Ashish is a man who can't stand up for himself, others, Asha or Avni.
Ashish loves Asha and Avni but he cannot take a stand for them. Dayaben realized her son is a wimp the minute she read his email about his relationship with Asha. She has taken his behavior to mean that it is Asha who is enticing him. To a certain extent she is right - at one point Ashish wanted to leave Asha but she got him to stay.

Asha has no problem with this weakness of Ashish. However, Avni is smarter and more worldly wise. She has in her own way realized that a Papa who cannot take a stand for himself cannot take a stand for her. He is a puppet in hands of his family, friends or society. Her Papa's world is different - it is one in which she does not belong . That is why she repeats to herself that "Papa will not come - will never come".

Avni's grief today was hard to watch :( She grew up by years in a matters of hours. Heartbreak does that to you. The defeated way in which she went to give the house to that other girl, and her convo with Ali...it was 🥺 On another note, Ali's prayer for the return of spunky Avni was so sweet :)

Avni is a realist, unlike Asha!!!!😳

Let's get Asha and Ashish married!!!!😛 😛

Even then Daya won't keep quiet but then we would get to see Avni and Daya clashing on a daily basis!!!!

I really do believe this is the point of the show. Avni refusing to take her weak, useless father's name and later she will also not take her husband's name. Perhaps Avni is the true heroine of this show.

For Avni to strive and discover independence, she has to let go of the craving for a normal family and Ashish has to get completely entwined in his mother's indebted selfish conspiracy for Neelesh bhai or whatever his name is.
Ashish is given as charity in this event 🤣 Or should I say beti's daan will be performed by her mom 😆😉
