Neil Khanna took advantage of Avni when she was unconscious due to fever, clicked their intimate pics and then used them to blackmail her to marry him. We all have been given the impression that Avni married Neil deceitfully for her revenge but the truth is it was Neil's idea that Avni will sit in place of Rhea at the mandap.

He knew that neither Avni nor his mother will agree for his marriage with Avni so instead of cancelling marriage with Rhea, he used the opportunity to marry Avni and then playing innocent in the whole drama. This is the actual twist which will be revealed in near future.
