i'm rach_nir... i've been here on IF for almost 2 and a half months now and i love posting here
i usually post in the EMET/SRGMP section... and sometimes i browse around the music corner section.
my nickname is chana (chaa-nah) 😉
i love AR Rahmanji's work because:
- his music always makes me happy
- all of his music tracks (minus one or two tracks...-soniya re from saathiya and i think fanaa from yuva) are original
- he's versatile with genres- can make outstanding classical music, dance music, "hip hop"/r & b music, bhangra (sp?) and as u can see... basically anything.
- each and every one of his tracks hold a heavy feeling to it...wether it be connected to the subject of the song, or maybe the tempo/beat just goes parallel with my feelings (when i was rlly small, if i'd start crying, someone would play the "roja" title track and i'd stop crying...aww 😛 ... 😆
my favorite composition made by AR Rahman is...way hard to choose. bt if i had a top 5 list it would be something like
- Taal:Ishq Bina
- Bombay-Kehna Hai Kya
- Rang De Basanti- Rubaroo
- Rangeela- Rang Rang Rangeela Re
- Taal- Taal Se Taal Mila
(not necessarily in that order)
(these are definately not the only tracks that can fit in the top 5 list)

i came to know about this club when i was browsing around the music corner section. its a greatt idea sweetdisha!!

i joined this club so i can share whatever i know about AR Rahman, and so i can learn new stuff about him as well. i'd love to meet other AR Rahman admirers here, and i just hope that ppl keep joining cuz AR Rahman is a really great composer for many reasons, and i feel that ppl should recognize his accomplishments and see how much he's achieved in his lifetime.

i'll post articles about AR Rahmanji... will post pics of any forthcoming ventures... quotes made by him... new songs/links to them... and i'm currently working on a signature thats based on AR Rahmanji... so plzz watch my signature space in the coming future.

I hope you are enjoying here.You wrote that you feel all tracks of Rahmanji are original minus one or two, you mentioned soniya re from Saathiya n Fanaa 4m Yuva.Would you please be a bit specific.I mean if you think that this tracks are not original please feel to write why do you feel so.

Post anything you alike to share about Rahmanji in this thread without violating the rules of this club (I am sure u wouldnt).But please dont post any pictures now...Swetha (A.S.P.I.R.E.), the very active and creative member of this club is going to start a picture gallery very soon...we are going to post the pictures there.

about his two tracks that i feel are not original... i shouldnt have said that cuz i have no specific proof with me... bt i remember once when i was watching "close-up antakshari"... they had this one round where the musicians played a western tune, and someone had to hit the buzzer and sing the "indian" version as they liked to call it... and once they played the O humdum soniya re tune... and then a team sang the song. then after they got the points, anu kapoor and pallavi joshi were quoting the names of the two songs.

as for fanaa... my dad said he heard this song that was the exact same tune. BUT he wasnt sure. so... should not have sed it...sorry!

found some half known facts about AR Rahman... here:

-Studied Western classical music as a student at Oxford University in the UK.

-He was nominated for a 2003 Laurence Olivier Theatre Award (The Hilton Award) for Best New Musical of 2002, "Bombay Dreams," performed at the Apollo Theatre, West End, London, and on Broadway in New York City.

-On August 15, 1997, he released an album called "Vande Mataram," on Columbia/SME Records, to commemorate 50 years of Indian independence. A tribute to the motherland, it featured songs for each of the Indian flag colors. The album was released simultaneously across the world in 28 countries, and Rahman himself performed in New Delhi to a packed audience including the honorable Indian Prime Minister. Over 1.2 million copies were sold in India alone.
