So, call this a deep dive into character analysis or anything else, but over the last few episodes, where we all have been hooked to the show, I sorta came to one new discovery.
We have all so far witnessed the unceremonious, sometimes unprecedented, and sometimes conspicuous switch in Avni's personality, where there are several triggers to activate the ferocious Ananya in her.
I think the fundamental of it is the word ''Najayaz'' wherein she can be reduced to a ball of nerves (like what happened when Mishti was being victimized as an illegitimate), followed by her Ananya avatar taking over, when she wanted to defeat the perpetrators: Vidyut and Juhi.
Other triggers include, anyone who throws a challenge at her, for instance, VIDYUT. Before her confrontation with him outside the police station, she was reeling in the aftershocks of Mishti's loss, but pat comes a challenging villain, and Ananya is born again from the splits of Avni.
But, guess what?
She is not the only one with these switches.
The other one is, as obvious as it gets, her own daring and handsome husband Neil Khanna.
Go back to the episode where Avni tells him that she is not actually leaving the house and this is only to show Vidyut that he is the victorious one here.
The way he says, ''Mujhe mini heart attack aa gaya tha,..'' and hugs her tightly: he looks like a little school kid, who got the best candy with him.
Then see him on his birthday night, being all stern with her as he puts her on the lie-detector test.
He is a no-nonsense, manipulative guy, looking only for the truth and nothing else.
Look at him when Vidyut asks him to trade his Avni.. He is a force to be reckoned with!
In yesterday's episode, look at him again when he speaks to Neela and asks her consent on whether he should go ahead.. He is again a sobbing little kid, asking for permission. He is broken from the inside, and desperately needs Neela's support.
Look at him in his bedroom, when he is getting intimate with Avni, but concealing his ulterior motives as he tactfully hides her real mangalsutra, and with determination says, you may hate me forever for what I am about to do, but this is the only way to save you.
And then, look at him, as he wipes off Avni's sindoor and takes off her Mangalsutra.
Look at him in the precap as he appears in front of Avni, not as her husband, but just as a police officer!
There's a big switch in his personality too, and our Neil Khanna too keeps oscillating between these persons that he solely is.
The only difference?
His trigger is only and only Avni.
It is only when it is about Avni or Avni herself, that he becomes this angry or this vulnerable.
While for Avni, her triggers of becoming Ananya is anything but Neil.
Neil has said it right..
''Tumse sabse zyada pyaar main hi karta hun, or sabse zyada hurt bhi main hi karta hun.''
This is the most unique thing about Neil's love.
WHATEVER it is, it is only for Avni.
Whereas, for Avni, her love for Neil is selfless but not unconditional yet, for she would still put others before Neil. And the example was, her plan on running away with Mishti without even thinking how was Neil going to deal with this.
Yes, in the episodes to come, we will see a stone-hearted Neil and I am sure, even I will be more on Team Avni. But dive a little deeper, and you can see, in the end, Neil is doing EVERYTHING only for Avni.
Others really don't exist for him.
And I hope, there comes a time, when for Avni too, only Neil exists. And not her burden from the past or any haunting from the present.
