I admit Ranbir.Fan is right.I saw DID2 and the most time Terrence used Shakti in contempory styles and some sexy dance moves.IMHO she could not do justice to the tradionell indian style dances.And i as i saw the first show, i could not believe how awful she danced.The other girl was much better imho.

I can agree with you on this part. I wish instead of Dance India Dance, zee should have kept the name "Dance Western Dance", afterall both the winners Salman & Shakti were only into western stuff:(

well yeah..both Salman and Shakti are strong western dancers..but thats not all to them...

Dancing is not just about shaking hips but there is a lot more to any dance act....Salman and Shakti won cz they cud convey the feelings through their moves and set a mood with the audience...they cud connect with the people..

Shakti is good, I mean performance wise in DID she was quite consistent as compared to others, she gave phenomenal performances but somewhere she did lack versatility & most of the time she did what she was best at i.e Contemporary . I cant use the word Best for her at least not after watching her in nachle ve.

to some extent i agree with the topic opener

i am a follower of DID, i have seen shakti, she is a fabulous dancer, but she is good only in western bits, she is not strong in classical, and for that only reason she doesnt get my vote. her sister mukti, on the other hand can do classical also. but that doesnt take away the fact that she is a talented dancer and that she was a deserving candidate in the final. in fact all of the top 12 were equally deserving i think.

its just my personal preference, that i do not consider her THE BEST as she is not equally good in indian folk, classical and also Bollywood coz its a large part of Indian dance scenario.

That should not be held against the dancers. IMO, all the top 12 are equally deserving, and considering that the voting system is totally neutral and honestly, its a proof of what we , indian people want.

while i agree shakti is one of the best dancers and not THE BEST coz she lacked Indian classical skills, i think we should not blame her or salman. for winning.

the Indian people chose them and its our fault that we choose to ignore the wealth of the country and fall for everything western.

there was kruti mahesh who was a trained classical dancer, amrita too, and amrita was in top 6, and she was equally strong, giving good performances all the time. except for the day she got eliminated, she always won the hearts of the judges, but she was ousted and since its public voting, it was our fault.

that doesnt make shakti or salman any less deserving. it just reflects our taste in choosing our champions.

don't underestimate shakti.. she is an amazing dancer! so she's a lil weak in traditional/bollywood.. u can't master all styles! and u no what.. sachin ke bhi bure din aate hain.. that doesnt mean he's not a deserving cricket player!
