Chapter 4: Sunshine

"How have you been Miss Nisha?" asked Viraj.

"Very well sir" Nisha said with a smile which her eyes did not reflect.

"So you found out a way to re-open the academy?" inquired Nisha, "You didn't tell anyone then, Will you tell us now?"

"Yes, back when I was at the top of my shooting career, I was offered a place in an international sports brand 'Quester', I was supposed to represent them and also head a sports club sponsored by them which was mainly famous for shooting" explained Viraj, "I had turned down the offer then because I wanted to concentrate on my shooting and Lakshya Academy"

"Yes that did come in news, that you had turned down a big offer" spoke Nisha remembering about it.

"And they had reported what a fool I was to do so" Viraj laughed lightly.

"But what has that got to do with the current situation?" Nisha asked. She wondered if they had again offered him the same and he had accepted! Did he just come back to say Goodbye and permanently settle in London looking after the other sports club?

"It has everything to do with the situation, I have been with them for the past three months" said Viraj.

Nisha's suspicion was solidifying... Why in the world did she bother coming to meet him in the Academy! He had come to permanently shut it down... How stupid she was to believe even for a single moment that there was still hope atleast for her Shooting career!

She didn't want to join anywhere else, the cousins had forced her to go to another academy once, she had gone too... But it was all so mechanical there, no one really felt strongly about it, there were so many Shekhars and Priyankas there and no Viraj or Saurav to encourage. They had mocked Nisha initially, however, on the ground by her hitting the bull's eye on every shot the trainer was impressed and wanted to coach her... But she had bothered coming to the shooting range just to prove her point and had no interest in staying. And from then on she was firmer in her resolve of not joining anywhere else. Lakshya Academy felt like home, whenever she was here she felt like she belonged here, and not being able to do anything for it made her feel defeated!

"Congratulations Sir, So when are you leaving?" asked Nisha, her voice and face both expressionless.

Viraj looked confused for a moment and then it hit him. 'She's thinking that I have accepted their offer and am going back!' he realized.

He laughed "I'm sorry Miss Nisha I wasn't very clear, I have been out of the shooting range for quite a long time, they weren't still offering me to be their brand ambassador, and even if by some silly chance it was the case, I would still have refused!"

"I was with them because I was trying to convince them to take Lakshya Academy under its sponsorship as well! It was my father's dream, and a platform for potential shooters in our country, I couldn't just let it go!" he explained further, "I was always on good terms with them and thought I could take a chance to try and convince them, I wasn't sure of the outcome or how much time it would take because of which I did not speak of it to anyone!"

Nisha felt numb, she did not know what to feel, "And the outcome was?" she asked.

"They didn't agree at first and it took a lot of time but I was able to convince them!" Viraj spelled it out for her.

To say Nisha was happy would be an understatement. But she just smiled and asked "When can I resume my practice sir? I've already lost a lot of time and the tournament is nearing"

Viraj smiled back, "You can start right away Miss Nisha"

And she dashed off to get things ready for the practice.

Viraj looked at her as she went. She was an amazing person. He felt bad that he had had to break her heart by rejecting her. But he loved Aarti, and there was nothing else that could have been done. And Nisha seemed to have moved on with her life anyway, which was good.

He remembered Aarti's last email. He had been planning to tell her that he loved her, to tell her that it was the best feeling in the world to be able to share his thoughts, his worries and his happiness with her. And then he had seen her last email and his heart shattered into a million pieces...

"Viru, I really am very happy for you. I am sure the girl you love would be someone really special and would make you happy.

There is something I want to tell you, I am someone you have already met. I knew what a great person you are, I wanted to be your friend, and then by mistake I came across a letter you had written to your mother and I thought maybe you could use a friend too.

Everyone needs to share their feelings and thoughts with someone, and now you have found someone real in your life, and that makes me truly happy!

But I do not wish to reveal who I am and continuing like this feels like cheating, you don't even know whom you are revealing your secrets to!

You deserve to be with the person you love and share your thoughts with her, She is your life's reality and I am sure she would take away all the loneliness from your life and fill it with bliss.

I am sorry for cutting you out like this, I am probably not being a good friend, but this is better than you finding out who I am and thinking I fooled you into revealing all your secrets to me, I better not know anything more. If possible do forgive me.

She hadn't even given him a chance to reply, to tell her that he didn't care who she was, that it was she whom he loved truly and deeply!

He wiped a tear that was building up in his eyes and saw Nisha sprinting to the ground with all the equipments.

He smiled. Maybe it was his punishment for breaking the heart of such a pure hearted girl that his heart was broken in return. He watched her preparing to shoot and prayed to God with all his being that she get someone who would love her, appreciate her and keep her happy...

He was used to this lonely life already, he just had to add Aarti to the list of people he had loved, lost and would wait for his entire life, he mocked himself. But Miss Nisha deserved someone who matched her in all her kindness and love.

"Sir" said Saurav breaking Viraj's flow of thoughts.

"Ji Saurav boliye" Viraj turned around.

"Sir ye Neil hai" Saurav introduced Neil, "Nisha aur mera bachban ka dost, I had a word with you earlier about him, office me ek position temporarily khali hai because Kartik immediately wapas join nahi kar payega, so he would like to fill in"

"Neil, It's a pleasure meeting you, aap apna c.v. saurav ko de dijiye, hum sham ko aapka interview le lenge" said Viraj to Neil with a smile, "Waise jitna Saurav ne humein aapke baare me bataya hai humein lag raha hai it would just be a formality"

"I hope so Sir" Neil gave a bright smile, "Its really great meeting you in person finally!"

Viraj and Neil liked each other instinctively. Viraj nodded and went to his cabin.

"Chal Nishu ko bata dete hain nahi to phir sadegi ki she was the last one to know about it" remarked Neil and they dashed off towards the ground.
