Music should strike fire from the heart of man, and bring tears from the eyes of woman.

Discussion Questions:
1. What do you think about this quote?
The quote is apt for the thought process of Beethoven's time. As Megz said "why isn't it the other way around?"
I think the reason is mainly because Beethoven was born in a sexist period. Men were traditionally regarded as strong and not prone to shedding tears in comparison to women in the 1700s.
Even today, a man who sheds tears is called a sissy.
2. Have you ever heard of Beethoven's music pieces? If so how did you find them?
Beethoven is in my current Avatar - if anyone didn't know.😉 He is my favourite Western Classical composer from the Classical Period.
I've heard most of his compositions online and there is something about him which stands out to me. Even over Mozart, who is regarded as better by many others.
3. Did this quote touch you by any chance?
When I hear it in isolation, it does not really touch me. It feels like a generic music quote. I must understand the context in which it was said to understand its true significance.
Do not feel limited to these questions, throw in some of your opinions too😊
Enjoy!
