Just visited the forum and found all your lovely letters.

Dear Starplus,
Navya has become the very air that we breathe for many of us. I am from a small industrial city named Jamshedpur. Though Navya has been touted as a youth show I must tell you that I am married and I LOVE Navya and so do my other married friends.
I personally dislike any serial going on for years and years and I feel shows should end in good time but to axe Navya within nine months when other shows with lesser trps have been going on for years? Why this prejudice SP? I am forced to think that there must be other vested interests.
Even people who don't watch Navya think that SP for some reason has given a raw deal to Navya.
Shaheer ahd Soumya are the finest finds and their chemistry is awsome! Moreover, the story is not the usual saas bahu types and I was just applauding starplus for being a trendsetter when this blow fell.
Just when I was putting you on a pedestal I found that you had feet of clay.
I think it is extremely unfair to axe a show that is popular, different and a trendsetter of sorts, that too in just nine months.
I hope good sense will prevail and the if there are a few rational people left on the channel, they will be able to reason with the irrational megalomaniacs.

DEAR STARPLUS,

NAVYA is a very unique show. This is the best show I ever watched. Don't think that only youngsters are glued to it . my whole family loves the show. The whole cast is doing a great work. Every character, every incident, every situation all are very realistic. Everyone is just loving the show so why do you people want to end this show . please don't do that. i cant live without this show navya is my life , Its so unfair on Navya when shows with lower TRPs are given extension to stay on. Its a humble request to u pls dont axe navya

Hi, Star Plus,

My name is Shilpa and I am a married professional, in my 30s, living in an Indian metro. I am an ardent viewer and fan of your serial Navya. I have seen every episode and some episodes several times. 10 o'clock at night, in my house, is reserved for Navya and my family has learnt the hard way that whether there is a cricket match, an election or an absorbing political debate, at ten on weekdays, the television belongs to me.

You might think that this is usual for me. I must have loved and watched several serials. Actually that is not true. I last watched a hindi TV serial when I was in school and that was a really long time ago! I am a scathing critic of almost all hindi language content currently served on television. I imagine that the reasons for that should be easy to discern. You see injustice and inequality really bother me and my working life is all about trying to address these lacunae in our society. I believe that all men and women are born equal, have equal rights irrespective of caste, class, religion and region and our society should be structured to provide space and opportunities to all and most especially the poor and marginalised, to grow, develop, participate and make a place for themselves in the world. Clearly, Indian society is not there as yet but hopefully, one day we will. At least, that is the path I would like to be on, the direction I would like to move in.

Unfortunately, most hindi TV serials, and especially the ones on your channel are not part of this journey. In the name of tradition, they present and eulogize values that represent the old India - feudal, hierarchical, patriarchal, autocratic, communal. In this cesspool, Navya was like a breath of fresh air. Here were characters, situations, struggles and a milieu that I could relate to! Just like Navya, I grew up in a conservative environment and was then exposed to postmodern Mumbai and Delhi. Just like her, my family was strict but loving, approachable and understanding. Just like her, having a boy friend and a love marriage was unusual for them. Nobody else in the family had done anything like it! Girls were provided equal opportunities to learn and earn but marriage was still a family decision! It took them some time to accept it and support me, but they did, just like the Mishras finally supported Navya.

I was so surprised to find a serial that was willing to accept that 'tradition' was not a holy cow - it could be problematised, to present the Mishras and their everyday parenting struggles as the 'norm' and the Bajpayees with their autocratic and hierarchical ways as a 'problem'. I was surprised to find a hero who questioned his family on early marriage for his sister, defended Renuka's right to go for a divorce and his own right to love based on his belief in an individual's right to pursue happiness in their life above structure and tradition. This was the only serial that presented the sensibility that a pomp and grand marriage could be an unnecessary burden on the girl's side - that such marriages have huge financial implications even without dowry. That had the protagonists trying to influence this aspect. Because of this serial, I began to revise my opinion of you and other hindi language TV content.

However, it was not to be...

Your decision to discontinue this serial in this way, without any clear reason or rationale, is shocking and a reassertion of your disregard for the millions of Indians, especially the young, who are on this progressive journey towards change - their struggles and their everyday reality.

Also as a professional, I particularly feel that, not only your decision, but your entire handling of this situation has been extremely unprofessional, disrespectful, high handed and arrogant!! You advertised a new show at the 10pm time slot without any clarity on what will happen to the existing show. You first shared your decision to discontinue the show in tweets and emails in response to agitated fans and viewers and only yesterday did you put up this news on your facebook wall. Even now your website has no clear information about this change. Fans and viewers who have called in have been dealt with rudely and provided no clear information about what is happening. Most importantly you have completely disregarded the people who have put aside their work and all other occupation to convince you that the show has a huge fanbase - #savenavya was trending on twitter over the weekend!!

I sincerely wish that you reconsider your decision and reinstate this serial which is very well made, has a wonderfully talented cast that delivers superb and realistic performances, in which the UP milieu is beautifully created and the situations are not unrealistic and overly dramatic and is a balanced mix of romance and drama.

I as a viewer would very much like to see how Anant and Navya continue to balance tradition and modernity, how Mohan and Renuka manage their marital problems, how the Bajpayees learn to adjust to modern values of democracy and valuing the individual.

I also wish that you improve your ability to respect and interact with your audience.

regards

Dear SP

When so many ardent Navya fans are pleading you can't you show some mercy? Navya is the only show which all the youth can relate too coz all other shows are better not spoken about...Navya aptly justifies the "rishta wahi soch nayi" tagline and since day one anant-navya made us walk along with them. AnYa(anant-navya) will always be dear to us no matter how many cheap games the channel tries to play with the show. We the fans won't stop, won't give up till the end and do everything it takes to save our beloved show. We want to see more and more of AnYa...their journey has just begun, let us witness the new soch being installed by the two of them. Please please please don't axe Navya...

#SaveNavya and you won't regret you decision ever...Please do the needful!

Hi SP,

I am a professional in the financial services industry and have started watching Tele -Vision almost after a decade just for 'Navya' ! There has been a unique freshness about the show and at the same time it maintained a touch with the reality. There is something so real and humane about our very own Anant and Navya ! Shaheer and Soumya have touched our heart by their innocent act and sheer hard work. In fact, the entire cast of Navya has become an integral part of our daily lives.

Have you ever seen such an enraged, disappointed and yet a connected base of these large numbers of fans just hearing the rumor of our show going off-air ? We call ourselves not just a fan but, as Navyains!! It has become a mission for all Navyains just and only to #SaveNavya !! I do not think any other show has been able to create such a powerful impact on its fans that it can be matched up to the passions of all and every Navyains... We all are connected with a single thread of passion and that is 'Navya'. And we promise that we will only stop and breathe easy when you hear our plea to #SaveNavya!!!

SP, it's a humble request that you let our show be, preferably in the prime time slot. It's the viewers who made you number ONE... Now it's your turn to show that you DO CARE for your 'Viewers' in real sense. I do hope and wish to trust you that justice will be done for the Navyains !!

#SaveNavya

Regards,

Nupur.

I am a married woman with kids and believe me i too watch mainly navya on tv. It is realy a realistic story and has a real touch of realistic moments in it. When it started i was the one who viewed it at home but now we all see it. It is a very good story that relates to many moments in life. What is the problem with the channel people for axing it, is stil not understood by me. This very story will remind every one of the tensions that the parents had when their children grew up and also it is a good eyeopener to all the children and parents . Loving your parents and getting their care and attention is the very wonderful thing in this world and it is very well portrayed in navya. This story has a breath of fresh air in it compared to all other shows. And different too from the regular saas bahu sagas that continues on and on.

One thing I can be of sure that every night that navya finishes at 10:30 all have a sweet smile on their faces before they go to sleep and we do relate to every emotions that each and every cast member show in their character. Navya is a good story . we want it to stay . # savenavya
