Shreya seems to be alone

At the start of the show we all were saying that Shreya's team was strong but after yesterday's episode I feel Shreya seems to be alone.

I think Shreya's team is awesome. I thought Ujjaini's Mayya Mayya was flawless and Rahman was amazing too. I would rate Abhaas and Aneek as a couple of the best male singers in the show.

The problem is that Shreya's team's talent is not being given due recognition because they aren't very charismatic. They don't connect with the audience enough.

I mean, compare Sharib and Abhaas - who is more likely to be popular with the audience? Or compare Rahul Vaidya and Aneek. Or Neeti Mohan and Ujjaini. In all these cases, Shankar Mahadevan's team members (Sharib, Rahul, Neeti) are more likeable/popular than Shreya's team (Abhaas, Aneek, Ujjaini).

I'm not sayin that Aneek and Abhaas don't have fans, Im just saying that in the format of the show, they have to work very hard to get the same recognition as Rahul and Sharib - coz Rahul and Sharib try and be 'kewl dewds' and try to be stylish. Personally, I would choose Aneek and Abhaas over Rahul and Sharib any day - it's a battle of genuine vs. tacky in my eyes. But often the public goes for the tacky coz its more memorable and more fun.

This is just my analysis but I'm sure there are otehr explanations.

In yesterdays performances Abhaas was good in Chaiya Chaiya but the second performance he was ordinary. Aneek's performance was average.Ujjaini did not get chance.Rehman was good.

In the medley round it was more shouting then singing.Shreya singing and Shahrukh's dance was best in the medley but it was too much shouting by Shreya's team and coordination in singing was missing.

It seems Shreya is taking the load of the team and the team looks average.

What do you say guys?

Ujjaini did sing in the medley round and was awful, short of breath, voice cracking and all of this. Maybe due to having become overweight and singing while prancing all over the stage?????

It was simply awful.

I feel so bad for whatever seems to be happening or seems to have happened with so many singers who held a lot of promise!!

I am least impressed with aneek also on the whole in this competition and so many others.

Compared to aneek, Raja has kept up his standards even though the crowd swayi magic seems to have waned a little bit which I find very sad.

Rehman was good, very raw and straight from the heart singing. Raja pure melodious singing. Lakhwinder genius effortless singing least mindful of pleasing wither the crowd or the judges. Himani continues to nurture her fantastic rich voice. Vineet was good yesterday. Apart from these I am not impressed with anyone else and so will not mention any more singers.

Consistency has been sorely missing for the most of them.

As far as judges singing goes, Himesh has been a huge disaster.

Mohit not that very impressive.

Mika has been Mika as usual.

Shreya has been brilliant.

Shaan too.

And Shankar awesome and flawless.

These are my opinions and solely mine as an ardent lover of music and not wanting to take sides.

@ Raghuraj, just to pick up on your comment on Ujjaini's weight. I completely agree that her weight gain is seriously hampering her dancing - and dancing is essential in the high tempo medley rounds.

Just for people's info (a bit of trivia i guess): Ujjaini has been training as an Opera singer (i think theyre called sopranos). Being fat (as most sopranos are) is an advantage in this art form. I say this after a doing a bit of research on google so im no authority - but I think we all noe, an Opera isn't over until the FAT lady sings.

I think this (and her Bengali love of food) have made her gainweight very quickly. Her opera has thoroughly improved her singing - she can now sing falsetto and do more western inflexions with ease (as we saw in Mayya Mayya). But it has also made her lose stamina. She just can't sing (or even breathe easily! :O) when shes dancing.

Oh sorry you didn't say that. It was Lotus who mentioned her weight. Anyway, I wasn't really challenging whoever said it. In fact when I saw Ujjaini I thought she had gotten really fat and I did some research to find out why/how. And I think the reason for her weight gain + her new western styles might be Opera. Just giving a bit of background knowledge. :D

But yeah it was a little trivia for anyone interested about Ujjaini's weight gain/shortness of breath.

In teams with music directors they have adv of not taking them in comparison with singing so team member get chance to flare but in shreyas team she is such a outstanding singer herself that she overshadows everyone n her own team.. It's kinda become disadv to her coz to do well she has to come to stage to save team but then team becomes weak in overall.. But then even the members r pretty avg singers none outstanding so..
