'I didn't have the heart to say no to Manav'

Shweta Kawaatra remains unfazed by the recent controversy where hubby Manav Gohil and she
were accused of buying 200 SIM cards to boost their prospects on Star One's Nach Baliye-2 show. "The channel's supporting us. Other contestants are supporting us. That's because we have legally or morally not done anything wrong. We have not gone against the rules of the show. There's no reason why we should not stand tall and let people do or say what they want to. I'm really thankful to all those who've come up to us and offered support," she says. But the fact is that they bought 200 sim cards. To which she says, "If I don't want my family and friends to spend money, but they want to vote for us, I would gift them sim cards. It's as simple as that. It's our gift to people close to us. It's our way of showing appreciation to those who appreciate us. A simple and pure thing has been blown out of proportion."
Has she at any point regretted being part of the show? "Absolutely not. I would regret a decision if I was guilty. We are not guilty of anything."
Moving away from controversies, Shweta's happy to talk about her dance, which she's proud of. "I never considered myself a dancer. In fact, I don't even dance much at parties. But
Manav loves dancing. So when we were offered the show, I didn't have the heart to say no to Manav. So also, I decided to take it up as a challenge for myself."
At the moment it's only dance, apart from her weekly shows on TV. What happened to Ekta Kapoor's family drama soap she was supposed to do? "It was offered to me, but I couldn't take it up because of Nach Baliye 2. I wanted to put my heart and soul into dancing and that requires a lot of time."
