I wouldn't call this stupid. Impulsive yes, but not stupid. And lets not forget how Vidyut warned Avni about him changing the game and thats what he did. She knows she cannot underestimate him at any point because he has had the history of changing the game in his favor. Yes, so I get why she would make such a plan.
Avni doesn't think of her promise when it comes to her loved ones. She did the same thing for Neil during the Rang Mahal track. And fortunately or unfortunately, Mishti is that important person now in her life. So she will do the same thing. Like we all agree, Mishti definitely doesn't deserve parents like Juhi Vidyut or a hell life. So thats what she is trying to do.
yes, the mistake she made was not involving Neil and thats where her impulse talks. But that decision also has a lot to do with the past as well. Say whatever or no matter how much Neil has changed her, one part of her still doesn't trust this system. Even during the rang mahal track we saw, when Neil tried following the law, he wasn't able to do anything but face suspension on trying to expose RP and save the girls. He had to go the unlawful way to save everyone.
Avni's impulsiveness definitely lands her into deep troubles. Sometimes she gets herself out of it and sometimes Neil manages to save her. But this time, it won't be the case. This time she is getting trapped in her own game, in her own decision because its vidyut she is playing against. And no matter how much Neil would want to save her, he might not be able to since Vidyut would have taken care of everything and making sure all the evidence is against her. And this punishment is more of a learning curb for Avni too as to how impulsiveness can land someone in deep troubles.
