Before she could set her foot on the banana skin that Suku had dropped before leaving the room, he got a grip on her waist and turned her around. He supported her weight as they went down together. "Are you ok? His voice sounded genuinely concerned. "I am ok." She managed to say softly trying to regain herself from the shock of falling. "How did you cover the distance so fast? I mean you could not even stand steady on those skates." She asked him suspiciously. "I am a dancer Nisha we are creative people knowing how to skate is nothing new. We try different things with dance. As far as your plan to drive me out goes did I tell you I am a master in that game." He gave her a wicked smile. Nisha was appalled that Kabir had played all along and she was foolish enough to think that she was getting away with the plan. He tucked her hair behind her ear and winked at her. "Never underestimate your opponent Nisha. That plan with the cousins is not going to work. Three down four to go. I'll win all their hearts" He lifted his head closer and whispered in her ear "You included".Now I don't mind if you intend to lie down like this" she observed how carefully he held her. Pouting she struggled to get up. "I don't want to get married right now. You go down and tell Maa and Papa that you don't like me. If you don't I'll not spare you" she hissed. Kabir didn't utter a word. He winced while removing the skates. Nisha could see a bruise on his foot. He got into his shoes and limped his way out. "Wait!" she called out to him. "Sit down your hurt" she pulled out a first aid box from the drawer. She signed and supported him to the bed when he didn't budge. She extended her hand to remove his shoe. Kabir caught her hand. "Don't Nisha. I will remove it." "This will hurt a little" she warned him before applying the ointment. He was not sure if he shuddered at the application of the ointment or at her touch. She felt guilt wash over her as she observed his face twisted with pain. She closed the bruise with a bandage. "Let's go down" Kabir nodded and they walked out silently. "What happened" Laksmi panicked watching Kabir limp his way down the stairs. "I told you Nisha was upto something, I can decipher every expression on her face." Ramesh jibed Lakshmi. Kabir could feel Nisha stiffen next to him as Ramesh glared at her. "It's nothing Aunty I missed a step on my way down and sprained my leg" Nisha breathed a sign of relief. "Come sit" Ramesh helped Kabir to the sofa. "So what do you think Beta? Do you like Nisha?" Ramesh asked waiting in anticipation to his answer. Kabir's face hardened. Nisha was confident it would be a no. Kabir didn't answer for a while. Lakshmi started to fidget with the beads of her pallu. "Yes I like her" Kabir said firmly. Nisha's head jerked to face him. She stared at him wide eyed.

"I need time to think" Nisha blurted out before Ramesh could ask her anything. Ramesh looked at Kabir for his opinion. "I don't mind uncle let her take her time" "Ok then let Nisha show you Jaipur tomorrow. You will get some time together." Nisha opened her mouth to protest. Ramesh shot her a warning look. "Nisha go help him till the door" Nisha got up reluctantly cursing under her breath. "It's ok Uncle I'll manage" "I insist beta" Kabir bid good bye to them and walked to the door. "I asked you to say a no. I told you to tell them you didn't like me" Nisha was fuming now. "That's the problem sweetheart you told me. You didn't request me. If you would, I may have thought about it." She scowled at him. "First of all I am not your sweetheart. Secondly requesting you for something never!" "Ok then, suit yourself. See you tomorrow would be wifey" he gave her an evil grin and left before she could react on that.
