Amen to the equation of a father and son...
For all the machinations.. strategies.. hatred.. vengeance. baagage.. our dark lord carries within himself.. his protectiveness.. his affection for his sons is unquestionable.. saying he is just an embodiment of hatred is trivializing the depth and layers in that man.. Although there is no denying those very emotions have to a great extent been a part of his psyche..
He is a responsible father.. in spite of being branded a machiavellian he does look out for the welfare of his family.. he does want peace to prevail in his son's life..
today's sequence reminded me of a fav song ... sung by loads of different singers.. on a very edgy relationship..

the way IMV handled VVs angst.. was so mature and smart.. making sure he asked this resilient question that bothered him... but when his son tried his hand at euphemism.. IMV in sig style went right to the point.. I 🤣 so bad at the galat sawaal.. there is no skirting the issue with this man..
He took no time to make it clear that some things were still not negotiable.. that woman had none of his affection.. her place in HIS LIFE.. in THEIR LIFE (including his son's) was NO DIFFERENT from what it was..
Find a girl, settle down..
He may have lied through his teeth about the business deal bit.. but he was genuinely honest when he said... that girl is YOUR DESTINY.. so its only good for you to make her your love.. and a part of your life.. like you still havent.. the best part of it was his extreme conviction.. filtering in the statement.. Learn to designate a right place for EACH and EVERY equation.. you married that girl voluntarily.. so ACCEPT the responsibilities that come with it..
I was once like you are now.. and I know its not easy to be calm.. when you know something's going on..
Having lived his own life with similar angst.. I dont think he would want the same for his son.. if anything he would want to get the angst away from it.. burn it out like he said.. but definitely there was no negotiating his stand and conviction.. coz he doesn't see any other way..
At the same time.. if he being in a similar place could have at least socially accepted the responsibilities of a husband, a father.. there is no reason his son shouldn't
take your time.. think a lot.. think of EVERYTHING YOU'VE GOT.. for you will be still be here tomorrow.. but your dreams may not..
He very calmly tells his able son.. that this is his chance to prove to himself.. to control his emotions.. to be a better , stronger man.. to think if its worth losing everything he has for running behind a dream.. that in all fairness will never be real.. only be his nemesis

As he walked away.. leaving VV in his dilemma.. I couldn't help but sympathize with V..
How can I try to explain.. when I do, he turns away again.. its always been the same.. same old story..
His awe for his dad even in the face of this storm is impressive.. with all the courage that he walked in that door.. as soon as IMV motioned him to proclaim his doubts.. he became nervous.. his eyes lowered.. he withdrew in a shell.. he gathered enough strength to politely ask his question..
from the moment I could talk.. I have been ordered to listen..
As IMV went on with his convictions.. his advice for his son.. all VV did was listen.. just as he always had.. never raising a voice of objection.. it was nothing new.. what was new was this unnatural hint of affection from his dad.. the man he had grown up to admire for his ruthless business strategies.. for once everything sounded true.. sounded right.. for any father to say..
but the man who said it wasn't just any father.. he always had sight on the big picture.. and while VV cldnt deny IMV was looking out for his family and son.. he cldnt get himself to live with the perception that.. that was it.. coz he knew his father better than that.. having lived in his shadow for that long..

for once in spite of the extreme greek tragedy song in the bg from gangster (I cld never get myself to like this song for the OTTness esp after liking the theme of the original regional song this was blatantly inspired from) I felt bad for VV.. esp wrt to the fbs he had.. of the woman taking shots for him.. and then asking him to be in his limits and wake up to reality.. as usual he sat by himself and gulped his grief and unfairness life has meted out to him in some form..
Its hard .. but its harder to ignore it..
on some levels he is frustrated with himself.. for not being in control.. for finding it hard to ignore it.. especially the endless torture his mind goes through after staring in the face of 2 women.. almost behavioral clones.. one he cant help but love.. and the other.. he ought to love.. coz she of all ppl deserves it.. but can't help it..
He knows its best for him and everyone else to just settle down with this girl but he just cant see why he cant bring himself to do it.. esp when it should be easy.. considering she is much like his only object of affection in some ways..
So in summary.. while on grounds of practicality I completely agree and support IMV.. and his concerns for his family and son.. I can't help but feel sorry for VV.. (which is rather sad coz thts how weak he comes across.. wonder where the strong man who had immense courage and sanity vanish)
And on both accords.. I rest my objective case.. kudos to the CVs for giving such a poignant portrayal of the subtle tension between father and son dynamics..
