Reshammiya sees red in 'Red'
By Vickey Lalwani 2007 Bollyvista.com

Himesh Reshammiya
Music director Himesh Reshammiya is upset because his songs have been used as a backdrop for nearly 27 minutes of erotic lovemaking in Vikram Bhatt's forthcoming film 'Red'.

Buzz is, Himesh was given a totally different brief for 'Red'. He was told that the film was a romantic thriller, but the film has turned out to be an erotic film instead.

Kangan Ranaut dances to the tunes of Himesh Reshamiya
Bollywood Trade News Network

View SHAKALAKA BOOM BOOM Music Release - Picture GalleryWell we have all seen Kangana in serious emotional roles earlier, right? Now all you Kangana fans can expect some thing different from her. She will soon be seen in Suneel Dharshan's film SHAKALAKA BOOM BOOM. The film is based on the music industry. For the first time Kangana will dance in this film and what better than dancing to the tunes of Himesh Reshamiya.

Not that easy though as she has to dance with two good dancers - Bobby Deol and Upen Patel. Knowing this fact our strong willed Kangna has already taken dancing lessons and worked very hard on her steps. And the results are for all to see. Kangana has done a fantastic job dancing beautifully matching steps with both the macho heroes.

Suneel Dharshan's films are all family oriented. Kangana has a very strong character in the film of an upcoming singer and is the love interest of both her male co-stars. Her looks in the film are totally changed by Manish Malhotra. Well all we can do is wait and watch the film.

Himesh Reshammiya is a name that shines among the brightest in Bollywood. He has made musical marks after a long phase of struggle and strife that steeled in him his musical genius.

HIMESH RESHAMMIYA IS now a brand in the Bollywood music industry. He has a huge fan-following despite the critical barbs for "singing with a nasal twang". His songs are hot-selling and are a money churner for the music industry.

But Himesh had to slug it out to reach here. He was just 13 when he lost his elder 22-year-old brother. His father, Vipin Reshammaiya — veteran Gujarati music director — was shattered by the loss and looked up at the younger son. Himesh, forced by adversity, untiringly applied himself to his work to fulfill the expectations of his father. If he has made it this big, it's mainly because of the inspiration he got from his father and the strong situational motivation to excel.

"Singing has always been my hobby," says Himesh. But he did not let it remain at that and honed his musical skills to scale ever-greater heights. "Basically, I think, my style is quite versatile and I can do anything from raga-based songs to contemporary numbers. I had a terrific run last year. I really like making music for young people. But, at the same time, I believe that songs should not be devoid of melody. In my song you find both melody and orchestration."

Himesh was born on July 23, 1975. In 2003 Filmfare Awards, he won the nomination for the Best Music Director award for Aashiq Banya Aaapne. The prestigious Filmfare Awards once again conferred on him the title of Best Playback Singer. In 2006 Zee Cine Award, he was adjudged the Best Playback Singer (Male) for the number Aashiq Banya Aaapne. Earlier, he had bagged at the 2004 Zee Cine Awards the honour for being the Best Music Director for Tere Naam.

Himesh was crazy about music right from his childhood. At just 16, he started producing serials. He started composing title tracks of these serials. He got his first break as a producer with Ahmedabad Doordarshan. One of his biggest feats as a producer was the success he got for the movie, Andaz. Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya in 1998 was the biggest turning point in his life. The movie's soundtrack was a great hit and put him in the top league. Humraaz in 2002 was another big milestone in his career. Then came, Tere Naam. From here, he didn't have to look back.

Says Himesh, "It has been a fascinating journey. Right from producer to composer to singer to endorsing fashion labels to becoming an actor. I am so lucky to play so many roles in a single life. Aap Ka Suroor is actually a semi-autobiography of my life and is directed by my friend Prashant Chadha. As for the questions as to why I wear a cap and why there is pathos in my eye, you will get the answers when you see this film."

Excited at the prospect of encouraging new talent, Himesh says, "I guess it's payback time for me. Whatever I have gained from music I want to pass on to the young generations. I had such little guidance when I was starting out. Now, I want the youngsters to get the opportunities which I didn't get."

Himesh's dream for the future include opening of music schools all over the country. "I'm planning to open hi-tech music schools all over the country under the banner of Himesh Reshammiya School of Music. The centers would be located in Mumbai, Delhi, Madras and Kolkata. There will be two centers in each town. It's a very huge project. The interiors will be done by Italian architects who are being roped in for their expertise. I want to change the face of music schools in this country," he reveals.

"So far, we have had music schools associated with guru-shishya parmapara. In my school, I intend to do away with this and make the process of music learning more friendly than forbidding," says Himesh.

By IndiaFM News Bureau, March 10, 2007 - 07:25 IST

Himesh Reshmmiya, the name reminds you of the nasal voice which has been healing millions of broken hearts through his signature style of emotional music.

The singer and lyricist turned actor is now shooting in full swing for his debut film Aap Ka Suroor (which was also the name of a song from his first album). The film is being directed by Prashant Chadha and is said to be inspired from Himesh's real life love story.

Aap Ka Suroor is being shot in Stuttgart, Germany and will see Himesh as the lead hero along with debutante Riaa, whose identity has been kept under wraps

Sex, lies and videotape

Himesh Reshammiya is unhappy about his songs being used in Vikram Bhatt's Red as erotic music videos

Currently shooting in Menheim in Germany, Himesh is not too happy with the way his songs have been used in Vikram Bhatt's Red to enhance the love-making sequences between Aftab Shivdasani and Celina Jaitley.

Himesh Reshammiya
"What can I say?" Himesh shrugs. He adds, "The ways in which the songs are shot aren't in the composer or the singer's hands. Of course, I was told that the songs were to be treated sensuously. But sensuous and excessively erotic are two different things. It looks really odd, what can I do? "

At the moment, Himesh is busy shedding extra kilos and shooting for his first film, Aap Ka Suroor, as the leading man.

He says, "The scale of the film is unprecedented. We're going to locales in Germany, Australia and other parts of Europe where no Hindi film has been shot before. We're transporting private jets, choppers on location and a foreign crew of 150 people all over Europe. We're here in Europe for a 70-day schedule. We have already finished a week-long shoot here."

Himesh is very comfortable in front of the camera extra pounds notwithstanding. He says, "Since I've been acting in all my music videos, I never thought about behaving like an actor. But yes, I'm convinced about whatever I'm doing. I've been emoting for my own songs for a long time. I'm really enjoying myself. We were in pre-production for five months. And now we intend to wrap up in the next three-and-a-half months. The schedules are hectic. We wrap up the shooting by 7 pm and wake up again at around 4.30 am."

Himesh Reshammiya has lost more weight for his acting debut. "I had already lost a lot of weight in India before I started shooting for my film. In all, I've lost about 15 kilos for this film," he says.
