Much needed discussion, and if I may take the liberty to say this, in possibly the best forum on the site to have this discussion. People here can be objective rather than having a fan war and getting the thread closed.
Basically it boils down to censorship, what do you let through and what you don't. i personally am not in much favor of censorship. Be it curse words, or negative opinions. Negative opinion is an opinion too. If the posts are judged on worth, I think they should start removing the worshiping posts that add nothing of value. A clearly reasoned opinion, be it negative, should have a place in this age.
Now as to what is tolerable. Let's take this Samosa and Kakdi issue. First of all, none of us invented the word. The characters have been nicknamed these in the show itself. So, it's pretty dumb to not let us say that. The nicknames are used in the show with quite love actually. That's like we can't call Ginny Ginny, but we should call her Gurwant(that's her name, right?)
Next level is making fun of characters. Ask me, I am fine with it. We all make a little fun, have a laugh. I don't think anybody is being vindictive about anyone. Just a little leg pulling and harmless humor. Same is with the actor. Although, I doubt we ever make fun of actors. But if it is a little joke, it should pass as okay. People are too uptight these days. Some even consider mimicry to be insulting. A laugh in good faith never harms anyone.
Now, would only be fair to look this from the POV of admins. The thing is all of this could be healthy humor if you have, let's just say, wise people doing it. But when running a whole site with so many members, it will be foolish to expect everyone to behave properly. The ease with which this can be abused is what makes them put a strict stop to this. People only making fun of actor of other "fanbase", then the other camp retaliating and so on. And healthy humor can turn into spitting venom in no time.
As to criticism, a healthy criticism is the best thing for any person. Only praise doesn't give you the room for improvement. No negative opinions will mean the thing is perfect, which we know isn't the case. If you don't call out the people and show when they go wrong, qualities will fall drastically.
Now ,as to what could be done. First of all, rules should be relaxed or tightened per forum basis, keeping the environment in the mind. Ours is a pretty relaxed one. Samosa and kakdis should be allowed, that's a no brainer, as they are used on the show itself. As to making fun of character in other ways, if it isn't hate, allow it once in a while. And the same people shouldn't react when their favorites are targeted. If people could just stop getting butthurt, and just have a laugh and forget it, it's all good.
