A 'Thank you' gone wrong!
Saroj Khan threatens to cut grades from Gauri and Yash Tonk's performance in 'Nach Baliye 2'
Known to be good dancers but getting low grades repeatedly on two occasions have been a dampener for Gauri and Yash Tonk on 'Nach Baliye 2' (Star One). But their next performance has floored the judges and gets them a standing round of applause from all on the sets. The joy was shortlived once their choreographer Deepak Singh shot off his mouth.
When Gauri and Yash reached the green room, they had Deepak beside them to express his feelings on a good performance. In his joy of finally hearing praise from the judges, he goes overboard and starts thanking a lot of people including a friend for allegedly helping Yash get his steps right like Amitabh Bachchan. The duo performed to a song in 'Don' and Gauri has a complete new look for this.
Saroj Khan takes umbrage to this and asks Deepak, "I'd like to change the marks I've given because if you have thanked so many people in getting them to dance the way they did, then what is your contribution?"
No amount of convincing on Gauri and Yash's part that their choreographer just got emotional at being recognised for his work helped to calm her. Saroj was adamant to reduce their marks. Finally, it was only after the production team, Kunal Kohli and Malaika Arora Khan telling her that it was a genuine mistake by someone who is live on TV for the first time in his life, that she relented and moved on with the show.
"Deepak has a language problem and added to it, he got very emotional, leading to the mess up. All our joy was smashed the minute he opened his mouth. Yash was also upset as he is a huge fan of Amitabh Bachchan and he doesn't need anyone to help him in getting Bachchanji's steps. We give a lot of inputs for every song as dancing is our passion. Besides, none of the names he mentioned have ever been to our rehearsals. His foolishness would have really put us in a soup had Sarojji gone ahead with her threat. We have spoken to him and asked him to keep his emotions in check," says a shaken Gauri.
