I know. There can never really be a definite answer to such problems that exist in our society. I wonder if we ever learn from our mistakes !

There is so much that can be talked about on ths still taboo topic of our society.
You have expressed concerns very aptly
Every marraige goes thru ups & downs .. everyone wants things to be smooth - but sometimes things donot work out! In this case, even after Renu tried, gautam didnot change! And it is filthy enough for a woman to live with such a husband!
Then again, these things donot get disclosed , thus the social pressure always adds burdens thru questioning & finger pointing!
Not only to woman ,but to her upbringing, her family & at times her education!
Would it be better if Mishras were more upfront & honest about it? If they atleast mentioned Infideality issues of gautam??? Don't know!
Perhaps Bajpayees would never be able to see beyond their mental block of rit & paramparaa!
Tough issue has been touched upon here! Commendable!

@spdp you are absolutely right.
Knowing the Bajpayee's even infidelity would probably have to be borne silently by the woman rather than seeking a divorce. Look at their anger when Anant pointed out that this could happen to Nimisha. Anant's grandfather talks so proudly about his parvarish. While this is one extreme, I have also seen the other extreme where pampered children are supported by their parents and every mistake made by them is justified because they feel that their own children can do no wrong.
So there has to be a balance somewhere and that is what good parenting is all about. Each situation is different and has to be dealt with accordingly.

Hi Roomni! very nice post! yesterday also we had a lot of discusssion on this sensitive issue! I hope Cvs address it sensitively till the end. I really admire Anant for taking up the so delicate topic with the loonies considering his oppressed upbringing! I hope that loonies learn their lesson sometime soon.
There is indeed a very fine line between how much you should compromise and in what respect? The situation becomes very grim when kids are involved! majority of mothers cannot take a decision because of the kid. Support like the Mishra family is much needed at that time. On the other hand there is a huge number of too independent population for whom divorce is the only choice and is almost like a status/fashion statement! They are not ready to adjust under any circumstance! And there are people like Mohan who have a fully incompatible partner with whom you are destined to spend whole life!

So finally the onus lies on us to decide what is the extent that one can withstand, what are the priorities in life and what is the promise of future. All said and done marriage is a sacred institution indeed but the sacred and pure flavor has a very different taste and outcome in different situations!

I hope the cvs wont end the topic choppily and give it the due respect and space and make us happy and satisfied!
