This is heartbreaking. Unki awaaz sunke aisa sukoon milta tha.. because I knew it would be followed by my favorite songs. But also because it was so comforting. Like a beloved grandpa. That thread of assurance and comfort and joy never dimmed. Chahe kuch bhi ho, it was one thing that remained constant. Such a loss..personal lagta hai somehow smiley19

Thanks for sharing, Mousy. She has a lovely voice, aur woh trained classical singer bhi thi. Lata Mangeshkar used to say that the one actress who lip-synced perfectly to her songs was Nutan. Right down to her throat movement when she was fake singing on screen. Ye unki classical training ka nateeja hai.

One of my favorite actresses ever. Posting some of my favorite Nutan songs.

Kaali ghata chaye mora

Film: Sujata (1958)

Music: S.D. Burman

Lyrics: Majrooh Sultanpuri

Singer: Asha Bhosle

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pDso0RJo-0Y

Man mohana bade jhoote (I think isi gaane ko lekar Lata Mangeshkar ne woh comment kiya tha)

Film: Seema (1955)- she was soo good in this!

Music: Shankar-Jaikishen

Lyrics: Shailendra

Singer: Lata Mangeshkar (also one of my favorite Lata songs - how she rocks Raag Jayjaywanti!)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uXGMxTTB_Dg

Tune hayye re mere zakhm-e-jigar ko choo liya

Film: Nagina (1951) - Nutan's first starring role, she was just 14 I think in this, opposite Nasir Khan, Dilip Kumar's brother. Funny she didn't act opposite DK until much later.

Music: Shankar - Jaikishen

Lyrics: Shailendra

Singer: Lata Mangeshkar

She's one of my all-time favorite actresses. Bandini, Seema, Saudagar, etc. movies I watched many times, aur har baar Nutan ki brilliant & effortless natural acting mesmerize kar deti hai. Apart from acting & singing, she was a good swimmer also, I read somewhere that she was a national champion.

Yes she was a good swimmer. Ye unki mother, Shobhana Samarth ke progressive thinking ka result hai. She ensured her daughters grew up like that.

I think one of her movies actually shows her diving/ swimming. If I'm not mistaken it's Dilli ka Thug

Yes, you are right, vo Dilli ka Thug mein swimming champion thi. Shubha Khote, her co-star in the movie Seema, was also a national champion in swimming & cycling.
