We all get played like the fool once and again, but the thing to remember is that those times are for learning; gaining new knowledge, understanding signs, & eventual forgiveness. You are not a fool. You are just naive & trusting, so when people try to play you as a fool, you simply have to teach yourself calmly on how not to fall into that trap again.
Innocence is not to be diminished or removed in these situations. Innocence is the essence of purity within us that believes in the good in people. Unfortunately, there are bad people out there that try to steer us into a cold, hard, dark place, but you mustn't let them. You must preserve your innocence while protecting yourself at the same time.
