'Nach Baliye 8' just gave us something so unconventional, we had to do a double-take. Sanaya Irani and Mohit Sehgal just pulled off an amazing number and set fire to the stage.

What we liked- While the dancing plays it's part, what caught our attention was the characters they got into. The trio got into this glamorous, metallic, gothic costumes and absolutely nailed a radical routine. It involved more of voguing and runway styles and the men in it were absolute queens at it! Mohit and the pair's choreographer looked absolutely comfortable portraying sass, beauty and the typical "It Girl" attitude. They wore heels and corsets too!

Why we liked it- We love how the gender bent costumes here do not revolve around the typical cross-dressing you see on TV. Men wearing sarees for slapstick comedy as they pretentiously imitate feminine traits are a popular on-screen phenomenon. It is unrealistic, exaggerated and pretentious.

This piece, however, had none of that! They fit in their roles seamlessly and didn't shy away from talking a walk on the other side. The trio was genuinely sexy and watching them strut their stuff was such a refreshing sight.

And for a change I like IF's article on Monaya because it is usually copy paste lol! What they said about gender bending acts is bang on! This was done very tastefully and beautifully by Nishant, a far cry from the usual stereotyping. Way to go Mohit, San and Nishant!👏

P.S. Love the look of the Banjaran girls, very apt for belly dancing. Can't wait to see what San looks like <3 Also, thank you Suyash for your efforts in uploading that cute segment! Dedication of San fans on a whole other level😆 Monaya were adorable!

my only reservation is about mohit n his placement in the act i have no problem with all girl group doing any dance form which is gender neutral. The problem here is that this group banjara girls do only belly dancing n there are very few male examples who do belly dance n for that u really need to have a particular type of body which mohit does not have.

I think we r going to have either of the 2 extreme situations where either nishant's out of the box thinking could work magically n monaya could nail the act or it could fail miserably n monaya wld b scored really badly. We have no between scope of an average act.

So i am praying like crazy for monaya. I hope they rock tomorrow. Wishing n hoping for a perfect 30 again.
