Navya woke up to find Anant's arm firmly around her. She sighed knowing she wasn't about to get up any time soon. She looked at Anant, who was sound asleep, and smiled. She leaned over and kissed him on the cheek. Anant stirred in his sleep but didn't wake up. she kissed him again on his cheek, letting her lips linger and travel to his ear. She felt Anant's arm tighten around her. He pulled her on top of him. 1
"What were you doing?"he asked, still in a sleepy haze.
"Nothing," she said sheepishly.
"Mmmhmm sure."she said skeptically.
His fingers brushed against navya's back, which was left partially bare from when Anant had undressed her last night. He'd only unzipped the dress of her salwar kameez and pulled it lower so that her shoulders were bare, but it was enough to make him go wild. He let his hand slip through the unzipped part and under the fabric. He started caressing her back. navya shuddered at his touch.
"I love waking up to you in the morning." Anant said, kissing her neck softly.
He noticed that navya hadn't adjusted her clothing and her shoulders were still left bare. His eyes traveled down her neck and over her shoulders, resting on her chest. He desperately wished he could see what was behind her clothes, but of course that wasn't about to happen. she looked down, trying to figure out what Anant was looking at. She rolled off of him and pulled her salwar kameez back into place as she sat up. She felt Anant's hands move around her waist.
"Do you need me to zip you up?" Anant whispered into her ear. He started to nuzzle her neck. He slowly pulled the zipper up and laid she back down. He positioned himself on top of her and continued to kiss down her neck.
"Anant, we need to get out of bed. It's noon." she said, pushing against his chest.
"No," Anant said, simply.
"But," navya protested.
"I said no." Anant stated firmly, gently biting down on her neck.
she flinched and tried to pull away, but Anant was having none of that. He pulled her arms above her head and trapped them against the bed. He started kissing her neck again, sucking on it before moving lower. He hugged her body and placed his head on her chest, using her as his new pillow. she accepted defeat and laid there beneath Anant
Suddenly, Anant's phone rang. she smiled, knowing that Anant would have to get off of her to answer it. Anant groaned and lifted himself up. He picked up his phone from the nightstand and laid back down on the bed this time beside navya.
"Hello?" Anant said a little too forcefully.
"Anant! I need your advice!" Hiten said frantically.
"What kind of advice?" Anant asked. He looked over at her, who was about to get up. He quickly grabbed her hand and pulled her back onto the bed. she gave him an angry look to which Anant replied with a smile.
"It's Aditi." Hiten said. "I need your help."
"What did you do this time?" laughed Anant. He tightened his grip on navya's arm.
"I didn't do anything. Why do you always think I did something?" Hiten replied, sadly.
As Anant listened to Hiten, he saw navya climb on top of him. He gave her a questioning look, trying to focus on what Hiten was saying, but she ignored him. She placed a kiss on his neck. +
Yeah, I'm listening." Anant said into his phone, watching navya suspiciously.
She sprinkled kisses all over his bare shoulders and chest. Anant took a deep breath, trying not to give in to navya's attempt to distract him. She looked up at him and gave him a sly smile. Her kisses moved lower on his body. She kissed along his tight, muscular abs. Anant tried desperately to stifle a moan.
"Hiten, you're gonna have to do better than that." Anant said into his phone. she looked up at him as he spoked but resumed kissing his body a moment later.
"I'm coming over." Hiten stated.
"No! Now...isn't a good time." Anant stated.
navya's hand grazed against the skin near Anant's waistband. He knew if her hand traveled any lower, he'd need her to finish what she started, and he knew she wasn't ready for that. she left a lingering, wet kiss along Anant's abs. He could've sworn he felt her tongue on his abs for a brief moment.
"Get over it. Ten minutes." Hiten said, hanging up abruptly.
"Dammit, navya. You're killing me." Anant said, throwing his phone to the side and grabbing his wife.
"Let me get out of bed or I'll do worse." she said seriously.
"Do worse?" Anant raised an eyebrow.
navya moved closer to Anant, leaning against him so that her lips were against his ear.
"I can do a whole lot to you," she said, looking down briefly, "or refrain from doing things to you. Either way, I'll have your body aching for me, but you won't get me."3
"Damn." Anant whispered.
"I'm devious." navya stated, climbing off of Anant.
"Sinfully devious." Anant corrected.
she got off the bed, and Anant allowed her to. She picked up her veil, which had landed on the floor after Anant snatched it off last night. Anant pulled on a shirt as he watched her. He stood up and followed she into the walk-in closet.
"Why don't you wear something sexy today?" Anant said into navya's ear. She could feel his body behind her. His hand was lightly placed on her waist.
"I don't have anything like that." she said, looking down.
"What about these?" Anant pointed to the pair of jeans Payal had secretly bought for navya.
"No," she said simply.
"But," Anant protested.
"I said no." she giggled, using Anant's own lines against him.
"Well played, navya." Anant smiled. "Wear a sari."
"Why?" she asked.
"Because I've never had the opportunity to take off a sari, but tonight...I will." Anant smirked.
"If you think you are, you're wrong." she challenged.
"Am I, now?" Anant retorted.
"You're not going to get another night like last night for a while." navya said.
"Fine." Anant sighed. He'd promised her he wouldn't bother her about this anymore, so he accepted navya's decision.
He chose his clothes and went into the bathroom to freshen up and change. she decided to take a shower afterwards, so anant went downstairs to see that his staff was doing what they were supposed to be doing. He'd given them many days off while he was busy romancing navya. He didn't want anyone around to interrupt them and intrude on their privacy. He saw that his maids were cleaning the downstairs quite efficiently. The chef had already prepared breakfast.
Anant heard the doorbell ring, followed by very anxious knocking, or rather, pounding on the door. He knew it was Hiten. His butler opened the door, and Hiten rushed into Anant's mansion.
"What took you so long?" Hiten said to the butler. "Anant! I need help!"
"What's the matter, Hiten?" Anant asked in a flat tone, clearly uninterested.
"Aditi, she doesn't love me." Hiten stated.
"How do you know that?" Anant asked.
"She just doesn't." Hiten replied.
"You just think that." Anant said.
"No! Maybe...I don't know. Anant, I really love her." Hiten said, smiling.
"I can tell." Anant replied, happy for his best friend.
"I...want to marry her." Hiten admitted.
"What? Seriously? Hiten, I can't imagine you married." Anant said in disbelief.
"I couldn't imagine you married either, but look what happened!" Hiten retorted.
"Good point." Anant commented. "So when are you proposing?"
"I don't know. I don't know if she's ready, you know. That's why I need your help. The proposal has to be perfect, and no one knows how to woo girls better than you." Hiten explained.
"Woo girls? I don't woo girls." Anant defended.
"Uh huh. Sure." Hiten rolled his eyes.
"Okay, we'll work on the perfect proposal...but Hiten, I don't think she's going to say no. She's crazy about you, and you know it." Anant smiled.
"Sir, the mail is here." Kamla came into the living room and placed the mail on the table beside Anant.
"Thanks, Kamla." Anant said as he started looking through the mail.
"You think she is? I hope she is." Hiten said.
Anant paused as his eyes landed on a fancy looking letter. He curiously opened it, trying to listen to whatever Hiten was saying. His curiosity was overtaking his attention, however.
"Shit!" Anant shouted after reading the letter.
"What?!" Hiten screamed and started looking around him like someone was about to jump out and murder him. 5
"I...just got a damn paper cut!" Anant said.
"What the hell? I almost had a heart attack!" Hiten said. He grabbed Anant's hand and started examining his finger.
Anant pulled his hand away roughly.
"When did you become my wife? Healing my wounds is navya's job." Anant said sarcastically.
"Of course, Bhabhi can do what I can't." Hiten pouted.
"And what's that?" Anant asked unsurely, not really wanting to know the answer.
"Kiss it and make it feel better. If I did that, Bhabhi would divorce you, and Aditi would dump me." Hiten grinned. 3
The two of them broke out in laughter.
"Hiten, I'll make sure you make such a great proposal that Aditi is going to want to marry you the very next day." Anant said sincerely.
Hiten's face lit up. He knew his best friend was the only one who could help him. He knew Anant was the only one who'd be able to understand how intensely his feelings for Aditi was. Hiten had a sneaking feeling that Anant was in love.
"Thanks! I know you will." Hiten said. "By the way...why wasn't right now a good time for me to come over? I used to just show up but now I have to inform you?" Hiten said, sarcastically.
"I...Well, you know..." Anant was at a loss for words. "You fool! You know why!" Anant exclaimed.
Hiten burst out in laughter.
"Idiot! You think I wouldn't find out! You're in love. It's so obvious. You've been in love for a while." Hiten said.
"How do you know?" Anant said, surprised.
"It's written all over your face. Every time you looked at Bhabhi when you were in the hospital, any idiot with half a brain could tell. Does Bhabhi know?" Hiten replied.
"I told her last night." Anant admitted.
"Oh! Last night..." Hiten wiggled his eyebrows. 4
"Hiten! Nothing happened!" Anant said.
"Sure sure whatever you say." Hiten said slyly.
"Hiten," Anant said. "She loves me too."
"What? Bhabhi has no taste!" Hiten chuckled.
"Shut up!" Anant said, laughing.
"Okay, I'm heading out. I have some planning to do." Hiten stood up.
"Yeah, we'll plan at work too. Aditi will be beyond impressed." Anant said, smiling.
"I'm happy for you. I never thought I'd see the day that Anant bajpai fell in love." Hiten smiled back. 2
The two best friends said goodbye. Anant was eager to go back upstairs back to her.
"navya!" Anant called out as he walked into his bedroom.
navya who was busy making the bed, turned around to face him.
"Hiten is going to propose to Aditi." He blurted out.
"That's wonderful!" she exclaimed.
"Wait, that's not what I needed to tell you." Anant continued. He was reluctant to show navya the letter, so he'd accidentally told her Hiten's news instead.
"What do you need to tell me?" she asked, interrupting Anant's thoughts.
"Umm...well...I just got this letter." Anant said, holding up the letter he'd just received.
"What does it say?" she asked.
"Read it." he handed it to her.
She took the letter and scanned over its contents. After a moment, she looked back up at Anant with a smile.
"This is great news! Anant! You're going to be awarded for your philanthropy efforts." she commented.
he frowned. How could navya not see the problem here?
"What kind of philanthropy are they talking about?" she asked, puzzled.
"I have nearly fifty agencies all over that help women who are in a bad situation. My father started the first one. We helped Kamla through it. I decided to expand it. There are even a few in America. It's nothing really." Anant explained.
"Anant, it's not nothing. You're doing such a nice thing. You're helping thousands of women and their children." she replied. She walked up to him and kissed him softly.
She started to walk back to bed, but Anant pulled her back to him. He kissed her more passionately. Her arms wrapped around his neck as he pulled their bodies closer. she pulled away to take a breath.
"I'd help a thousand more women for another kiss like that." Anant smirked.
navya looked down, blushing. anant sighed. He took the letter from navya's hand and held it up.
"Look at the date of the awards ceremony." Anant said, pointing to the bottom of the letter.
navya looked at the letter again. Her eyebrows furrowed. She looked back at Anant.
"It's the same day as our anniversary." she stated. 9
"Not only our anniversary but our first anniversary." Anant corrected.
"We can always celebrate afterwards."navya suggested.
"navya you're the woman in this relationship. You're supposed to be telling me that our first anniversary is special and I should be planning something amazing. Yet here you are, completely fine with going to an award ceremony instead of spending a romantic evening celebrating our anniversary." Anant complained.
"It is a special day, Anant, but you have to go to this awards ceremony. If you need a whole day to celebrate whatever you're planning, and I know you're planning something big, we can always do it the day after." she said calmly.
"It's not the same." Anant pouted.
"Anant don't be a child." Navya said.
"Let's skip it." anant said.
navya rolled her eyes.
"You can't just skip it. They're awarding you for your contributions to society. It won't look good if you don't accept your award in person." she reasoned.
"But navya, I don't want to." Anant whined.
"Anant ;; navya said seriously. "Please attend the award ceremony. For me."
Anant couldn't argue with her after that. He had to go now. He'd do anything for navya. He sighed in defeat.
"Fine. Whatever you say," Anant conceded, "but I'm not happy about it."
"I can live with that." she said, pecking his lips quickly.
She finished making the bed and was about to head downstairs to have some breakfast. Aanant grabbed her from behind unexpectedly just as she had approached the stairs. She let out a surprised gasp and instantly grabbed the banister. Anant spun her around and practically dragged her back into his bedroom, closing the door behind him.
she looked at him, clearly annoyed by his actions. She waited for him to explain himself. Anant took a step closer to her. she stiffened but didn't move back. He leaned in closer. His eyes traveled from her face down her body and up again. navya's gaze followed his. He started walking around her, making a full circle before facing her again.
"I don't like what you're wearing." Anant stated.
"What? I always wear sarees." navya defended.
"Take it off." Anant demanded, smirking. 6
navya gasped at Anant's bluntness. She took a step back, hoping he wasn't planning on helping her take anything off.
"Anant" she said, unsure what to make of his demand.
"You're too covered up." Anant said, referring to her long sleeve blouse and skillfully wrapped turqouise sari that revealed absolutely no skin.
"I..." she said nervously.
"I want to see more of you." Anant said, enjoying navya's discomfort immensely.
"Umm..." she was at a loss for words.
"I thought I told you to dress sexy for me. Are you really going to disobey your husband?" Anant challenged. He stepped closer and trapped navya between his body and his bed. He placed each of his arms onto the bed and leaned forward, kissing navyas cheek and then her neck.
"Anant," navya said quietly.
He stopped to look at her. She was smiling mischievously. +
"I'll dress in something sexier." She stated. 3
Anant was surprised she'd actually agreed. He was just teasing her.
"Just remember one thing." She said. She brought her lips closer to his ear.
"You aren't the only person in this house." She whispered wickedly.
Anant cursed under his breath. He had countless members of his staff in his house today. she knew that Anant's jealousy would get the best of him. He wouldn't be able to stand the thought of others seeing her dressed more provocatively.
"Dammit, navya You've gotten so good at this." Anant commented on her fiesty remarks, moving back so she could have more room.
"I think I'm spending too much time with you." she giggled, walking away from Anant.
He grabbed her hand and pulled her backwards. She slammed hard against his body.
"I beg to differ. I don't think you're spending enough time with me." He said quietly.
she smiled at Anant. He let her hand go, allowing her to finally go downstairs to have breakfast.
"Let's take a trip abroad for our anniversary...like a late honeymoon." Anant suggested at the breakfast table.
navya frowned and shook her head.
"I don't want to travel." She said.
"We could always to go a restaurant, but that's boring as hell." Anant said flatly.
"Anant, whatever you plan will be great." she smiled.
"I could buy you a restaurant or a hotel or a sports car." Anant suggested, grinning widely. 6
"There's no need to be extravagant." she said.
She didn't like the thought of Anant spending so much money on her. She liked when he did simple things. Their first date in a forest, and their night on the beach were exactly the types of things navya liked best. She loved being with him, just the two of them.
"navya, I'm a multi-millionaire. Being extravagant is in my nature. It's my lifestyle!" Anant defended.
"I'm going to feel guilty if you spend a lot of money, Anant. You wouldn't want that, would you?" she pouted slightly.
"If you keep making faces like that, I'm going to have to come over there and kiss you in front of everyone. And I don't mean just a peck. I mean a lingering, passionate, wet kiss that'll make your heart race." Anant smirked, eyeing the maids, who were just out of earshot.
navya's eye widened and she couldn't stop herself from blushing. She came up with a fiesty response that she could've thrown back at him,but she was afraid that he'd actually come around the table and kiss her in everyone's presence.
"I think you're late for work." she said, getting up from the table.
"I can never be late for work. I own the whole damn company!" Anant smiled.1
"Bye, Anant." navya said, in a hurry to go back upstairs.
"Where's my goodbye kiss?" Anant said, sadly.
she stopped immediately. She slowly turned around to face Anant. She looked around. There were so many people around them, doing various chores. Anant took her hand and led her into the kitchen.
"Leave." he said simply.
The people in the kitchen looked confused. They paused for a moment, unsure whether to continue working or just drop everything and leave the kitchen. The chef started shouting for everyone to get out. He looked at Anant and then navya, trying to hide a faint smile.
Once they were alone, navya was the one to take control. She pushed Anant back a few steps so that he was against the counter. She stood on her tip toes and pressed her lips to his. He leaned a little lower so she wouldn't have to strain so much to reach him. His arm went around her waist, pulling her closer. navya felt Anant get ready to deepen the kiss and broke it immediately.
"Bye, Anant." She said with a smile.
He looked pleadingly at her, wanting to kiss her again. she simply walked away, out of the kitchen and back upstairs. Anant watched his wife go, knowing that if he followed her upstairs then he'd have to break his promise to Hiten. He looked down at his watch. Hiten must be waiting for him. Anant sighed and left for his office, wanting nothing more than to stay at home with navya.
"Finally, you're late." Hiten declared as Anant stepped out of the elevator once he reached the highest floor in his office.
"I'm here though." Anant countered.
"We need to plan!" Hiten started whining.
"Hiten, do you honestly think the caliber of your proposal is going to have that much of an affect on her answer?" Anant asked.
"I don't know. I want her to be impressed. Don't you do big things for Bhabhi just because...you're you?" Hiten replied.
Hiten had a point. Anant had just offered to buy navya anniversary presents that cost a million dollars without any hesitation. He paid a fortune to rent out a private beach for her without a second thought. Aditi better get used to grand gestures and expensive outings because Hiten and Anant are exactly the same when it comes to how to romance women.
"Well, yeah, I guess." Anant said, knowing Hiten was right. "Did you ask her father for her hand in marriage?"
Hiten's eyes widened. He froze in shock.
"People still do that? I didn't think people still did that!" Hiten started to freak out. 1
"Hiten! Breath! Calm down." Anant said calmly. "Have you met her parents? Do they live here?"
"I've met them. They visited her once. Damn! They live in another state. Should I fly over and ask permission?" Hiten asked.
"Uh...yeah." Anant answered. Obviously, asking permission was a considerate gesture. Hiten would have no problem flying to whatever state Aditi's parents lived in. Something like this shouldn't be handled over the phone either.
"Great! Another thing to do." Hiten sighed. "Doves!"
"What the hell?" Anant responded to Hiten outburst.
"I can have doves fly out after I ask her." Hiten explained.
"Why the hell would you do that?" Anant said. "What if they attack her or you or fly in the wrong direction?"
"Okay...no doves. Decorations for sure. Flowers?" Hiten replied.
"Definitely." Anant replied.
"White..maybe red?" Hiten asked.
Anant and Hiten paused her a second, looking at each other.
"Both." They said in unison. Why not? Hiten could afford it.
"How are you going to ask her?" Anant asked after they'd planned a few more details about the venue.
"Aditi, I love you. Will you marry me?" Hiten replied without looking up from his plans.
"That's a load of shit! Come on, Hiten. Be more romantic. Tell her how much she rocks your world, and you know you can't live without her." Anant said.
"Oh. My. God. That's the main thing! These plans, flowers, decorations, and whatever mean nothing if the actual proposal sucks!" Hiten realized.
"Calm down, you'll be fine, and she'll say yes." Anant said calmly.
"I should get an arranged marriage like you did." Hiten pouted.
"Hiten, I got lucky with navya. I love her now, but when I married her, I dreaded being with her. We lived apart from each other despite being under the same roof. Not loving her and being forcibly married to her drove me to make the biggest mistake of my life. Now that I realize that I've fallen in love with her almost a year after we got married, I couldn't be happier, buy you're luckier than I am. You're going to marry the woman you already love. When you see Aditi as your bride, you're going to fall in love with her over and over again. Right after you get married, you're going to be unbelievably happy that you get to spend the rest of your life with the woman you know you can't live without. I didn't get with navya. You have no idea how lucky you are." 9
"I think I'm going to cry." Hiten commented, acutally looking like he was holding back tears. 8
"Man up!" Anant punched him lightly on the shoulder.
"Anant," Hiten said, "am I going to end up as sappy as you after I get married?"
"Hiten, you're going to be much worse." Anant replied, laughing. Hiten gave Anant an offended look, but then broke out into laughter himself.
"Gimme your phone." Hiten said, reaching over and taking Anant's phone from his coat pocket.
"Well, okay. I guess you're taking my phone." Anant comment, not even trying to stop Hiten.
"Hello?" Hiten said into Anant's phone. "Bhabhi, it's Hiten. I need a favor."
"Why the hell are you calling navya?" Anant asked, a little too forcefully.
"Aww thanks, Bhabhi. Looks like Anant can't keep a secret." Hiten looked at Anant and stuck his tongue out childishly.
"It wasn't a secret." Anant replied even though Hiten wasn't talking to him.
"Well since you know about the proposal, I could really use your help." Hiten said. "Can you invite Aditi over and ask her what her dream ring would look like?"
"Using my wife for your gain." Anant commented spitefully.
"But Bhabhi, be subtle. She doesn't know anything, and I want it to totally be a surprise." Hiten continued, ignoring Anants comment.
Hiten listened to navya's reply. He looked unsurely over at Anant.
"Of course he's helping me plan." Hiten said into the phone.
Hiten's mouth dropped open. His eyebrows shot up. Whatever navya said had Hiten completely shocked. He regained composure after a moment.
"Thanks, Bhabhi! You're a life saver. Talk to you soon. Bye." Hiten said. He hung up and handed back Anant's phone.
"What did she say?" Anant asked, wondering why Hiten looked so surprised a moment ago.
"She said she'd love to help, and I have nothing to worry about." Hiten said casually.
"Why'd you looked so surprised?" Anant asked, skeptical that Hiten was leaving out some details.
"She asked me if you were helping me plan out my proposal, and I said of course." Hiten continued.
"And what did she say afterwards?" Anant asked.
"She said if you're helping me plan, then Aditi will never see it coming because you're the king of surprises. Anant, what kind of surprises is Bhabhi talking about?" Hiten asked suspiciously. 3
Anant knew Navya was hinting at their dates an celebrations along with the surprise presents he'd periodically given her. She saw none of it coming.
"I don't know what you mean." Anant answered slyly.
"Surprises...like turn the lights out and hide behind the plant surprise birthday party kind of surprise? Or ten surprising ways to heat up your sex life kind of surprise?" Hiten said wiggling his eyebrows.
Anant couldn't even keep up with that sentence. He thought for a moment about what Hiten was insinuating.
"No! The first one, definitely the first one! I took her out and where we were going was a surprise. God! Get your mind out of the gutter." Anant chastised. 6
"I was just asking...geez." Hiten said, trying to hold back his laughter.
There was a knock at Hiten's door.
"Come in." Hiten said, trying to sound serious.
"Sir," Hiten's secretary opened the door. "These papers need your signature and yours as well, sir." She said, turning to Anant.
Hiten sighed and made a face at Anant. No matter how much they hated it, they had to get back to work.
Navya called Aditi as soon as she got off the phone with Hiten. She was ecstatic that Hiten wanted her help. She wasn't sure exactly how to go about asking about Aditi's perfect ring, however. Aditi said she was free today itself and was on her way over.
There was a knock on the door, and she rushed forward before the butler could even make a move.
"Aditi!" navya exclaimed, hugging her friend.
"Hey, girl. How's it going?" Aditi greeted.
"Terrible." she lied.
"What happened?" Aditi asked, taking a seat in the living room.
"It's Anant."navya blurted out. Where was she going with this?
"Did that jerk cheat again?" Aditi spat angrily.
"No! I forgave him for that...but this morning..."she continued.
"What happened?" Aditi grew nervous.
she hesitated. Anant had been fantastic this morning. What should she say? she looked around her, hoping for something that would inspire an idea. Her eyes landed on Anant's credit card that was sitting on the table.
"He...he...called me fat." navya said, pouting. 4
"navya, you are not fat! You're skinnier than me!" Aditi exclaimed.
"I'm so mad at him!" navya tried to fake her anger.
"Get him back! Call him impotent! It'll hurt his ego!" Aditi said enthusiastically. 6
"I have a better idea." she said wickedly. "I think I'll buy myself some diamonds, courtesy of Anant." She said, standing up and picking up his credit card.
"I doubt Anant will care if you spend his money. He has millions that he could live without just fine, but I'm down for some shopping. Maybe I can convince Hiten that I'm mad at him and won't forgive him until there's a pretty diamond ring on this finger." Aditi mused.
she smiled widely. This was going to be easier than she thought.
OMG!! What is navya getting herself into?!?! Anant most certainly did NOT call her fat! Lol!!
Awww aren't Anant and Hiten such cuties? I LOVE writing about them!! The awards ceremony/ Anant and Navya's anniversary is coming soon!
Tell me what you thought of the chapter!
COMMENT AND like!!!
"navya! This is gorgeous! Make Anant buy these!" Aditi exclaimed as she held up a pair of ruby earrings.
"I think I'm more in the mood for diamonds." she replied, walking over to the jewelry counter, where the diamonds were located. 2
"Well diamonds are a girl's best friend." Aditi smiled as she followed navya
"What do you think?" she said, eyeing the display case closest to the diamond rings.
"Earrings?" Aditi suggested.
"Oh my god! Look at this ring!" she exclaimed with fake enthusiasm. She asked the man behind the counter to take out a row of diamond rings.
"Which one?" Aditi asked, looking at the display of diamond rings in awe.
"Umm...this one?" she examined the rings. She chose a simple ring with a ten karat white gold band, a medium sized diamond in the center, and two small diamonds on either side of the larger one.
Aditi's brow's furrowed.
"That diamond is hardly big enough. It's not even a thousand dollars. Anant would probably laugh if you bought that." Aditi said. 6
"Which one do you like?" she asked Aditi, backing away from the display case so she could make more room for Aditi.
"Let's see." Aditi stepped forward and looked critically at each ring.
Aditi gasped as her eyes landed on the perfect ring.
"That one!" Aditi exclaimed, her eyes gleaming with excitement.
The man behind the counter took out a vintage style diamond ring. Its band was eighteen karat white gold. It was a criss-cross band with small diamonds encrusted throughout. The main diamond was enormous and was framed by many smaller ones.
"I wouldn't mind wearing this for the rest of my life." Aditi said.
"$4,000!"navya exclaimed. 2
"Navya! Anant is a multi-millionaire. A few thousand dollars isn't going to make a difference. I wonder if Hiten would ever buy something like this for me." Aditi replied.
navya pulled out her phone and tried to pretend she was doing something of substance, as she tried to clandestinely take a picture of the ring and send it to Hiten. She sent another message with the details of the ring also adding that Aditi had found her wedding ring.
"You know, Anant and I didn't have an engagement. I want an engagement ring...a symbolic engagement ring." she said.
"Aww that's so sweet. Well an engagement ring is only temporary, so it should be a lot less intricate. I like the ones with a little color, but that's just me." Aditi replied.
"Let's look at some with a little color then." she laughed.
They spent some time looking at various diamond rings. Aditi kept convincing her that they should look at more modern designs, and navya openly listened every one of Aditi's suggestions.
"This is perfect! I'd want this ring!" Aditi nearly shouted. She picked up a fourteen karat white gold ring with a diamond flower cluster located in between two vibrant, blue sapphires.
"It's great, but I don't think it's my style. It has you written all over it." navya commented. She pulled out her phone again and took a picture while Aditi looked through some other rings. She sent it to Hiten with a single word message: Bingo.'+
They looked for about an hour before they both got tired of staring at jewelry.
"Aren't you going to get something?" Aditi said, as navya started heading out.
navya paused. She'd forgotten that she'd brought Aditi to a jewelry store under that false pretense that she was getting revenge against Anant.
"Oh yeah. I like this one." she said. She purchased a ten karat white gold diamond three stone engagement ring that only cost a few hundred dollars much to Aditi's dismay. navya wasn't really angry with Anant and didn't feel right spending thousands of dollars of his money on something she didn't need.
"Let's go find some shoes!" Aditi suggested, rushing to one of the other stores.
Navya laughed following behind Aditi.
she returned back to the mansion much later than she'd anticipated. She was surprised to find that Anant hadn't come home yet. She started pacing in the living room, trying to figure out an excuse to justify why she had to purchase a single diamond ring worth hundreds of dollars. After a while she sat down on the sofa and propped her feet up, getting more and more impatient as the night went on. She thought about calling Anant, but thought he'd probably be busy. After some time had passed, navya heard the door knob. She sprung to her feet and rushed to the front door. The door flung open, and there stood Hiten.
"Bhabhi! You're the best! I can't thank you enough!" Hiten exclaimed. He walked in and unexpectedly engulfed navya in a hug.
"Okay, Hiten. That's enough." Anant said, walking up behind him.
"I need to properly thank Bhabhi." Hiten said, releasing navya.
"She gets it." Anant said.
"I'll just hug you instead." Hiten said, engulfing Anant in a hug.
"Okay okay. You've thanked everyone enough." Anant said, pushing Hiten off of him.
"Bhabhi! The rings are perfect! I didn't think you'd actually get her to tell you what kind of wedding ring she wants. This is too good to be true! I'm so happy I could kiss you!" Hiten said animatedly.
"Don't even think about it." Anant said sternly. 1
"It's an expression, man." Hiten replied.
"It was actually a lot of fun." she piped in. "I'm happy to help."
"Wait til you see what we have planned!" Hiten said. "You're going to wish I was proposing to you instead, Bhabhi."
"No she won't." Anant said. 3
she giggled at Anant's jealousy. 2
"I'm sure it will be great!" she encouraged.
"Don't you have somewhere to be?" Anant asked Hiten.
"No, why?" Hiten said, taking the liberty to take a set on the sofa.
"Hiten, leave." Anant said, following him into the living room. 1
"But I just got here." Hiten whined.
Anant took off his coat and shot a smirk at navya. He threw his coat straight onto the floor. she bent to pick it up, but Anant stopped her, shaking his head silently. 3
"Okay, Hiten you can stay." Anant said slyly. He loosened the first few buttons of his shirt.
"Cool. So got anything to eat? I'm starving." Hiten replied, stretching out on the sofa.
"I'll just let you know that I'm about to have wild sex with my wife on that very sofa you're sitting on." Anant smirked. 9
Navya's eyes widened and her mouth dropped open in shock. Hiten looked at Anant in just as much shock as navya was in. He grinned widely.
"That's hot." Hiten stated. 13
"Get out," Anant laughed.
Hiten stood up.
"Well, I hope you enjoy your...evening." Hiten said, moving towards the door. "You dog." Hiten commented at Anant as he left.
"Why did you lie to him like that? He was so happy." she said as soon as Hiten had left.
"Who said I lied?" Anant smirked, taking a step closer to navya. 1
"Anant behave yourself." she said, taking a few steps back.
"Don't you want to have wild sex with me?" Anant smiled. 10
she looked down, blushing profusely. Anant grabbed her hand and pulled her forward. She quickly pulled her hand away, and sprinted up the stairs. Anant looked surprised for a moment, then ran up the stairs after navya. She ran into his bedroom and slammed the door shut. Anant started banging on it hard.
"navya, open this door!" Anant exclaimed.
Navya backed away from the door, afraid to open it. She knew that Anant was just kidding, but she couldn't help but worry. Suddenly, the banging stopped. she looked at the door, wondering if Anant was still standing on the other side. She cautiously unlocked it and cracked it open, peeking outside. Anant came out of nowhere and forced the door all the way open. navya let out an involuntary squeal and backed away. Anant had a devious look on his face. He slowly walked forward.
"Anant," she said unsurely.
"Navya," Anant countered with a grin. He continued to walk forward and she took a few steps back.
she was backed up against the wall. She saw no way to escape. Anant walked closer and closer to her. He placed an arm on either side of her trapping her between himself and the wall. navya looked pleadingly up at Anant, silently begging him to behave himself. Anant leaned forward and gently kissed her on the forehead. navyas eyes fluttered closed. She smiled at Anant's innocent affection. 4
"I'd never do anything you were uncomfortable with. I promised, remember?" Anant said. 9
"Thank you." sje said. She didn't know what else to say. She just wanted to thank Anant for being so sincere.
"Don't thank me. Now, come on. I'm hungry." Anant laughed. He took navya's hand and they went downstairs to have a late dinner. 1
Once they were in the kitchen, navya suddenly remembered that she needed to tell Anant about her shopping trip. Since the chef had already left, she started heating up some food, while Anant sat in the living room. He decided that he needed to finish the day's work at home since he and Hiten had spent so much time planning instead of working. After some time, however, he just ended up chatting with Hiten. she walked into the living room, and he immediately closed his laptop.
"Can I show you something?" she asked nervously.
"Sure. What's the matter?"he asked.
she sat down beside him on the sofa. She pulled out the box that held the diamond ring she bought while she was out with Aditi.
"I needed an excuse to take Aditi to a jewelry shop, so I could find out what ring she liked." navya started.
"What did you tell her?" Anant asked, curiously.
"That I was mad you...because you called me fat." navya admitted.
"navya! I would never say that!" anant exclaimed. He felt hurt that navya would even suggest that he'd say something like that about her.
"I know! I'm sorry! But she believed it. I told her that I needed to get some revenge." she explained.
"What kind of revenge?" Anant asked.
"The type that hits you right in the wallet." she answered.
"What did you buy?" Anant asked, his eyes wide. He looked worried. Hopefully navya didn't spend too much money.
she looked down.
"I"m sorry." She said.
"Navya, it's okay. But what did you buy?" Anant asked.
"This." she replied, holding out the box that contained the diamond ring. She carefully watched Anant's expression as she opened it, hoping he wouldn't be mad.
"It's nice." Anant commented. "How much did it cost?"
"Around $700." she admitted.
"That's it?" Anant questioned. 2
"What?" she asked, confused. He wasn't angry at her frivolous spending?
"You looked so worried. I thought you spent hundreds of thousands of dollars or something. God Navya, chill! $700 is nothing." Anant said. 1
"But..." navya started.
"But what?" Anant interrupted. "You don't have to feel bad. Hell, spend $700 every day if you want."
Navya looked down. She felt silly. Of course, Anant wouldn't care about a diamond ring that cost a few hundred dollars. Aditi had even told her that she'd have to spend a lot more to get a reaction out of Anant.
"Sorry. I thought you'd mind." navya said.
"Of course I don't. Spend whatever you want. You're the wife of a very rich man, navya. Just remember that." Anant winked.
she stood up to go back to the kitchen, but Anant stopped her from leaving.
"Navya, I don't like to lie. It's not a nice thing to do." Anant said, pulling her back to the sofa.
"What are you talking about?" navya asked.
"Well, I told Hiten that I was going to have some hot, wild sex with my wife on this couch." Anant said, looking innocent. 12
"Anant," she said skeptically.
"I mean the least we could do is make out a little. Then it wouldn't be a lie. It'd just be a fib." Anant said.
navya looked down. She started to giggle as Anant started to nuzzle her neck.
"Okay," she agreed, "but only because lying is bad."
Anant caputred navya's lips with his and the two of them started an intense makeout session, spending the rest of the night in each other's arms. 9
Anant woke up disappointed to not find her beside him. Today was their first anniversary. Much to Anant's dismay, it was also the day of the awards ceremony that he'd promised navya he'd attend. He reluctantly got out of bed and got ready for the day. As far as Anant could remember, the awards ceremony started at five o'clock. Anant decided that he'd wait til after the ceremony to surprise navya so they wouldn't be rushed. Obviously, he had a surprise for her. After all, it was an important day. Anant sauntered down the stairs, eager to see his wife.
"Surprise!"she exclaimed, spatula in hand.
There was a large breakfast spread laid out in the table. From pancakes to egg benedict to turkey sausages to waffled, everything anyone could imagine was on that table. 1
"I made it all by myself." she said proudly.
"What time did you wake up?" Anant asked, taking a seat.
"Early...way too early." she answered, sitting down beside Anant
Anant dug into the stack of pancakes first and then moved on to the eggs. He was full before he even had half of what navya prepared. navya watched Anant happily as she ate some of the waffles. She was glad he was enjoying his breakfast.
"Damn, navya. You're trying to fatten me up." Anant quipped.
she smiled at him.
"Happy anniversary." She said.
anant stood up, looking very serious. He walked off into the living room, taking navya's hand and pulling her behind him..
"What's the matter?" she asked, once they were in the living room.
Anant placed his hands around her waist and kissed her passionately. Their lips danced together for a moment. Anant shifted a little so that he could deepen the kiss. she's arms slipped around his neck, pulling him closer.
"Happy anniversary." Anant smiled, breaking their kiss. "I can't wait to celebrate it with you."
she stepped away from him.
"What time will you be back?" she said, a little distracted.
"The ceremony starts at five, so why don't you meet me at my office at a little past four? We'll go together from there." Anant replied.
"Alright. Is there a certain way I should dress?" she asked, as they walked towards the front door.
"Sexy." Anant smirked.
navya gave him a disappointed look.
"Okay, just kidding. Dress in something formal." Anant stated seriously.
she opened the door, waiting for Anant to leave. Anant quickly looked to his right and then his left. The coast was clear. He leaned forward and gave navya a quick goodbye kiss. she looked at him in mock anger, but Anant quickly ran out the door. +
Finally, it was four o'clock. Anant had one of his tuxedos dry cleaned and delivered to his office. He rushed off to put it one and get ready before navya arrived. When he stepped back into his office, he saw navya sitting in his chair at his desk. He walked in and moved closer to his desk. The chair was turned to the side, an navya hadn't noticed he'd come in yet.
anant cleared his throat, getting navya's attention.
"Excuse me, ma'am. I didn't to bother you." He said to her.
She looked at him confused by how formally he was speaking to her.
"I'm here to apply for the manager position. Your secretary didn't inform you?" Anant continued with his joke.
she caught on quickly.
"Are you qualified for this position?" She asked, giving him a cold look from a strict boss.
"I think I am." Anant replied.
"You think you are? You don't know?" she said in mock anger. "Why do you want this job?"
"To pay the bills." he answered automatically.
"That's it?" she replied.
"Well... there is one more reason." Anant added slyly. "I'd always dreamed of having such a beautiful boss."
she blushed. She tried to cover up her smile.
"Well sorry. I'll have you know that I'm happily married." she said.
"Well damn, your husband doesn't have to know." Anant said, smirking. He took a step closer to navya.
"Now you just wait right there or I'll have my husband beat you to a pulp." she threatened. 1
Anant walked around the desk. navya slowly stood up, wondering what he intended to do. He pulled her closer to him and wrapped his arms around her.
"Well, it's a good thing I can't beat myself up." He said, kissing her. 2
He stepped back to see what she was wearing. She wore a black sari with shiny, crystal-like embellishments throughout. Her blouse was a sleeveless turtleneck, which surprised Anant. she usually didn't wear sleeveless blouses. Her blouse had even more crystal-like embellishments than her sari. Anant smiled. Her outfit would go great with his present. He reached into one of the drawers in his desk. He pulled out a rather larger, velvet jewelry box and handed it to navya.
"Happy Anniversary." He smiled at her.
"A present?" she looked confused again. "I thought we were celebrating after the awards ceremony."
"We are, but you should have this before. You can wear it there." Anant replied.
she opened the box and was speechless by its contents. There was an expensive, intricately designed diamond necklace sitting in the box. It looked like it cost a fortune. It was the most exquisite piece of jewelry that navya had ever seen.
"anant...it's..." she was at a loss for words.
"Put it on." Anant said, excitedly.
He took the necklace from the box and moved around navya so that he was standing behind her. He fastened the necklace and walked back around to see how it looked.
"You look perfect." He said.
she leaned in and kissed him.
"Thank you." She said, sincerely.
"Well, you know navya, it was quite difficult to find something like that, something that would leave you speechless. And it was really expensive...so I think I'm going to need a better thank you than just one little kiss." Anant said.
"I'll see what I can do." She said.
She moved as close as she could to Anant, pressing her body up against his. His hands found her waist. She wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him, letting their lips move together. Anant quickly took control, over powering navya. He leaned forward forcing her to take a step back. The kiss grew more passionate and more fervent.
"Anant, let's go. We're gonna be...oh." Hiten walked in and paused at the sight before him.
Anant and navya broke their kiss as soon as they heard Hiten come in, and she immediately stepped away from Anant.
"Sorry," Hiten said sheepishly. He didn't look sorry at all. He was grinning. 1
"Great timing, Hiten, as usual." Anant commented.
"Woah! Babhi! Look at this sari! It's sexy." Hiten walked up to navya and started examining her outfit, much to Anant's dismay.
"Hey! Get away from her." Anant said, stepping in front of navya. 3
"Oh my god! I was just admiring her outfit." Hiten said.
"What the hell? Are you a girl? You shouldn't be admiring anyone's outfit." Anant said. 2
"You want me to check out your wife? Well, okay." Hiten said, figuring that if women were the only ones who admired outfits, then men checked them out.
"Don't you dare." Anant said protectively.
she giggled at Anant's jealousy. She knew that Hiten was always kidding when he made comments about her like that.
"We're going to be late!" Hiten exclaimed, changing the subject. He looked at navya and then back at Anant. "Maybe we should go separately."
"Why? We're all going to the same place." Anant replied.
"I know you two lovebirds are gonna wanna make out or maybe even get down and dirty in the back of the limo. I just wanted to make it less awkward for you, but if you're okay with me watching, I'm game." Hiten said. 11
navya's mouth dropped open in surprise. She immediately turned red.
"What the hell?" Anant said, not really knowing what else to say. He was surprised that Hiten was so blunt and, that too, in front of navya.
Hiten grinned at the couple, making them wonder if he was kidding or actually serious.
"We're going separately." Anant declared.
"What?" Hiten's face fell, "I was just kidding."
"Too late. You planted the idea in my head. Now I can't stop thinking about getting down and dirty in the back of the limo." Anant said. 1
navya looked at him incredulously. There was no way in hell she was about to let anything happen in a place like the backseat of a limo, even if it was their anniversary. 1
"But...But..." Hiten protested.
"I'm sending a limo to pick up Aditi. It should be here in no time. navya and I will have our own limo, and you and Aditi will have your own limo. You're welcome." Anant smiled.
Hiten's face lit up. He knew exactly what Anant was insinuating. He was always looking for some privacy with Aditi, and now Anant was giving it to him. Hiten engulfed Anant in a bear hug.
"You're the best!" Hiten exclaimed. He released Anant and turned to navya. "Bhabhi, give this man a kiss! He deserved it!"4
she burst out laughing.
"You know, he had a point." Anant agreed.
"We're going to be late." she said, walking out of Anant's office.
Nothing even close to getting down and dirty happened in the limo on the way to the award ceremony's venue. Navya did end up giving Anant a kiss for being so nice to Hiten and Aditi as per Hiten's request, but she didn't let the kiss get out of hand. Anant repeatedly assured her that the glass between them and the driver gave them the utmost privacy and they could do whatever they wanted without him ever knowing, but she wouldn't relent.
"Oh my god! Didi, what a sari!" Payal exclaimed upon laying eyes on Anant and navya. Anant had invited her along with Rajiv, thinking that navya would enjoy seeing Payal after so long. 6
"Thank you, Payal. How have you been? You never visit often anymore." navya said, hugging her little sister.
"School is hard." Payal pouted.
"You'll be okay." navya reassured.
Payal's face broke out into a huge smile.
"Jija-ji! Didi! It's your anniversary! Happy anniversary!!" Payal exclaimed, nearly jumping up and down in joy. 2
"Thanks, Payal." Anant and navya replied in unison.
The four of them walked in and found their table. Neha and Nikhil were already there, chatting with Hiten and Aditi, who by some miracle, had reached there before Anya. The venue was a large ballroom, with over twenty large, round tables. There was a stage and podium at the front of the room. The press had gathered outside in the front entrance, but Anant had instructed the limo driver to drop them off at the side entrance, not really feeling like dealing with the press. Everyone was immaculately dressed. There wasn't very much mingling. Waiters started serving hors d'oeuvres and wine. Anant felt restless. He was glad that all of his friends had accepted his invitation to attend this event, but he just wanted it to be over, so he could have some alone time with navya.
When the awards ceremony started, Anant thought he'd feel relieved. It was only supposed to last a couple of hours. A couple of more hours and he'd be able to be alone with her. He thought it would go by in no time. Boy, was he wrong! The announcer was plain and boring and lacked personality. Every single person who received an award for some reason or another gave a speech. Anant hadn't prepared a speech. He was so busy preparing his surprise for navya that he hadn't thought to write a thank you speech.
"And our last award of the evening is for excellent community service here and abroad in India. This individual had founded several foundations that work to help underprivileged women reach their full potentials, whether they are mothers in need of support or independent women that just need a helping hand. It's a noble effort that deserves some recognition, I believe. This individual is a successful businessman, who is sincere and generous enough to spend a few of his millions to help others. I'd like to present this award to Mr.Anant Bajpai." The announcer said.
There was the usual sound of polite applause as Anant made his way to the stage. He glanced at her, who gave him a sincere smile, before he walked up to the stage. Suddenly, his table erupted in a loud round of cheers, led by Hiten, of course. Anant felt himself redden, embarrassed by his friend's actions. He quickly composed himself as the announcer handed him the plaque. He was handed a microphone to give his thank you speech. He took a deep breath and found navya's face in the crowd.
"I'd like to thank the board of this foundation for giving me this award. The first agency was started by my father many years ago, and I decided that an agency that aims to help women should be expanded so that aid can reach as many women as possible. Sadly, I'm not able to help every woman who needs it, but I can sure try. I'd like to thank my best friend, Hiten, for being my business partner. Without him, I wouldn't have been able to reach such great heights. I wouldn't have been able to expand these agencies and help so many women. I'd also like to thank my wife, Navya." Anant locked eyes with navya. She looked shocked to be mentioned in his speech.
"I'm not sure if she realizes it or not, but she made me a better person. Today is our first anniversary." Anant declared. The crowd applauded as a way of congratulating him.
"I wasn't going to come here tonight, but I promised my wife I would be a good boy and do whatever she wants, and she wanted me to come here and accept this award like a gentleman. Helping people feels amazing, but it feels even better knowing that that someone you love is proud of you because of it. Navya, I love you so much, and I'll always strive to make you proud of me." Anant finished his speech. Everyone erupted in a large round of applause, this time not out of politeness. They were impressed with Anant's heartfelt speech. Many of the audience members, including everyone at Anant's table, gave him a standing ovation. navya remained sitting. She neither applauded for Anant nor smiled at him as he made his way back to the table. She had tears in her eyes. She couldn't believe what Anant had just said. She stood up once Anant had made it back to the table and kissed him in the presence of everyone, not caring about the onlookers. All she cared about was Anant. 4
"Thank you for saying all of that." she whispered, breaking the kiss.
Anant wiped away a tear that had fallen down her check.
"If you liked that, you'll love what I have planned after this ceremony." Anant smirked.
