Chapter 5

*Next morning*

Kirti- (from the living room) Nishu, chal...

Sukku- Nishu, I am getting late dude, come fast...

Kabir- (annoyed) Nisha, come on yaar, kitna make up karegi?

As their eyes fell on the stairs, their jaws dropped. Nishu was back! Nisha Gangwal was back. Nisha hadn't worn a dress as usual, but had worn a blue t-shirt and white jeans.

Nisha- Chale?

There came no reply as all were still staring at her in shock.

Nisha- (slapping Sukku) Oye, chale?

Sukku hugged her happily followed by Kirti. Nisha smiled at her siblings and they went leaving Nisha and Kabir behind.

Kabir- (smiling) You are looking beautiful.

He walked away and Nisha looked at his retreating figure. One thing was sure that he wasn't bluffing, because his eyes showed sincerity. She had never heard praises when she dressed like this, infact, people had been telling her to change. Maybe, Kabir was different!

They walked in the college happily. Today was really different. Sukku went to his friends, while Dolly joined them.

Nisha- Dolly, I want to tell you something.

Dolly- (nonchalantly) What happens?

Nisha- Dolly, from 2 years, I and Viraj were dating.

Dolly- (shocked) Kya??

Nisha- But we broke up day before yesterday.

Dolly- (loudly) KYA????

Nisha, Kabir and Kirti closed their ears. All in the canteen looked at her in confusion and shock. Nisha told her to lower her voice.

Dolly- (angrily) Tum aur Viraj date kar rahe the, 2 saal se, break up hua, aur mujhe aaj pata chal raha hai? Nisha could how do you this?

Nisha- dekh Dolly, all that is past, main sirf tumhe bata rahi hoon... Chill kar yaar.

Dolly- How the hells you are accepting me to chill?

Kabir- (confused) Kya?

Kirti- She meant to say, how the hell are you expecting me to chill?

Dolly- Haan, wahin.

Kabir- Oh... (Explaining to her) relax yaar Dolly, Nisha bol rahi hai naa, ki its past, aur past ki cheeze past mein hi acchi hoti hai... Waise tumne aaj Nisha mein change notice kiya?

Dolly- Ya, she wearing jeans, instead of dress, pehle ki tarah...

Kabir- So you see, she is moving on, aur jitna space hum usse denge, she'll be better.

Dolly- (guilty) Sorry yaar Nishu just shocked.

Nishu- It's ok.

The next 2 weeks, cousins, Dolly and Saurav got their Nishu back. Impatient and prankster yet adorable and caring. She and Kabir jelled up well and played pranks on others while Sukku too started to trust him. The sight of each other made Nisha and Viraj cry but they held on to their support, Kabir and Kaira respectively.

Sukku- Pehle main wish karunga...

Umesh- Main bada hoon isliye I'll wish first...

Kirti- I am her sister I'll wish first...

It was 11.56 pm. They were standing infront of Nisha's door, arguing who will go first and wish her on her b'day. But the b'day girl had forgotten all about it, locked the door and was enjoying a peaceful sleep. Kabir looked at the cousins, Saurav and Dolly arguing, he went in his room.

Nisha heard a loud thud sound, and opened her eyes hurriedly. Kabir was standing infront of her with a big smile plastered on his face.

Kabir- (hugging her tightly) Happy B'day Nisha...

Nisha - (broke the hug) Thanks. Par inn lagon ne tumhe kaise pehle andar ghoosne diya?

They heard someone knock the door. It was locked.

Nisha- (confused) Agar darwaza locked hai, toh tum andar kaise aaye?

Kabir looked at the window.

Nisha- (shocked) Window??? Tu paagal gaya hai? Agar gir jaate toh?

Kabir- Chillax yaar, go open the door.

She opened the door, and all 5 screamed together, "Happy B'day Nishu" hugged her. Kirti gifted her big collage which she and Saurav had prepared while Sukku gifted her bike she wanted. Umesh gifted her Iphone 6 and Dolly had baked a chocolate cake for her.

They all entered the room and were shocked to see Kabir there.

Sukku- Tu ander kaise aaya?

Kabir- (casually) window se.

Dolly- (shocked) WINDOW SE???

Kabir- Tum logon ki problem kya hai, bol toh aise rahe ho, jaise maine kaha ki main Mt. Everest climb karunga. Anyways, Nisha chal birthday cake cut kar.

Nisha cut the cake while others sang for her. They clicked selfies, covered Nisha's face with cake, danced and sang. Nisha dad called her and her mom, dad, chachu, chachi and Jwala wished her. Messages were pouring in her cell. Nisha smiled a real smile after 2 weeks.

They entered the college. Many wished Nisha. She entered the conference room, where the Student Council was supposed to have a meeting.

Sports Secretary- Happy B'day Nisha.

Nisha- thanks.

All wished her, except Viraj. Nisha looked at Viraj but he avoided her. The meeting began and after sometime ended. Kabir met her at the door of the conference hall. She was sad and avoided him and went to the canteen.

music [Kabir followed her in the canteen]

tu hai to tedhi medhi rahein,[ all others present looked at him in shock while Kabir went and sat near Nisha] ulti pulti baatein seedhi lagti hai

[joined Kirti and Sukku who were dancing] tu hai to jhoothe muthe vaadein, [Saurav was about to hit him]

dushman ke iraade sacche lagtein hain [he avoided the slap]

[Held Nisha's hand in his]

jo dil mein taare vaare de jaga, woh tu hi hai, tu hi hai

[tried to make her dance]

jo roote roote de hasa tu hi hai wohi

[She was about to move away but he tightened his grip on her hands]

jaane kyun dil jaanta hai, tu hai to I'll be all right

[danced with her and left her]

jaane kyun dil jaanta hai, tu hai to I'll be all right - (2)

[Nisha sighed and shook her head in frustration]

*Music*
[Sukku pointed to Viraj, Kaira and others in the canteen]

saari duniya ek taraf hai,

[and then to himself]

ek taraf hai hum

[Saurav and Dolly side hugged her]

har khushi to door bhage, mil rahein hai gum

[Kabir signaled her to smile]

but when u smile for me, world seems all right
[Kirti smiled at her]

yeh meri zindagi pal mein khil jaaye, jaane kyun

[Kabir pulled her for a dance again]

jaane kyun, jaane kyun dil jaanta hai, tu hai to I'll be all right

[They did basic Cha-Cha-Cha steps. Viraj looked at them in anger]

jaane kyun, jaane kyun dil jaanta hai, tu hai to I'll be all right

[Nisha smiled at their efforts and sang]

[others smiled and joined her]

[Saurav went to Nisha and danced with her]
chhote chhote kuch palon ka dostana yeah

[Dolly pushed Saurav and hugged Nisha]
jaane kyun ab lag raha hai jaana maana yeah

[Kabir went to Nisha and tickled her. She laughed]
cos when smile for me, world seems all right
yeah saare pal yehi yuhi tham se jaaye, jaane kyun

[They shared a group hug]

[All in the canteen (except Viraj and Kaira) cheered for them as they all hi-fied and partied for the success of Make Nisha Smile' Mission]

Principal entered the canteen and was shocked to the chaos.

Principal- (angrily shouting) Yeh sab kya chal raha hai?

All became silent and stared at the ground.
