Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi fame Kamalika Guha Thakurta has enchanted the audiences with her startling performances on television for more than a decade on television. The seasoned actress who was last seen on &TV's Badii Devrani has recently made an entry onColors top rated show Naagin.

Essaying the role of Guru Maa, the veteran spills some beans about her character and her reason to take up this show.

Kamalika, please shed some light on your reason to take up a supernatural show likeNaagin?

This show is faring well on the TRP chart and the character offered to me is an interesting one. My character in this show has a lot of color and will be well woven into the story. I find it challenging and I hence chose to be a part of Naagin.

Don't you think the concept of naagins and nagmanis are cliched?
Success of such shows indicate that such concepts have gone down well with the audience. Fairy tales do not have a shelf life. I take it as a figment of imagination. Moreover, this show is a finite series and I believe shows on television should not be taken seriously. It is purely for entertainment.

Please elaborate on your character and the reason you found it exciting to essay it?

Television has not seen many hunch back characters. Playing Guru Maa, her physical appearance, the way she walks and talks has a lot of mystery. The audience does not know if she is positive or negative so there is a lot of buildup of mystery which will unfold as the tracks progress.

Enjoying on the sets?

I have worked with Sudha Chandran before. Mouni Roy started her career with 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi' so I have known her as a co-actor well and Mazhar Sayed is a friend. So I am enjoying shooting with them.

Personally, what kind of characters do you like portraying?

I just finished Badii Devrani where I played an entrepreneur who is independent, rich and flashy and now I am shooting for a show which is on a different spectrum. I would take time to understand how I want to mold my character here. To answer your question, substantial roles which have content is something which inclines me.

Well said, Kamalika!

Mazher Sayed who played the role of Suri on Colors' Naagin recently ended his cameo stint after delivering a promising performance.

In a tete-a-tete with Tellybuzz, Mazher spoke about the kind of roles he enjoys doing.

Speaking about the reason behind choosing cameo role Mazher said, "Why not? It is the number one show, I was offered a grey character and it was a pivotal role which brought a major twist in the story. The character was enigmatic and I made my debut with Balaji Productions so it is a pleasure associating with them whenever I get an opportunity."

Now that the actor is no more a part of the show, we asked him about his experience shooting for Naagin.

Mazher quipped, "I have worked with Sudha Chandran and Manish Khanna 15 years ago forKahin Kisi Roz. Balaji Productions has been my home and after doing 6 to 7 shows, I haven't been working with them from the past 4 to 5 years now. So it was great coming back with experienced actors once again. Santram Varma is a fantastic director and it is always a pleasure working with him. Every day teaches us something different. I thoroughly enjoyed what I did and most importantly because my character was quirky."

Elaborating on the 'supernatural genre' trending, the talented actor claimed that he is glad that the audience still loves such genres.

"This genre is different and it reminds me of the movies from the 80's. I am happy that the audience loves this. I saw a few episodes and it is interesting in the way it is shot and narrated. I have grown up watching Nagina and Sridevi and I too love watching such dramas." He added.
