A Quest

The sky was dark, the moon round and yellow

I walked along the murky waters to meet my Aunt Sallow

A clever magician she was and I asked her a gift to make

A jewel for a friend of mine, that's true and not fake.

Who is this friend she asked, her eyebrows raised curiously

When I told her who it was she stamped her foot furiously.

How could you -- she screeched, and threw up her arm

She tore her hair and hissed while I shrank back in alarm.

A curse you are, for you don't have even an ounce of shame

For this I'll turn her into a toad and she'll never be the same

Oh please Aunt Sallow please don't this to her

You'll hurt her dainty heart and her wings of gossamer

Begone with you, you horrid fiend, go out into the bog

I left with Vulrich, Hooty and Fergie my favourite frog.

I went to the ocean to dive into the rising wave

I reached deep down to meet the eel looking grave.

He showed me the way to the eight handed octopus

And I told him the whole story without making a fuss.

Is that all, he said and soon tossed his arms about

The water swirled as the whale threw water from its spout.

The shark showed his teeth and eyed me with disdain

You little creep he said you really have no brain.

I lost my temper and turned my eyes to tiny green slits

I'll strike you down you stupid oaf, my face with fire lit.

I returned and shook my head flicking my thick locks.

Tiredly I lay down on the hard stony rock.

Condor my bird came and nudged me with his beak

Shall I help you to find that exclusive gift you seek?

From under his wing, he took out a beautiful bauble blue

I hope your friend appreciates the trouble I went through

A wonderful thing it is, for someone who's not your kind

A better thing she'll neither get nor have a chance to find.

This blue jewel will keep her safe, that is really for sure

Laughter, fun, joy and peace, for one who's so pure.

These are the good wishes from my family i.e. my father who made and sent the bauble with Condor, my three aunts and my pets.
