Recap

Yet another exciting week of Nach Baliye has just come to an end. But then, this seems more a new beginning. For Week 3 has seen quite a few unexpected twists and turns - not just of the dancers, but also in the scores and the ranking!

Sachin and Supriya, the top scorers last week, performed to the classic number Naach meri jaan phata phat. The duo entertained the audience with their charm once again.

Judges' comments:
Malaika Arora Khan: Well inculpation of dance and comedy, but somewhere there has been a lack of energy.

Farhan Akhtar: Brilliant performance, but in the tryst to amuse people there has been a lack of chemistry.

Saroj Khan: Good performance, but the choreography was not up to the mark.

The second performance of the day, a rather hilarious one by Delnaz and Rajiv Paul. Dressed in the traditional Maharashtrian attire, they danced to the tunes of the Govinda number Kisi Disco Mein Jaye from Bade Miyan Chotte Miya. Being an ace at comedy, Delnaaz made the most out of this theme. Waggish and humorous, their performance was in tune with the theme.

Judges' comments:
Malaika Arora Khan: Very funny… good energy level, made good use of your physical attributes. But somewhere there was a lack of finesse.

Farhan Akhtar: Really enjoyed the performance, felt like the lost Delnaaz and Rajiv are back. Infact the lift was brilliant.

Saroj Khan: I will judge your performance from a choreographer's point of view and I felt the choreography was rather crude. Humor doesn't have to be crude. Certain moves were not required. As performers you were good, but the choreography was sluggish.

The performance put up by the third duo Sai and Shakti, was filled with nostalgia as they swayed to the tunes of mutu kudi kwadi ada. Dressed in South Indian attire, they complemented each other as well as the song.

Malaika Arora Khan: Good performance, infact unlike the previous performance, Shakti has performed well and complemented Sai.

Farhan Akhtar: Very good performance, well co-ordinated expressions. But there is lack of choreography. It is a dance competition and one needs to concentrate on the choreography as well.

Saroj Khan: Good performance, expressions were good. But the rhythm was far far away. That's the reason your dance looked slow. Otherwise a good performance.

The sensuous couple last week, was this week's cute and bubbly couple. Manish and Poonam broke all the barriers and enjoyed every bit of their act. With well-timed expressions, high energy level and good choreography, they put together a reviving performance for the song, unchi hai building lift bhi bandh hai, kaise mein aaon dil raza mand hai.

Malaika Arora Khan: Performed really well. A mark improvement from the previous performances.

Farhan Akhtar: Brilliant! You guys maintained the energy level right from the beginning of the dance till the end.

Saroj Khan: Well performed. Good piece of choreography. Used the combination of comedy and choreography very well.

After last weeks speckle on their scoreboard, this week Manini and Mihir were in high spirits. Recovering from his back problems, Mihir delivered a prodigious performance. Humor being one of Manini's strong traits, she managed to give a performance filled with fun.

Malaika Arora Khan: Rocking performance. Mihir you have managed to keep your back problem behind and have performed really well.

Farhan Akhtar: Brilliant performance. For the first time in the competition you have performed this good. I'm sure the audience who saved you last week will be happy.

Saroj Khan: Aap ne bahut achcha perform kiya. Choreography aur comedy ko bahut achcha use kiya hai.

Shilpa and Apurva's act only exemplifies bravery with drollery. Shilpa met with an accident where she lost a tooth and was in tremendous pain a day prior to the show. Inspite of this, they managed to put up a good performance. Giving no excuses they danced to the tunes of Excuse me

Judges' comment:
Malaika Arora Khan: In spite of the injury, you had the courage to come and perform. You deserve a standing ovation. You were great, and nobody could have ever made out that there is something wrong.

Farhan Akhtar: Though there was lack of choreography, whatever you did was good. The concept was good.

Saroj Khan: The choreography was good and so was the concept.

Neeru and Amit seem to be improving with every episode. This week they gave an impressive performance as they shook a leg to ai yai yo aiyai yo. They tickled the audience combining humor and dance together.

Malaika Arora Khan: You seem to be improving with every performance. I just loved your performance. The combination of comedy and nakhras was superb. Initially, you were thanda, but now the chemistry seems to reflect very well in your performance.

Farhan Akhtar: I didn't like it, (a long pause…) I liked it very much.

Saroj Khan: You were the surprise packet for the day.

Another hot favorite is the energetic and lively couple, Rajeshwari and Varun.
Rajeshwari with her brilliant dancing skills and Varun, the power house of energy seem to impress the audience along with the judges every time they are on the stage.
This week's performance was a cut above the rest. Turning tables, Rajeshwari dressed up as a boy and Varun as a girl, the act received a huge round of applause.
If that was not enough, Saroj Khan herself came on to the stage and presented Rajeshwari with a token of appreciation. An emotional Rajeshwari wept her heart as she thanked Saroj ji for this gesture.

Malaika Arora Khan: Brilliant, outstanding. For the first time I felt like getting up and dancing myself.

Farhan Akhtar: An outstanding performance, I have no words to express.

Saroj Khan: This is what I call comedy and choreography together. Hats off to your choreographer.

The day's last performance was given by Archana and Parmeet. Despite suffering a stiff neck, Archana gave her best shot.

The Elimination Hour

After a string of captivating and ecstatic performances it was now time to eliminate yet another from the race. The nail-bitting climax, the nervousness and uncertainty reflected in the behavior of these Star jodis.

With every couple being declared safe one after the other, the only couples left in the danger zone were, Sai and Shakti and Delnaaz and Rajiv. With low scores and minimal public votes Sai and Shakti were declared 'eliminated'.

How has the judges feedback been?
Judges have marked us according to their experience. Infact, they really loved our performance in today's episode.

Choreographer's reaction:
All I can say is that I liked working with this couple and I will always remember the good time we had during the rehearsals. Just saved from being eliminated lets ask Delnaz and Rajiv who happen to be the other Jodi in the danger zone, their take on their low scores.

Are you satisfied with the scoring?
Not at all. Infact, I am pretty happy with our performance, but not really happy with the scores given. I still stick to the fact that it was a kick ass performance. I really don't understand the whole concept of finesse, how can comedy be crude?

Sachin and Supriya's reaction to their low scores:

What according to you went wrong in today's performance?
We started on a wrong foot. That guffaw in the beginning dropped our energy, however that's not an excuse. We need to put in more hard work, if we can accept 30/30 we should be sporting enough to accept these low scores.

Judges' view:
Farhan Akhtar: I personally feel the contestants have come a long way in a short span of time. They have done away with their nervousness and seem more confident however, they need to concentrate on the technicalities. It is a dance competition. Being actors, they are concentrating on expressions and not on the dance, this needs to be figured out by the jodis and their choreographers.

Saroj Khan: The jodis tend to forget the situation for what they are performing. Also there is no co-ordination. However, they have improved a great deal and the choreographers are doing well. My hot favourites: Rajeshwari and Varun, Apurva and Shilpa, Sachin and Supriya Delnaz is good and Manin needs to do better.

Malaika Arora Khan: Well... they have all taken our criticism seriously and there has been a vast difference in the performance
