CHAPTER-3
Nisha and kabir were in the terrace. Both their moods had improved a lot from the talk in the terrace. They had faint smile on their lips. They had promised each other that they would face their marriage together; they still didn't really want it to happen and were hoping for a miracle.
"Yaar u are very lucky , u know why? U have every one dadaji dadi, two pairs of aunts and uncles, an army of cousins, two brothers a great mom and even cooler dad.
"No yaar Kabir it's really not that lucky. You just saw how being accidently married even if it was for saving your life will get you in trouble with ur great Indian family. But most of the times its fun I guess." Said Nisha
"Are u kidding me yaar, look how fun it is, so many people all the more entertainment, gosh how I wish I was in your place, so many siblings to plan mischeifs , celebrate festivals ,fool around or chill with." Nisha could pick out the wishful tone in kabir's talk. She wondered if Kabir had anyone other than his mom in his growing up years maybe that's why he is too friendly with everyone. Nisha realized that Kabir wanted to be the part of everything becoz he doesn't want to be left alone. He wants to make maximum no. of friends so that he won't be alone in life and she finally understood why Kabir talked to her when they first met in the Velvet longue. He had understood that she was feeling the pain of rejection abandonment and loneliness; he wanted to make her free of these feelings and had genuinely wished she'd smile.
"You r going to be a part of it soon remember and u can have fun with my cousins too , if they let u in that is."Nisha said with a smile.
"REALLY?? Yaar thank u so much ...we r going to have so much fun Kabira style."
Nisha smiled at his fist pump and child like antics."Now get up Kabir it's getting late, I don't want people to see us together at this time of the night"
"But why yaar? We r getting married technically we r already married. Cant a man romance his wife in the moonlight in this house" Asked Kabir with his goofy grin."A man surely can but a boy cannot and u are a kid Kabir."Nisha said with a smirk and turned to leave. She was yanked back by kabir his hold on her waist. Nisha was shocked. Kabir's hands on Nisha's waist held her tightly and he was very close to her their lips were almost touching. Kabir's intent gaze increased the intensity of the situation. "Who is the boy now wifey?" Kabir asked with a smirk. Nisha was still in the state of shock when Kabir took back his hands and moved away from her. Kabir was laughing very hard at Nisha's state. Nisha snapped out of it and began beating him and he began to cry out.
"You are so k Kabir!!."
"You are just j of my k nisha." Kabir said winking. Nisha was simply mad now, she just walked off. Kabir ran after her. She went down the stairs
" I am sorry yaar nisha plsss don't be mad.Pls pls pls pls pretty pls" Kabir said while holding his ears. Nisha simply can't resist Kabir's cute act. This guy is going to be the end of her she thought. "All right nautanki I forgive." They were in the hall now and while nisha was talking Kabir noticed that someone was sitting there in the dark. The person had not noticed their presence in the hall , with a little squinting kabir figured out that it was Nisha's dad. Nisha followed his gaze and found her dad sitting on the couch in the dark his head in his hands. It broke her to see him like this knowing that she is the reason of his sorrow the source of his heart break. Kabir guessed her line of thought.
"I think u should talk to him." Nisha shook her head in denial, she had tears in her eyes
" Nisha from the few days I have spent here one thing I am damn sure about is that if anyone loves u unconditionally in this house it is that guy sitting over there and even though it was never entirely your fault he had to go through so much today in your name. You owe him an explanation Nisha and u know it."Said Kabir in a serious tone.
Nisha nodded and approached her dad she knelt in front of him and gently placed a hand on his hand."Papa..." Ramesh looked up Nisha saw with tears that he had that defeated look in his eyes which he had always worn after an argument with dadaji Nisha wondered if he talked to dadaji about the marriage.
"Arrey Nisha beta what are you doing here at this time of the night go and sleep..." Nisha cut him off
"Papa were u crying? "
"Arrey no beta I was just lost in thoughts"
"Lies don't suit u uncle". That's when Ramesh noticed Kabir behind Nisha. "Kabir..." He looked back and forth between Nisha and Kabir "what are u two doing out of ur rooms at this time of the night?"He asked suspiciously.
"woah its really not what u think uncle...u r misunderstood... Kabir began fumbling with words
Nisha at the same time was also rambling.."Papa what r u thinking...we r not...i am not...i mean"
"We are just friends" They both said at the same time and looked at each other.
Ramesh laughed lightly." I was just asking guys, I know u both, I know u won't do anything wrong."His tone softened." Besides u r getting married anyway."
"Papa I am sorry...i am sorry that u had to go through so much...I am sorry for being a bad daughter to u and maa...i am sorry I didn't tell u anything" Nisha said breaking down. Ramesh came up and hugged her he was also in tears. Kabir stood there watching the scene smiling lightly.
"I am sorry too beta that u r forced into this marriage...that u have to go through this sacrifice your happiness and personal freedom...But u were never a bad daughter Nisha...if it's possible I am even more proud of u now for your bravery and the things u did for that little girl...u and Kabir did the right thing then...But beta u could have told me na about all this...maybe we could have found a way through this mess...the two of u could have been free."Ramesh said gently stroking her hair.
"I am sorry papa...but we never took the marriage seriously in the first place...we acted childishly. Nisha confessed looking towards Kabir . Kabir nodded his head in agreement.
"But now u have to marry...look at u two... u said so yourself u r kids...marriage at a very young age that too forced...I can't let this happen to u two."Ramesh said a little agitated.
Nisha took a deep breath. She had decided what was best. She can't give anymore burden to her parents and ruin the family name. Her family had gone through some pretty bad phases in the last few months all becoz of her now she had to end this. Moreover she needs to move on. Viraj Singh Rathore ws her first love but he can only be her past something she would like to forget. She looked at Kabir. An understanding passed between them. Kabir smiled as if he approved of her decision. It was amazing how well he understood her in such a short time and even more amazing how he had decided to stay with Nisha's decision. He was literally giving his life to her.
"Papa I know that u feel we r trapped, that it is not the best decision to get us married...But look at the circumstances, I need to do this to save the family name which I myself lost...i can't make u go through any more fights with dadaji in my name...I myself has to move on from my past and stop dwelling on them...If marriage is the solution to all these problems, I don't see why it should not be opted...people say a husband should also be a best friend...look how lucky I am, my best friend is my husband. I have decided to marry Kabir" She looked at Kabir. He smiled in approval.
"It is true that we r not in love with each other and this is a marriage of convenience but for all its worth I am happy papa. I am happy with the prospect of getting married to him than anyone else. It's not like we r the first people to get married like this, arranged marriages happen all the time. Let's think of this as an arranged marriage with the perk being the bride and groom are real friends."Nisha finished smiling up at her dad.
Ramesh looked at Nisha for a while then he wiped his tears and said."My daughter has grown up . you have today shown maturity and understanding with your decision beta. I believe in your decision." He smiled and said "Go get married."Nisha smiled and hugged Ramesh.Kabir stood by them and smiled.Ramesh tirned to kabir.
"Kabir, look after my daughter well. On second thought be careful of my daughter don't ever get on her bad side you will suffer badly. It's a piece of secret advise man to man." He winked at Kabir
"Papa,...Nisha began in a warning tone
"Thanks uncle". Kabir smirked and said. "I promise I will make sure that there wont be a boring day in our married life."He winked at Nisha. Nisha smiled sarcastically and stepped on his foot. Kabir cried out "aww aww...see uncle what ur daughter is doing to her husband."Ramesh simply laughed shaking his head, maybe Nisha was right in her decision to marry kabir he thought
"Kabir beta don't call me uncle ok? From today u should call me papa."Ramesh said with a smile.Kabir looked at him shocked for a moment. He had in his entire life never had anyone to be called papa, today he had a papa. Kabir smiled teary eyed and said "Yes... papa."Nisha looked on smiling while Ramesh hugged Kabir.
