Mere Bi Nahi?
"Avni, stop" The family members rushed behind Avni who ran inside her room in Neela's home and closed the door shut.
"Avni .. Avni"
They were shouting her name but she could hear nothing. It all felt dumb to her ears. She stood in front of the mirror, tears streaming down her cheeks, eyes red and a lump growing in her throat. Pain which is her close neighbor laughed at her while she fisted her veil and throw it away.
"Why me? Why it always has to be me?!" Avni screamed at the mirror, crying "I have made sure to stay away from Neil. I turned down his every advance cause I don't want to suffer in love. I never wanted to be in the same state as Ayesha maa but he broke all my walls and made me believe in love. Why? Why only to get broken again? Why? What was my fault in being an illegitimate child? What was my fault that I had to survive that day? What was my fault that I had to love someone who is not even mine at the first place? Why? Why past can't never leave me behind?"
Avni's feet gave up and she slumped down to the ground, crying and screaming. Everyone outside could hear her scream. It scared them. They could hear each and every single word clearly.
"Why god is so cruel with my life? Why can't I live normally? Why I have to lose every single thing I love? Why??!!
"Avni open the door bhaccha" Neela cried as Avni's screaming pierced her heart, fearing her out of life "Bhaccha please open up"
"Open the door Avni. You are scaring us beta"
There was a deep silence at the other side before they could hear Avni sobbing. It broke their heart to see this state of Avni. And then she spoke,
"Please leave me alone. I don't need anyone. Mujhe kisi ke bi zarurath nahi hai"
"Mere bi nahi?"
Before anyone could say anything, they heard a voice behind them while Avni was stunned to hear that voice.
