Sad and disappointed

The latest SBB segment where Bebe insults Avni for being the reason for Neil's drunken state made me very sad and disappointed. Firstly, if Neil really is drunk then that means he did doubt Avni's character, and that in itself is so disheartening. He was supposed to have faith in her, the way the promo suggested. Secondly, if he isn't drunk and is only acting, it doesn't make sense why he wouldn't just present the example of how he's literally falling over Rhea and nobody's objecting to it because he's inebriated and is merely being helped.
I'm not even going to start on Bebe. Can't complain there cuz the promo warned us that she would be turning against Avni so I can't really claim to be surprised.
I dunno. I hope the CVs make the plot convincing without sacrificing the fundamental qualities of Neil. I'm trying not to expect a lot, given the latest spoilers but still, the hope remains. So far the OLVs have just made me sad. :C

That scene with neil coming in the house drunk and stumbling over riya, with lipstick marks on his shirt (zain's behind the scene pic I saw with him wearing the same blue shirt outside khanna house showed the lipstick stains) and how everybody was worried about him and never questioned him shows the double standards in treatment given to a son and the daughter-in-law of the house.

They all saw ali over avni with a lipstick stain on him so they assumed they were having an affair, humiliated avni and questioned her character and relationship with ali, then bebe even asks avni for proof of her innocence, yet when neil comes in drunk after having been out of the house in the night and with riya so close to him and with a lipstick stain on his shirt, nobody questioned him why he was with riya, why he had a lipstick stain on his shirt, never accused him of having done something with riya to have that stain on his shirt, never asked him what is his relationship with riya, or asked him to prove to them that nothing happened between him and riya.

He received concern from the family members instead of being hit with accusations and questions, yet none of them even noticed that avni was unconscious when they saw ali with her, just the lipstick stain on ali's shirt, yet they don't give a shit if their drunk son comes back in the night with another girl and lipstick stains on him. Why?

Because he is the SON of the house, whereas avni is just a daughter-in-law. The son is never accused or have to prove himself, but his wife only receives this treatment. They were all asking for evidence from avni, right? So avni could have pointed this out when they were accusing her, but clearly the female lead is a bechari who has to be saved and proven innocent in her in-laws eyes only by the male lead and son of the family. 😡

All the OLV s are confusing me, lets wait for the episodes

Its Neil who makes everyone go to the station to bring Avni

So something must happen in between

And everyone doing wrong with Avni, they should regret

I am hoping for some Avni angry with Neil scenes after she comes back home

Avni could've and should've pointed it out, and I wish she had, that would've been more of a nayi soch than Neil having to defend her honour. But in her defense, Avni's concern for Neil probably took precedence over comparing the two situations and realizing the hypocrisy. Knowing Avni, she probably genuinely blamed herself for Neil's state, and this, combined with Bebe and Shweta more or less attacking her upon sighting Neil, led to her deciding she's better off leaving the house.

I think Neil is going to point out the double standards, when he's sober enough to do that, that is. My issue primarily lies with how Neil dealt with this debacle, which was disappointing to say the least. It takes him until after his wife is insulted and more or less kicked out of the house to take active measures to make his family realize their folly.

I wouldn't mind Avni leaving for a bit tbh, there's no reason why she should have to live with people who are so quick to call her charactless, where her own husband would rather get drunk and make the situation more difficult for her rather than have an honest confrontation; she's had a difficult life so far and there's no reason why she should have to continue to try to prove herself time and again.

The OLVs are really confusing. I hope the episodes make sense and do justice to all characters, but certain scenes- such as Neil coming home drunk and the entire family blaming Avni for it, using it as an excuse for how she's wrong, make me sad.

I myself being the inpatient one makes no sense saying this, yet i will - let's wait for the epi before getting upset.

The reason I say this is several thing combined. We are a unique fandom. It's like we are waiting for the other shoe to drop cause it's has been so good so far. It's has been always like this- When Neil was after ananya and his double standard, why Ali can't stay away from AvNeil, why avni is suddenly bahu-fied, why Neil don't have any case 😆 we have a steady rise of trp, we are reaching places. Drama is needed for story to move cause merely avneil cute scenes won't push be story ahead. And let's be practical, Amol/Kareena, bebe /Neil/ avni, neela giving advice on marriage these are filled scenes which don't actually build the solid base. They are additional scenes which comes after main story and enrich it. So next week (and the ma Kali one) were show's attempt at trp. Which they need so that we get these amazing characters.

What Sammy says is true, the hypocrisy of society when it comes to son/DIL. But I will disagree on a few parts.

- avni was adamant in her statement that she has no feelings for Ali . That was enough for that small nok jhok scene but not big enough to remove all traces of doubt. And honestly, Neil will always have that insecurity wrt Ali cause Ali and avni has a history and connection which has nothing to do with him. This mess, however chaotic will be remove it once for all. When Neil sees Ali and avni together he acts like a typical jealous man. (This is based on if he's actually being devdas cause he thinks it's true) + the ladies shouting and all. Avni keeps saying this staying in marriage is a ehsaan and Ali never shied away from his feelings. So can we actually blame him?

- trusting avni ^^^ continuing from this. Fine avni don't have feeling, what about Ali? Or what about he fact that she didn't have feelings before but now she's gradually developing? The scene itself was enough to turn heads. Neil is already on the edge and it drove him. He's always been an irrational man when it comes to her. Anyone Remember when amol did his accident and he spent the night in neela house? Next day DD came and said something about ananya and he lost it, destroyed her table. Then his entire arc about trying to arrest avni. When something don't go by his logic he lose it and start lashing. Even the recent one, he overheard one line from ali and basically told her to get out. So it's not surprising he's being a bewda devdas. Rhea is taking advance of a sad heartbroken man, that's a topic for another day.

- about avni not standing up for herself and Neil have to clear her name. You can blame it to Desi heroin problem or the fact that when fingers point at a woman's character no matter how much she yells it's all boil down to a man's word. Maybe cause we live under patriarchy. A man's word is last on any topic no matter how high pitch a woman yells. Avni was caught in a sudden situation and if we see from her pov, apart from the fact that it's circumstancial and she don't like Ali like that, she can't say anything else. I am completely innocent, this is all lies, bas yehi she can say. So someone outsider has to show that just cause she's a female doesn't mean it's about her modesty. It can happen to anyone regardless their gender.

Thoda zyada essay likh Diya 😆 I just hate how people are so sad and words like "character butcher" keeps flying everywhere. We need to have faith, and we need to stop waiting when the show will become bad. When it does everyone will see and move on.

Exactly. Neil handled this situation in the most awful way, and the precap shown for monday's epi with neil stopping avni from explaining herself to him on hearing the pregnancy thing is one example. An honest and smart cop like him would have let her speak and explain herself, but for the sake of drama they made Neil's character react so thoughtlessly without giving her a chance to speak. What kind of a cop does that even during a case, let alone to his own wife? 😡

You raise several valid points. I wasn't really a part of the naamkarann fandom until after Avneil's marriage, so this is the first time I've found myself panicking regarding the track. I suppose I have high expectations from Neil because so far he hasn't disappointed me, and I'm afraid that he might.

Neil's jealousy, though understandable, doesn't warrant the excessive drinking. Tbh, after the promo, I had expected him to take Avni's side regarding the Avni-Ali issue, irrespective of his jealousy. To be jealous of Avni's friendship with Ali, and to straight up stay mum when his family lashes out at Avni calling her characterless and accusing her of disloyalty are two very different things. The latter didn't sit well with me.

Neil has a tendency to lash out, yes, but he's never been party to people insulting Avni. I still remember his outburst during his chunri rasm, when he'd told Shweta that he was ashamed to call her his mother when she'd questioned Avni's character. It had been Avni and Neil back then, it was Avni and Ali this time. The difference in his instantaneous reactions is what makes me sad.

I've never said Neil's character will be butchered, I just said I hope his fundamental qualities are not compromised for this track.

@ Bold tho: 🤣
Bewda devdas is an apt nickname for this side of Neil.
