In the beginning, it was shown that, he is close to his bua jee. But, we have yet to see that close bonding between the two. He seems the happiest when talking to the Governor, and I can even see him smiling in his company. But, when it comes to others, he has this haughtiness.

Leave alone Kranti, he maintains the same aloofness and distance with his family. I never see him having any kind of interaction with his elder brother. With father, he is more like a tool to get him the Rai Bhadurship.

Even with his mother, from his side, it?s more of formal talks than the real mother-son bonding. With Sanjay, it was more of Sanjay who showed his feelings when the two were interacting.

He looks more like a brainwashed man, ten years of England?s hawa has corrupted him and his soul. May be, that is why this show of distance from everyone, and not able to connect to his own country.

He has the brains to manipulate things but not see the real picture. During the weapon?s episode, his lawyer?s skills completely evaporated. He did not put any questions to the governor to get to the bottom of the issue. He was more worried that he would have lost his life.

Also, he does not have the guts to stand for the truth, and knows the easy way to support and make the devils win. The cloak of arrogance is more to hide his weakness than the show of any real strength in the character. And, he had the audacity to say, Krantikaris are wrong in their modus operandi, when he has not followed any lawful ways to win.

On the other hand, we know everything about Kranti, her purpose in life, her past, middle and present. Raj does not even know where he is heading, does he want to be a stooge of the governor and the British government all his life.

May be that is why it?s important for Raj to fall in love madly, so that we know more about this Meano.
