To Mahir he just wanted to do his 'duty' right as far as this relation was concerned. And to Bela he was a 'stranger', a 'culprit' to be punished.

Btw, Mahir was always naughty... it was evident when he helped Bela and Suhani in kitchen... He likes tickling people, putting them in spots, watching them struggling when put in a spot and being privately amused at it... He loves to watch reactions and gauge them.

When suhani-Pratham hugged in kitchen scene, the look he gave Bela was so damn mischievous.

And all that 'Shivji helped' explanation...He was sooo enjoying it!

Bela just manages to bring it out with her offhand remarks and I'm-my-own-lord demeanor! How he likes poking at that!
