'My penance is finally paying off'

"Music is my soul and when I sing, I feel it's exalted me onto a different level of spirituality," says singer-actor Himesh Reshammiya about his musical scores. His forthcoming romantic thriller, Aap Kaa Surroor — The Movie — A True Luv Story, is already in news with its music reaching beyond borders.

Directed by Prashant Chadha and produced by Vijay Taneja, the movie is scheduled for its release on June 29 this year. With seven original tracks and seven remixes, this is perhaps for the first time that Indian film music has been released in Pakistan. "This will be first Hindi film album that has been permitted for release across the border. The album is a tribute to RD Burman, and boasts names like Asha Bhosle, Sunidhi Chauhan, and Shreya Ghoshal," says an elated Himesh Reshammiya.

The music release of Aap Kaa Surroor includes chart busters like Assalam Vallikum (played as a hit track across clubs), Tera Mera Milna, Tanhaiyyan, Jhoot Na Bolna and more. Actor Mallika Sherawat who will be playing a negative character in this movie has two songs featuring her including Mehbooba and Teri Yaadon Mein.

Himesh's sop opera

Himesh Reshammiya offers yet another peace offering to Asha Bhonsle. He will incorporate the song 'Mehbooba' in his film instead of using it as a promo video

Himesh Reshammiya surely knows to how to grab the limelight. After we wrote about Mallika Sherawat being the surprise package in his debut film Aap Ka Surroor, now we hear that the song 'Mehbooba', which was supposed to be used as a promotional video, is now a part of the film. The song is a tribute to composer R D Burman and Himesh has incorporated the song in the film to more to pacify Asha Bhonsle, than anything else.
A source from the unit says, "The producer of the film Vijay Taneja had bought the rights of the song 'Mehbooba' from Universal and Himesh was supposed to shoot this song with Mallika Sherawat for the promotional video. Earlier Himesh had gone to Asha Bhonsle and apologised for his comments about R D Burman and Ashaji was kind enough to do the song for him. Now taking another step forward, Himesh has decided to use the song in the film instead. The song will be shot on a specially designed set in May end. Now the duration of the song will be longer and Ashaji is thrilled with the news. The song will be Himesh's tribute to R D Burman and Asha Bhonsle, who incidentally were the original singers of the song."
Himesh says, "It is true that I have decided to incorporate the song in the film now. It was an afterthought. I intend to have a grand picturisation of the song this month in Mumbai."
Talking about his patch-up with Asha Bhonsle, he says, "Ashaji has a big heart. I apologised to her and she was very sweet to me. She has done a wonderful song for me. I feel honoured that I got an opportunity to sing a classic number 'Mehbooba' with her."

Emran Hashmi on Himesh Reshammiya

The actor, whose latest movie is being released today, talks about his forthcoming projects and clears the air about his so called tiff with Himesh Reshammiya.
On Himesh copying his rough & tough style: "I was zapped when I heard the rumours that I was supposedly miffed with Himesh, for copying me in his movie Aapka Suroor. It is really not true. Firstly, I don't think I am iconic enough that somebody will copy me. Moreover, Himesh's USP is his 'capped' look. As long as he wears that, he can never look or be like me!"

Spot the difference

Himesh Reshammiya created a huge ruckus on the sets of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. The singer-turned actor was highly irritated to see his lookalike among the audience, who kept imitating him all through. Reportedly, the guy was a big fan of Himesh, who aped him from his looks to his singing style. As the channel could not take the risk of annoying the star judge, he was thrown out in no time.

What are your views on Himesh Reshammiya?
I'm very proud of him, he's taken Indian music to another level, to international shores. I have huge respect for him, he's a brilliant singer and composer.

madhu thank you so much for posting the interview 👏 it was definitely worth the wait & one thing I can say for sure is that it seems himeshji has been pushed too far now & won't take any more rubbish from ppl 😉
