Hello everyone 🤗
I wrote another OS. A different take on yesterday's episode. I have made the effort to keep the dialogues minimalistic. Please read and share your views. Personally this made me feel really emotional.
'...Din raat ke bairi bhed ka
Rukh mod ke main rakh doon...'
Veer walked outside the cave. A whirlwind of emotions running in his mind.
He remembers, mom was with him when he got dressed up for school in the morning. She went away when he came back in the afternoon.
What can he say to the six year old who had cried himself to sleep most of the nights with the thought of losing his mom?
He remembers his coronation as the heir of the Cheel vansh. He could see joy in the grand celebration but with that he could see hope. Hope for a safe future.
What can he say to the prince of the Cheel vansh who had sworn his life to protect his kind?
He remembers how tightly he had gripped Bani's hand as they completed their wedding rituals. She wears the sindoor and mangalsutra of his name.
What can he say to the husband who knows that he failed to keep his wife safe?
Maybe his mother never loved him. Maybe she does. Maybe it's just the powers that she wants. Maybe she can still be a good person to him but he knows that she is pure evil. The kind of evil which has the potential to destroy his entire clan. The kind of evil which will be able to take away Bani's powers as she please even when Bani is Sarvashreshtha Adi Naagin.
Veer's mind and heart is numb. Suffering. That is the way he can describe it. It felt like tiny shards of his own broken heart were piercing in his being. It was pain and it was painful at the same time. He felt a pain so sharp as if his skull was cracking. Heavy, the air was agonizing. He knew he needed to she'd tears, at least a single drop but he was unable to. There was nausea in his thoughts. He was experiencing his own darkness engulfing in his senses. He does not want to recognize Chandrakala Singhania. Veer knew that he has lost his mother. Again.
Will she ever get reminded that Veer cared for her? That he would have died for her. That he would have run to the edges of the universe to bring anything that she asked for. That he loved her. Veer knew things would never be the same.
"Veeranshu" Bani called Veer. He looked back. A deep wound is sliced in the flesh of her upper right arm. He did not say a word. She stepped forward and wrapped her arms around him.
His embrace was warm and his big strong arms, protective, wrapped around her trembling body. The world around her crumbled down, nothing mattered. Nothing matters more than Veeranshu. Bani held onto Veer as if her life depended on it. Because she knew it did.
Her arms were soft yet strong. The feel of her body pressed against his soothed him more than he had expected. All the pain within him silenced. He had not realized how much he needed this until now.
The time stopped still. There was no danger, no threat and no pain. Bani's mind and body calmed down. She was at peace. Her heart knows that death did not scare her. But she was afraid. Afraid that she won't be able to see Veeranshu again. Afraid that she might lose him. She gave herself away against his body, solid and warm. In this moment, Veer held her body, heart and soul. This was the moment she had prayed for. She inwardly thanked her God.
At a distance, Veer saw Jay walking towards them. Veer raised his palm and gestured him to stop. Jay looked at him angrily. Veer summoned his wings and wrapped them around Bani protectively. Veers magic shook the ground beneath Jay's feet and his eyes threatened him to go away. Jay saw Bani hugging Veer. She did not pay attention even when he called her so Jay thought it was better to leave. He took his naag form and slithered away.
Veer scooped Bani in his arms and resumed flight back home. Bani noticed his features. He spoke nothing but she knew something had changed. He is miserable. She can see. His heart is breaking into a thousand pieces and still each broken part misses his mother like it missed her as a whole. She knew this was coming but she could never have prepared herself for what she saw now. The only thing she wants to do is protect his heart.
Veer gently placed her on the bed. She holds onto his shoulder when he touches her forehead, her cheek and her neck. Her body temperature is rising. The tamsic powers are affecting her again, he thought.
The pain Bani felt is not sharp like a needle point or a knife, it burns around her innards better than boiling water. Everything feels scolded and, moving or not, she is in more pain than she could have ever imagined was possible.
She had underestimated the tamsic powers. Pain seared through her abdomen better than a branding iron, her mind conceding to the torment, unable to bring a thought to completion. The burning pain is increasing in waves, little by little. small lulls giving false hope of an end. Each peak robs her ability to speak anything. It is crashing her mind. It is as though her blood has become acid, intent of destroying her from the inside out. All she can do is writhe, the occasional whimper escaping as a plea for help.
"Bani" Jay came at the doorstep of her room. "Tum theek toh ho." He asked. He got worried. He tried to step in but Bani raised his palm and gestured him to stop. "Jay abhi jaao yahaan se." She managed to speak. Veer walked to the door.
"Jay we can talk later, abhi jaao yahaan se." Veer said in a calm but lethal tone. "Par Bani, woh theek toh..." Jay was speaking when Veer cut his words. "Woh theek ho jaaegi. Don't worry. Leave." Veer closed the door at Jay's face.
Veer made her stand in the shower. The cool droplets of water envelop her as closely as her own skin. Every sore stung as it was being washed, but it is the only way to calm her raging mind and her burning body. She winced as the pain swirled without mercy, penetrating to the cells that should be protected by skin but lie open and raw because of cuts and blisters. After the initial surge of pain it ebbed she felt a newfound weightlessness for a while. Veer had to hold her body straight because she was quivering. She leaned into him and put her head on his chest for support. Veer enclosed her in his arms and healed the wounds on her back with his powers.
The water from the shower was cold but he could feel the warmth of Bani's tears on his chest. She felt like she is howling alone, on the verge of getting hurt. Sensations of guilt, regret and disgust are creeping into her body, her mind is on fire, thoughts are burning. Her shoulders are tremendously heavy, weighing her down, leaving her paralyzed. What an agony she has come to. No. she has survived.
That feeling of solitude dominates her heart, clinging to every thread of hope. The betrayal of the person she trusted the most or she thought, has left her heart abandoned, Sadness is hovering over her heart. Everything has changed. The memories of Jay made her feel like she is drinking venom. She hates him. She hates him with all her heart.
After helping her change into her night clothes, Veer tucked Bani in bed. "Sweet heart, thoda aaraam karlo." He pressed a gentle kiss on her forehead. Bani closed her eyes.
Bani found herself in the cave again. It is dark. She can see Markat who is going to attack her. She is going to die. She is looking for Veer, he is not there. She is not able to use her powers. She can see Markat laughing. She is trying to scream but her voice won't leave her mouth. In another moment, she is struggling to breathe. Markat wants to cut her body into two halves. She is coming closer.
Bani screamed. She woke herself up from the nightmare. Beads of sweat forming on her forehead. She is panting. Suddenly she felt so cold. She is alone in the room. Where is Veer. Worriedly, she got up from her bed, wrapped her blanket around her and hurried out of the room. She needs to find Veer.
Veer lay on the terrace, blankly staring at the night sky. Lost in his thoughts. He realized that a power struggle with his mother would mean that he would have to rip his heart from his chest and break it with his own hands. He was surprised when Bani lay beside him and covered both of them with a blanket. He wrapped his arm around her when she put her head on his chest.
"Tum sahi thhi Bani. Maa nahi Markat hai woh. Unhe taakat ke alawa kuch chahiye hi nahi. Apna beta bhi nahi." Veer spoke everything he was thinking about.
"Tum bhi Jay ke iraado ke baare mein sahi thhe Veer. Maine tumhe bohot galat samjha aur tumhaare saath bohot galat kiya. Mujhe toh soch ke bhi darr lagta hai ke Jay meri jaan le sakta thha."
"Jay ne meri bhi jaan lene ki koshish ki hai Bani." Bani was shocked as Veer spoke.
"Kab aur kaise?" She was desperate to know more.
"Madad maangne tumhara roop lekar aayaa tha woh. Usne mujhe pinjre mein band kar diya thha. Uss waqt jaan chali hi jaati meri agar sahi waqt pe gandhak nahi aayaa toh."
"Bohot galat kiya maine Veer aur bohot galat hone bhi diya. Ho sake toh mujhe maaf kardo. But please, ... Please dont give up on me. Jo kuch bhi galat hua uski wajah se please mujhe chhodkar mat jana." Tears rolled down her cheeks.
"Jay se nafrat karta hoon main Bani. Uss har ek pal se nafrat karta hu jab usne tumhara bharosa jeeta aur uss bharose ka faayda uthaya lekin yeh nafrat sach toh nahi badal sakti naa. Sach yahi hai ke tumse alag main khudke baare mein sochna chahta hi nahi hoon. I love you. Tum meri ho."
The moon became witness that Bani connected to a part of him others never feel. She saw a part of his soul he never wanted to let out. She gently touched his face and saw his reaction, beautiful and raw. For those moments Veer is more real than the blood in her own veins, and she could feel him like the beating of her own heart. They shared their vulnerabilities, interlocking our hearts as much as their fingers. He took root in her in a way she has never let another soul do, feeling that he is her shelter and she is his.
"Main tumhaare paas hu Veer, tumhaare saath. You are safe. Jay tumhara kuch nahi bigaad sakta. Markat ki shakti tumhe chot nahi pohocha sakti. Main tumhe kuch nahi hone dungi. I promise." Bani whispered against his heart beat.
