I think I can give you an analogy here. The Jews are / were a business community by and large. So they have money and they know how to save it and how to use it. After WW II in which atrocious crimes were committed against them, they have used their money and power to keep that burning issue alive. It should never be repeated again. Hence you could say they are high profile.

On the other hand, take the Tibetans. They were hounded out of their country by China in 1962. Forty years have passed. They are struggling to keep their language, their culture and their religion alive. The Dalai Lama has friends in high places but he is low profile. There is no money nor power with them. No govt openly backs them either.

u know there is this vdo in youtube entitled "off the charts"which was posted about 2 years ago.....i think its pro-palestine i havent seen it bcos its something like 28 minutes long and i have a dial-up connection...too slow 😡 the comments (there are over a 100 of those) were very interesting........one of them really caught my eye when someone was like how can a Russian Jew born and brought up in Russia have more right on a land than the palestinians who were born and raised there??? go thru those comments even if u dont watch the vdo...darn interesting....

one more thing...i think it was mel gibson who said this that if every jew who claimed to b a holocaust survivor was one than who died in the concentration camps??? something of that sort...will go thru my readers digest collection again tomorow to c what exactly was said in that interview....i m not one of those who think the holcaust never happened...u have to b both blind and a fool to beleve that but i dont know.....it seems more like a badge of honor now....v have suffered so v deserve this.....................immunity...cant think of the proper word rite now.

@Nupur.... u r rite.......the high profile part i mean.........when it comes to ethnicity and suffering than the abroginials in Australia or the native Americans and especially the African race.......apartheid, slavery.........immense suffering............ and it wasnt just death and torture...their culture, their identities were wiped out....i mean white guys out of nowhere come and start ruling u ... label your culture and religion as uncouth and inhuman and try to make u "civilized" so that generations later u r ashamed of ur own identity and past thats tragedy..

as for the second part.....thats the effect of colonization especially in the African context....the African culture was labelled as uncivililzed inhuman etc by the europeans...and thats what many africans believe about their own history..........look at the portrayal of Africans in european literature.......they come across as barbarians with no culture or civility intellect etc...last year i read a novel Things Fall Apart by chinua achebe....it was supposed to be in reaction to the european portrayl of the african culture....and his effort to tell the youth that your past is nothing to be ashamed off ...
u know what happened to africans during the colonization was a million times worse than what happend here in the subcotinent....a systematic eradication of your culture and forced impostion of a foreign way of life....this didnt happen at such a vast scale here as it did in africa.......there confusion and quest for identity and something to hold on to is far worse than our own.
