"The Serial" by Vikas Gupta [Exclusive Interview]
Vikas Gupta is the creative genius behind the highly popular Gumrah on Channel V and is also the brains behind the upcoming show The Serial that will be launched on November 26th and will be telecast from Monday to Friday on Channel V at 8pm. Vikas speaks to Sourendra Kumar Das from Screaming Critics more about the show and how it will tell the real life stories of Television actors through the eyes of a 17 year-old boy…
Tell us something about "The Serial" in Channel V?
The show is a journey about a 17 year old boy who wants to get into the Television Industry. So, the audience will see everything from his eyes. And even someone who is a teenager in the Television industry goes through the same crisis that any 19 year old will go through in life, be it in relationship, with friends or with family.
What made you take up a show with such a unique concept?
I took a break from the Television Industry and I wanted to come back and do something very different. Gumrah was my first show where I was the producer. Often, we see this Television stars have more fan following than even Bollywood celebrities. And in this show, unlike Big Boss, we would not lock up people and make them fight purposely. Here we will portray real life scenario.
Was it difficult to let the audience into their personal life?
I am actually showing the bedroom of these people, and most of them are my friends as we all started together. When we started, we were all 17 or 18 years old and now we have become 24 or 25, and we are all like-minded people. And even the audiences are tired of watching a girl being bullied in the college by the boy, and at last she falls in love with him.
Who all are the celebrities who are there in the show?
Pooja Gor is a 20 year old girl, who actually played a character of 27 on screen, and she is a close friend, I have seen her grow in the years. And Raj Singh Arora is coming back after 5 years; Karan Kundra who never wanted to come back to Television is coming back because of the unique concept. Vikram Massey wanted to do something different, and here he will be here. Sarah Khan plays a very interesting role, as she has seen the pinnacle of success and even was in Big Boss. Here, the audience will see her in a very different light. Soumya Seth will be an entire revelation in the show. And we are very thankful to Channel V for allowing us to do such an interesting show.
Message to your fans: A Lost Boy Productions is a very new venture and different from others, made of youth and most of the shows will be youth-orientated and for the youth. So, keep watching all the shows and then we can do more interesting shows for you.
