Thanks for the update, Huma đ¤
Okay, so...here's the thing.
If we hadn't just gone through a hypnosis/memory loss track, if this were the first time, this would have been really impactful. If I take this track in isolation, and forget about the things that have come before, then the angst of this episode is pretty damn great (disclaimer: I'm an angst fan, in general): you have Bani finally and fully accepting Veer as her soulmate, reaffirming that he's meant for her, you have the beautiful (absolutely beautiful) VAni scene where Veer sees her utter desperation for and love for him, you have Veer getting emotional (tears!
) and the cute nok-jhok, and the stalling of the ILU moment (classic TV trope) and then, just when you (and Bani) think the happy ever after is around the corner, bam! The rug is pulled out from under you. This is a classic Whedon move - to give you something beautiful and to immediately take it away (even temporarily). The fact that Veer doesn't even recognise Bani (and this is the guy who, when seeing her for the first time in this life, felt a connection) must be so painful to Bani, probably the only "punishment" she could get for not doing what this farishta wants that would actually hurt her. Veer forgetting her, after everything they've been through, is the worst thing Bani could ever imagine.
The problem is that we've already seen this "Veer loses himself" track, as recently as two weeks ago, and it's now so repetitive that it loses its impact on its audience. We know Veer will get his memories back and everything will be fine, but yeah, it's upsetting to have to watch that scenario play out yet again.
Obviously though, the audience is supposed to be upset by this. We're not supposed to like the fact that Veer and Bani have this gulf between them now, why would we? But that is what the suspense is supposedly about - how will they come back together. Like I say, classic angsty TV tropes.
The VAni hug scene was truly beautiful. Soft, emotional, deep, filled with love. I really, really enjoyed it. Great song choice, and I loved Veer tearing up (along with Bani)...he's waited so long for her to feel for him the way he feels for her. And he knows she does, whether she says it or not
(she will).
I liked Arjit today - great acting, and a cool character arc. But I don't get why he is so hung up on Bani punishing Veer (specifically, as opposed to the other cheels in general) if Shivji is happy with the union. I still don't trust this dude...it felt at one point like (as Jai indicated) this guy just doesn't understand how to see the cheels as anything other than evil, and so has taken it upon himself to right that wrong. Who knows what his real deal is but he seems overly aggressive for some random farishta who, what, goes around doling advice to people he thinks aren't fulfilling their life's mission? Why?
At first I kind of felt sorry for Ponky when he was all "bhabhi, you're in my team right?" (which...you've never shown such love to your bhabhi before
) but then ofc you remember that these people barring Veer and Tapish are actually evil. They have been involved in bad things, and no amount of comedy or faltu romance with the OMG twins will rid them of that stain. So I guess the cheels' day has come, but it looks like Balwant will use Veer's "memory loss" to fuel his own agenda against Adi Naagin, which in turn will give her another "reason" to kill them all. And Jai + Daksh + Ponky are all going to pay for that team-up too.
People wanted to see attitude-wala, badtameez Veer come back...well, I guess they got what they wanted đŹ (don't know why Veer apparently recognises the OMG twins but sees Bani as the maid? What kind of maid dresses like that?!). I know we don't like to see Veer being taken advantage of again and again, but the point I guess is that all the bad guys know that hurting Veer hurts Bani. He's the reason she's stalled on her revenge mission, and he's the reason she'll have to pick it back up again. I really wanted to see VAni work together on resolving this issue, but I guess Mukta feels this is the more angst-ridden option.
I liked that Shivji showed up as that baba to guide Bani to the right path...but if I were him, I'd have done something about that stupid pandit paltan who have been worse than useless the entire season. What is the point of those people if Shivji has to literally take some new roop each time to give Bani the answers she needs? Aren't they his disciples? Can he not tell them to guide Bani properly? So random, such a waste of scenes across the season.
The ep was not fun to watch, (aside from the VAni scene), but I can see where they're going with the track, and a lot of movement was made (i.e. Daksh and Ponky deciding to take advantage of Veer being unable to recognise Bani, and Jai deciding to use them as his pawns). But I really hope Veer is back to himself soon next week because I hate what they're doing to him. I guess with such little time left (đ) they'll work fast to exact the revenge on the rest of the cheels. Doesn't look like there'll be many more parties in their future.
Le sigh. Reiterating my wish here for SharBhi (and you know, the other actors on the cast are great too) to come together on another project, and soon. I need more of them. I'm nowhere near done with the two of them đ
