Neil and Avni had spoken for what felt like hours, finally deciding to return to the warmth they ran to the safety of his car from the pouring rain
Avni got in first, shivering from the cold she turned the heater on as he switched on the engine
"I think it will take time, but maybe there is another chance for us" Neil spoke

Avni sat quietly "As much as I want a fresh start we cant forget what happened, it takes time to move forward and thats why I agree, we need a fresh start, get a divorce and if fate leads us back to eachother then okay, but I wasnt joking when I said I needed to find the me without you"
Neil huffed "So you want to be single first, to see if we're right together"
Avni nodded then a shape in the road appeared "NEIL" she screamed

Avni's POV-

I woke up, upside down, Neil's bloody face the only thing I could focus on, he was right infront of me, his eyes closed
My throat burnt, my legs stinging from the seeping gash on my thighs
"Help, somebody help" I cried
I needed a phone
"Neil, Neil wake up"
I tried to touch him but my arm was jammed, the seatbelt across me burning into my skin

Neil opened his eyes "Avni, god I love you, we're not going to make it, im gonna die, look after my family please"
"No Neil, we're gonna be fine" I said, not believeing it myself
The sound of loud sirens giving me hope
"Take me just please keep her alive" he sobbed
My eyes widened at the blood pouring from his abdomen

"I love you Avni" he shouted
Then my head jolted as I jumped up from the impact of something, the last thing I saw was Neil's worried face as I blacked out

Neil's POV-

"I want to see my wife, why cant I see my wife"
"Im sorry Mr Khanna, your wife has head injuries and is in the ICU"
The nurse tried to pacify me but I pushed forward
"I said I want to see my wife, why wont anyone give me any answers, I just need to know shes okay, what kind of job are you doing here"

2 Weeks Later-

"Mr Khanna, we're going to wheel you around to your wife now"
Neil nodded, happy to see Avni, to know she was okay
His heart raced as her face came into view
She smiled softly and waved
"Neil, I am so sorry, what a day to ruin our wedding anniversary"

Neil paused, wedding anniversary? That was months ago
He turned to the doctor, fearful
"Mrs Khanna, how long have you been married for"
"6 years, its our wedding anniversary today, no" she asked, confused
Neil shook his head, the doctor escorted him out "Mr Khanna it looks as if your wife is suffering from memory loss, returning to a time when she was most happy"

Neil looked at her through the window, it seemed fate had given him a second chance to make this right, she hadnt remembered, but then he was unsure if hiding what he had done was correct
The doctor patted him on the shoulder
"Remember, do not stress her out, it can be dangerous, this could be temporary, it also may not be"

Neil wheeled himself through the doors and smiled at Avni, "Avni, how much do you love me"
"More than myself" she smiled
"Why would you ask me something like that"
"Because I dont think you will love me after this"

I know how many of you want this to be a mis-understanding, so I thought I would just clear this up, I have decided that it will not be, because it will take away the point of this story, I apologise if this isnt what you wanted but as humans, we make many mistakes, we love, we lose and we learn
And perfection just does not exist, so this is the imperfect version of Avni and Neil and I hope you will all continue to read as you have been doing
