Chumko Cafe
"You love her, Don't you?" Neil turned around to see Ali's eyes trained on him.
"Ali" Neil looked anywhere but him.
"You know she is Avni and you still love her" Ali accused. "Love her when you know I have always loved her"
Neil was at loss of words, his eyes hesitating to meet Ali's eyes. He know that when one fails to meet other's eyes, they are guilty. Is he guilty? He loves Avni?
"Why are you looking away? Look here" Neil flinched as Ali raised his voice, tears streaming down Ali's eyes. "Look here at me"
Neil brings himself up to meet Ali's painful orbs, questioning him about his betrayal. Ali has always talked about Avni with him, how he is waiting for her and all that yet he fell for Avni. Yes He have fell for her.
"Neil say something" Ali grabbed his shoulders and yelled at him.
"I - I'm so- sorry Ali" That was all he could say, his eyes wet as well.
He watched Ali pushing him away, his eyes full of tears and pain. Ali reached for the knife at the table, his eyes flickering to Neil's once and then raised his wrist.
"Ali No" Before Neil could do anything, Ali slit his wrist, not once, not twice but thrice.
"ALII!"
Neil woke up with a jolt, drenched with sweat, shouting out his friend's name. This sure woke Avni up.
"Neil!! What happened? Neil, Neil are you ok?"
Neil looked at Avni with a terrified look, his dream playing before his eyes. Ali's words playing in his ears as he pushed Avni away and stood on his feet.
"Ali" He mumbled while Avni looked at him puzzled "Want to meet Ali"
Before Avni could say anything, Neil ran out of the room taking his mobile and car keys while Avni tried to stop him but in vain.

Chumko Cafe
Neil parked the car and rushed inside the cafe. It's two in the night and obvio the cafe is empty. Ali stays on the room in cafe building on wednesdays and it's a wednesday night. Using the keys Ali gave him, he went to Ali's room.
Ali was sleeping when Neil entered his room. Though it was situated in the cafe, It had Ali's and Avni's childhood pics hanging the walls, the room neatly decorated. Neil's heart ached to see their pictures together, guilty that he fell for someone who he shouldn't have.
He kneeled down beside the bed, his hand rising and falling to wake Ali. Gathering enough courage, he woke up Ali.
"Neil? What are you doing here at this time?"

"Here comes Ali's special hot chocolate" Ali said as he handed the mug to Neil and sat down with him "What happened Neil? You here at this time?"
"Ali ... I don't know how to start" Neil hesitated.
"Look, Just have this hot chocolate first and then spill everything"
Few minutes of silence danced over the air as Neil and Ali sipped on their drink, one being guilty while the other curious.
"Ali we have been friends for the past five years, you mean so much to me yaar" Neil said, eyeing at Ali "You have always told about Avni, how much you love her and what she meant for her"
Ali stilled at the mention of Avni, his eyes trained on Neil who felt difficult to meet his eyes. Why Neil is bringing this up now when he already moved on from her? Yes, Ali has moved on from her, he is now happy for both of his best friends.
"I - I'm sorry Ali. I don't know how it slipped from my mind but I - I started to fell f - for Aav - Avni"
Ali smiled inside hearing Neil's confession. It's some good six months Neil and Avni got married and Dayavanthi Mehtha and Diksha is behind the locks. Aman? He knows Avni is his sister but he still is distant with her and Avni is trying her best to get him back. He had difficulty for the first few months, seeing Neil and Avni holding hands, sharing those eyelocks and now he had perfectly moved on. He's happy for them.
"Neil... By any chance are you feeling guilty?" Ali asked, wrapping his arm around Neil's "Because if you are then drop it"
Neil looked at Ali shocked, his eyes clouding with confusion. Ali could understand that well. He pulled Neil closer.
"You know what Neil, Yes I loved her, She was there in my heart pretty long but guess what, She's happy with you and that is what means to me" Neil was too shocked to react.
"Yo-you mean?"
"Yes Neil, I have moved on and I'm happy for both of you" Ali said with a smile and finally the weight above Neil started to cease, his heart started to feel at ease.
"But Ali, Avni ... she I me - "
"We were soulmates Neil" Neil stilled at his words "But she was meant to be yours"

That night when Neil returned home, he saw Avni sleeping on the couch. He guessed she might be waiting for him and slept here. He swooped her in his arms and took her to their room. He settled himself next to her, his hand hesitated but he wrapped them around her, a feeling of completeness crossed through his heart and he closed his eyes to take the first sip of blissful sleep.
"She was meant to be mine" The thought playing in his mind.

Thank You for reading. My first try on Naamkaran. I think they are not focussing on Ali's turmoil on the show. He have loved her for fifteen years. Even if he know she is trying to get her house back, he would feel something. But love the current track. Thank You.
