=Haal-e-dil=Part 32
"Ehm ehm" Sound came from behind them. Avni quickly opened her eyes and turned around while Neil kept smiling. At the door, stood Neela and Mitali. Other family members soon followed and filled the entire room.
"Shweta Aunty! Jab kisiko chot lagta hai toh bed rest hi karta hai na?" Mitali asked while looking at Neil and Avni teasingly. Shweta who was unaware of what she was talking about had a confused expression but nodded her head in a yes.
"But aap ka beta kuch aur hi.. aaah!" Before Mitali could complete her sentence Neil pinched her arm secretly but Avni noticed it and smiled.
"Hawww so true! See abhi bhi bed pe sitting karraha hai! What it is Tillu?! Lie down abhi!" As soon as Shweta realized Neil's condition she rushed to him and convinced him to lie down.
"Mom I am fine. I am fine!"
"Fine toh tum lagrahe ho Neil. Konse doctor ne yeh chamatkaar kiya, haan Avni?" Neela added a bit to Mitali's fun and they both smiled at each other.
"Accha ab bas bohot hogaya! Mere Tillu puttar aur Avni bahu ki aur taang kichaai mat karo tum log. Oye Madam Madonna. Hato idhar se!" Bebe who had been enjoying everything all this while spoke up and moved to Neil's bedside.
"Tune toh iss buddi daadi ki jaan nikaal di. Jaldi se teekh hoke ghar vaapas aaja Puttar." Bebe caressed his hair and blessed him.
"Oh god! TV serial waale chale gaye mere bebe ko chod kar." Neil joked and Bebe hit him slightly on the cheeks.
"Tujhe toh sab kuch drama hi lagta hai tillu."
Just then the nurse came in. She made a face once again as she had to repeat what she did before; telling everyone to move outside and let the patient rest. After checking up on Neil everyone started to move out and finally Bebe stood up.
"Yaad hai maine kya kaha tha Shweta aur Sunny ke party ke raat? Gift toh tayyar hai. bas tum dono ke aane ki derr hai." Bebe winked and went out leaving a flabbergasted Avni and Neil alone. The nurse gave a final look at them and moved herself out as well knowing that it was useless to ask Avni to leave Neil alone.
"So.. what could the gift be? Any idea?" Neil asked Avni who was staring at the door. Avni's gaze shifted to Neil and she nodded her head in a no.
"I thought you would know since you are so close to Bebe." Neil shrugged and Avni frowned. But before she could say anything Neil grabbed her hand and pulled her towards him.
"Neil! What are you doing? Koi aajayega!" Avni hurried to free herself but in vain.
"Koi nahi aayega. Our security guard Nurse made sure that no one disturbs our romance." As usual he removed the strands of hair bothering Avni's eyelashes and tucked them behind her ears.
"What are you saying, Neil? Leave me!" Avni didn't give up fighting against the impossible.
"Family cut short our beautiful moment earlier. And now you want to go away. This is not fair." Neil pouted cutely and Avni couldn't help but laugh lightly.
"Neil! You are hurt. Please for once, listen to me? Please?" For seconds, Neil stared at Avni's pleading eyes and let go off her wrist.
"Okay! Jaao! Nahi karni tumse baat" He folded his arms and turned his face the other side like a child. That action of him gave Avni a chance to pull his leg even more.
"Now I am 100% sure that the chubby baby was you. Haha look at you. Cutie!" Avni laughed and tried to pull his cheeks but he hit her hand off.
"Awww.. baby tussi naaraz ho? Baby tussi naaraaz naaho!" From the corner of his eyes, Neil saw Avni sitting on the bedside holding her ears. A small smile cropped up his face but within seconds he hid it nicely behind his perfectly frowned face.
"Dialogue chor!" Neil murmurred deliberately but made sure Avni heard that. He knew what exactly triggered the hidden lady don in her.
"Okay enough. I think the nurse was right. I should leave THE PATIENT alone." Avni stressed on the word "the patient" and turned towards the door. Just then Neil grabbed her hand. Once again, who won? Avni! The victory smile graced her lips and reached her eyes but were out of Neil's sight.
"Tussi jaa rahi ho? Tussi naa jao!" Words came in Neil's voice and was heard by Avni who was still standing with her back facing Neil. Slowly she turned around and made a face at him before saying
"Dialogue chor!" at which both of them burst into fits of laughter. Time after that went with Avni trying real hard to convince Neil to go to bed in which she succeeded.
That night was different for Avni. It was as if time had stopped for her. For the only thing she did was stare at the handsome sleeping man who is rightfully her husband the whole night long. Fear from earlier that day was long gone and now Avni awaited a sunny morning.
Days passed and it was two weeks after the incident. Neil was going through a speedy recovery and life was smooth.
Tonight Neil is getting discharged after an extra one week in the hospital due to Avni who wanted everything to be extra fine with him. Before sunset, she started packing everything while Neil sat on the bed completely fine.
"Neil, do you remember the day I was discharged after the coma incident?" Avni directed a question at him and he lifted his head from the phone.
"Yeah.. You were sitting on the bed like I am right now and I was busy packing the stuff like you are doing now."
Avni stopped her work and eyed him before grabbing the phone from his grip.
A: No!
N: No?
A: I mean yes.. we were but I am not talking about that..
N: Then... what?
Avni came closer to Neil and wrapped her arms around his neck.
A: Remember we talked about "Haal-e-dil?"
N: Oh that..
A: Shhh! Listen to me!!
N: Okay Okay..
A: So.. I was wondering would you like to know my Haal-e-dil?
N: Is that even something to ask? Avni you are unbelievable!
A: Okay fine. I'll finish this work.
Avni returned back to her work after putting Neil's phone in his hand. However for some reason he didn't realize that. He was lost in Avni's thoughts while staring at her.
"I couldn't understand the whole point of that conversation. What were you even trying to say Avni? *sigh* There will never be a girl as weird as you I swear. My Ms Ajooba."

An hour later, Avni and Neil were home and the house seemed to be filled with happiness. Shweta was preparing food for everyone herself and this made Bebe joke around with her more. Prakash was distributing tips to all the servants of the house, while Mitali was also present along with Neela, Nanno and Aman. Ali had gone to bring sweets for everyone.
"Dinner is ready!" Shweta came jumping and hopping to the living room where everyone sat chatting, Neil and Avni being the centre of attention.
"Rabba hum sab ki raksha kare." Bebe's sarcasm was noticed by everyone and they all laughed while Shweta kept making faces at her.
"What bebe? My foods is always goods haan! Haina khanna sahaab?" Shweta blushed when Prakash nodded his head in a yes but quickly hid it when her eyes met bebe's.
*At the dinner table*
"Tillu, Avni. Yeh lo tum dono ka gift, bebe ki taraf se." Bebe handed them an envelope and urged them to open it. Avni was slowly opening it, which made Shweta impatient and she grabbed it from Avni and opened it herself.
"Oh ho Madam Mado... "
"Honeymoon Vacations!" Before Bebe could complete her sentence Shweta beamed with excitement and nearly shouted.
Avni who was drinking water choked and Neil's spoon was stuck half way and his mouth was wide open. Others were over the moon about the news.
"Oh wow! Where are they going bebe?"
Mitali couldn't keep her mouth shut.
"Greens Mithali Greens" Excitement was overflowing in Shweta's voice.
"Offo Shwetaji! Greens nahi, Greece!" Prakash explained to her wife with correct pronounciation only to have it brushed off by Shweta who had zero interest in that right now.
Soon everyone treated themselves and left the table except Neil and Avni who were too surprised to react.
"Avni?" Neil called out to Avni who was looking at her food plate gently swaying the fork in hand.
"Hmm?" As if she was pulled out of a trance, she replied turning her gaze towards Neil who was beside her.
"I think I am going to be sick! Can you bring some medicine and water to the room? I am going to sleep." Saying that he left the table leaving a very surprised Avni alone.
She watched him take the stairs until he was no longer in her line of sight. She dismissed all the thoughts and hurried to fulfill Neil's needs. In the process, she noticed the envelope Bebe gave them which had their tickets on the dining table. She grabbed it with her and made her way to the room as fast as she could.
"Neil, What happened to you?" Worry was evident in her voice. Holding the tray with both hands she moved inside her room which was rather empty.
"Neil?" As soon as she called out to him, she felt arms wrapping around her waist from behind. His face buried in the side of her neck. At first Avni was worried, but as soon as she realized that that was a little drama played by her naughty husband, she relaxed.
"Neil..you.." Avni was ready to scold him but his grip on her waist got tighter. If they were pieces of clay, they would surely have kneaded into eachother.
"Sshh Avni." He had no intentions of leaving her anytime soon and Avni just stood their holding the tray as tight as she could. Her heart was racing and the smile on her face grew bigger and bigger each passing minute. Neil wasn't oblivious to any of this for who will understand her better than him?
Slowly he loosened the grip and turned her towards him while her eyes were tight shut. He took the tray from her, placed it on the small table and grabbed the envelope on it before focusing his attention on her.
"WE ARE GOING ON OUR HONEYMOON!" Neil literally shouted much to Avni's shock.
He was break dancing, winking and sending flying kisses as if an audience was cheering for him. Avni had never seen him acting "cooler" than this. Upon seeing her face, he calmed down and lifted her face by the chin and asked her in a soft tone.
N: Are you happy about this?
A: Are you fine?
Avni replied back in the same tone he used.
N: Of course Avni! What would happen to me?
A: Thought you were feeling sick...
N: Oh my wifey! What will I do with you? Tubelight film mein Salman Khan ke opposite tumhe jaani chahiye thi.
A: Woh kyun?
N: *facepalm* Leave it! Yeh batao, tum khush hona?
A: Haan
N: Listen Avni, if you don't wanna go...
Before Neil could finish his sentence she hugged him and said "Shhh Neil" which stopped him half way. His lips curved into a content smile when he understood what was going on in her mind. She was totally happy about it, she just had no idea how to express it.
Avni will be Avni.
That night Avni and Neil had a lovely time. Without words they talked to each other in the language of hugs.
Around 10 30, Avni went out to fetch her phone that she had forgotten downstairs. By the time she came back Neil was sound asleep on the bed. For the first time Neil was sleeping on the bed since their marriage. He must have been really tired to figure out where he actually slept. If it was some other day Avni would have been startled and slept on the couch instead. But she made her way to the other side of the bed with an everlasting smile on her face. She took a one last glance at Neil and admired her man before resting her eyes for a new day.
Next morning, the early sleeper woke up first to realize where he was and the next thing he discovered was that his beauty was sleeping beside him without any objections. A smirk cropped up on his lips.
Minutes passed and a now wide awake Neil was still lost in Avni's face when she showed signs of waking up. He pretended to sleep and embraced her by the stomach and pulled her closer to him. Avni who hadn't yet opened her eyes, shot opened them with the sudden touch of him.
"Neil?" Avni checked whether he was really awake but to her relief no reply came from him. So she carefully removed his hand and made her way out of the bed. But before she could hit the floor he grabbed her by the wrist making her fall onto him.
"Good morning!" His morning sleepy voice made her heart skip a beat in the process of greeting her. She couldn't utter a word in return when again he spoke, eyes still closed.
"So the missus is finally okay with this eh?" Avni clearly understood what he meant by that but she refrained from speaking. Sensing the silence, Neil opened his eyes to see a blushing Avni, so closely.
"I got my answer. All thanks to Bebe." With that he let go her wrist and stood up to get fresh.
"Bebe?" A confused Avni also stabled herself on the bed.
"Yes.. Bebe! If she hadn't asked us to plan mom and dad's anniversary party and if she hadn't promised a gift for us and if she hadn't brought those tickets and if I weren't so happy and if you weren't so happy.. this day wouldn't have come. So yeah.. All. Thanks. To. Bebe!"
He winked at her and locked the bathroom door behind him.
"All thanks to the distance, if you hadn't gone far away from me that day, this day wouldn't have come.
All thanks to the time, if I hadn't survived those hours without you that day, this day wouldn't have come.
All thanks to my heart, if it hadn't longed for you that day, this day wouldn't have come.
All thanks to god, if he hadn't made me realize what I actually want that day, this day wouldn't have come.
They say it right! Love gets deeper with distance. Realization hits you hard with time. And once you are on the verge of losing something, that's when you value it the most.
I called myself unfortunate for everything that happened to me in my life. Now I call myself fortunate for having found a gem like you."
