Please dont waste your time on Himesh... This may give him undue publicity.. He does not read what ppl have written about him.. He just sees his name in a comment and counts that person as his fan...

I wish Asha ji had actually slapped him when she made that comment regarding slapping him.. He neeeds it badly....

Whats so funny? He has a bigger fan following than any other singer. Why do you think his concerts do better than any other singer and his CDs also sell more?

Reading the posts it seems Shreya is wrong in saying about Himesh.

May be she has less knowledge of music.

Bro, If Himess had won the National Award for Aashiq Banaya Apne, even that would not make him a great singer.

And all the fans of logic out there. Here's a piece of logic.

1. A good singer has to have certain qualities to be considered good - these are all parts of singing, eg singing in key, expression etc etc and can be detected through listening with EARs

2. Not all good singers are popular
3. Not all popular singers are good

4. Awards are given to singers who are good but unpopular (this is rare) OR who are popular but bad OR who are popular and good
5. So awards/nominations CAN end up in the hands of popular but bad singers

Assuming a world where there are only two ways of measuring the talent of the singer, i.e. your EARS and AWARDS, we have the following results:

a. From points 4 and 5, we can say that awards are not an indicator of how good a singer is.
b. From point 1, we can say that your EARs ARE an indicator of how good a singer is.
c. Therefore the only way of judging a singer is by listening and comparing with other singers. Awards mean nothing.

I disagree with #4. Awards are not given to those who are popular but are not that good.

I'll use Salman Khan as an example. One of, if not the most popular actor in bollywood. Go check how many filmfare awards he has.


Awards are given to good singers, and good singers only.


And don't forget, Awards are determined by the EARS of people who judge singing for a living. So they go hand in hand, and are not separate from each other.

You're right. Maybe people like xobile and slumdog know more about music than Shreya Ghosal. Sure seems they think so. They think they know more music than people who judge music for a living. 😆

But maybe theres some problem in my ears and brain which makes me think that lots and lots of male singers out there are better than Himesh. In fact, I am sure Shreyaji would agree with me that Aashiq Banaya Apne was NOT better sung than many songs of 2005. And I am sure she would not count Himesh as one of her top 5 male singers of India.

But maybe I am missing something. Maybe Aashiq Banaya Apne WAS better sung than Suna Mann Ka Aangan from Parineeta.

And that's exactly what I want to know from you, ssk... was Aashiq Banaya better sung than those three song sof 2005?? The more you avoid the question, the more people will think that you also agree that Aashiq Banaya Apne was NOT better sung and that you don't want to admit it.

Who said anything about Himesh being a Top 5 singer? You're far from believing that and thats not the discussion anyways.


But I don't know about you, but at least some others here think he can't sing at all and is a horrible singer. So I guess those think that they know more about music than Shreya Ghosal and others who judge singing for a living.
