was that they nevr promoted the show enough...for the past few months it was like the show never existed in the channel ...no repeats no promos etc...so there are faults frm channel's part

@bold- I completely agree with this. NAUC could have done well on Channel V or MTV maybe. Those are youth-oriented channels and there would have been space for the NAUC family there.

As for SP, I think they had planned to pull the plug on NAUC for a long time and the lack of promotions, repeats were because SP never planned to have NAUC on air for long. SP experimented with NAUC by putting it in a prime time slot, but soon decided to axe it. Although, maybe it would have done better at an earlier slot like 6 pm or 6.30.

Unfortunately all viewers are not counted. Only very few homes are accounted for by the TRPs. There are many who are watching this show but do not get counted as viewers. I don't expect the typical TRP viewers dominating the 8:30 slot to like shows like these especially when they can switch the channel to watch something more suitable to their tastes. Maybe the show might have done better in one of the earlier time slots... those time slots do get comparatively lesser TRPs but I guess there is lesser pressure for TRPs in those slots. I don't think this show would have done well in a youth channel... atleast not the Gangwal family parts of it. The show would end up being about various love stories for Nisha aur uske cousins if it came in a youth channel and there would be no focus on the Gangwal family as a whole the way we see it here.

Anyways this show did have a different flavor compared to other regular shows. I am glad that it ran for this long without completely deviating from its essence. Considering the kinds of shows on air these days, its good that a show such as this was given a chance for this long...

Also, a lot of younger viewers tend to watch the shows online. if they don't watch on the SP website, then they're not counted in the ratings either.

Recently NAUC was also a sas bahu drama..

Because I thought Lila ji is the most pathetic saas in the TV industry.😆 The Queen of over acting🤣

If you say out of the box show then they are : Maan Marjiaa, Tere Sheher mein, Reporters.
NAUC was an outstanding show, before, but recently it was also a saas bahu dramaa...

May be yes it is a sus bahu time slot. Then why they did not change just time slot? Why they change the story itself?
If NAUC would change time slot and would stick with original concept, then there was chance to sustain.
But NAUC could not keep it's original story line recent days.
I still miss, Rithesh kidnapping , during Dolly's marriage track. That was the most hillerious plot I have ever seen in Indian Television.

Now Basundhara ji and Nisha story... don't you think it is also a saas bahu dramaa.. nothing better?
Sorry to say, NAUC was different, now it is a saas bahu drama indeed.

LILA + DOLLY
BASUNDHARA + NISHA
SAAS + BAHU + taane +tounting+...+politics + cooking = NAUC
= YRKKH= DABH=SNS
🤣🤣

MAAN MARJIA , Reporters...door door taak koi saas bahu nehi hein..
👏 Hope iss loog bhi raastha bhatak na jaye, NAUC ki tarah..

The real reason nauc went off air i feel is coz the creatives couldnt handle the story. Nauc strted wid such refreshing content. It did have good trps, nt great but good trps until the EWF track. That was the time the fanbase was building up.
Nauc was still a baby and the makers just forced majority of the fans to leave the show by creating unnecessary( unnecessary n my opinion, dunno what was behind the scenes) changes in the storyline.

The fanbase for nauc was never strong enough, in my opinion for a primetime slot especially on a channel like star
plus. The fanbase consists of youth, who majority of the time dont get to watch the show on tv at 8.30. No matter how crazy a fan u r, u cant jst leave all ur other work just to watch a show on tv.

So the makers made desperate attempts at improving trps by introducing such illogical content which obviously did nt appeal to ppl who loved this show owing to the very reason that it was a unique show. Frankly, i being a niraj fan would watch the show regularly even after kabir's entry, hoping for some improvement...but it went on getting worse n nw i dont even remember the last epi i watched. Nauc has become a saas bahu drama too, unfortunately, and the creatives cannot handle it, simply because this is nt the nauc audience loved.

I don't know about how that high TRP is coming up for other shows... I never watched YRRKKH or SNS...yes I am 41 and watching NAUC from starting...and yes I loved the show...One more show like this died years before in mid story.. "Sajda tere pyaar mein"...it was about "Deshprem" ...that one ended abruplty ...like this one, too. I missed that show ...and when I knew about NAUC.coming up. finally.I was happy to watch something i liked...but will not last longer?
That's true - that saas watches only saas bahu sagas (to get tricks how to handle bahus,...ha ha)...where DIL and MIL are always coverd in heavy trditional sarees and lots of jewelries ...I never wasted my time after that.
