Reshammiya to undergo nasal surgery soon
Polyps have been causing his nasal twang

There's news for all those who have been heckling Himesh Reshammiya's nasal approach to music. Apparently the twang in the singer's tone wasn't solely a result of singing on high notes, as he claimed. It was also the result of nasal polyps.
This was discovered on Thursday afternoon, when the singer complained of difficulty in breathing during a rehearsal. "I did have some breathing problems, and the occasional nosebleed, but never really bothered about IT," says Himesh. "But on Thursday, I was in too much discomfort to ignore the problem. So I finally went to an ENT specialist, who told me that I have a couple of polyps growing in my nose, which have probably been there for months now."
Polyps are swollen skin, lining the inside of the large air spaces that exist in the bones of your nose. They look like small bunches of grapes. They exist in 1 to 4 per cent of people and are two to four times more frequent in men compared to women. They create difficulty in breathing easily through the nose.
Himesh is having the polyps removed through a simple surgery tomorrow. "I've been told that it's a simple, day procedure, although they will be using general anesthesia," informs Himesh. "I am apprehensive, of course."
Himesh's fans are apprehensive too. They're wondering that when he gets back to work, and singing, will he be able to strike those high notes again. Or will he be singing in a completely different tune.
