CHAPTER - 4

In the evening,at almost,3.30 pm both Nupur and Mayank went out to meet each other.Nupur reached first to the appointed restaurant.She sat in the table and continued looking at her watch and waiting for him.It was almost 4 pm but there was no sign of Mayank.She thought that he might not come.She waited for some more time.At that moment,Nupur's phone rang.She picked up the call.The convo :-

N :- "Hullo Mayank tum ho kaha?"

M :- "Iam so sorry main thora late ho gaya.Vo apne ek dost ko hospital lekar jaana tha.Main abhi restaurant ke ulti taraf raste ke us side par khara hu.Maine bas ye puchne ke liye phone kiya tha ke tum waha pohoch gayi ho kya?"

N :- "Ha main yehi hu aur tumhaara intezaar kar rahi hu."

M :- "Oh ok,to main abhi aata hu."

Mayank cut the call and Nupur thought to go outside.She walked outside and waited in front of the restaurant,looking here and there on the opposite direction to find Mayank.While she was searching,her eyes fall on a handsome young man on the opposite side,who was trying to cross the road.He was wearing a blue colour T-shirt with a fade blue jeans.Nupur's heart said that it was Mayank but somewhere she was a bit confused.Mayank too noticed Nupur and his condition was just like her only.He managed to cross the road safely and reached upto her.Both were confused and were thinking how to approach each other,still Mayank managed to gather guts and asked,"Nupur?"She smiled and replied,"Ha aur tum Mayank.Right?"Mayank nodded his head.Both shook their hands and exchanged greetings.They stared at each other continuously as if it's a dream come true for them.Nupur broke the stare and said,"I think we should go inside."Mayank too came out of his thoughts and said,"Ya sure."Both then went inside.

While they were sitting,both were thinking how to start the conversation.Mayank said,"Pata nehi kaha se shuru karu kuch samajhme nehi aa raha hai."Nupur suddenly,very seriously asked,"Ye haath mein kya hua?"Nupur pointed towards the bandage on Mayank's elbow.Mayank replied,"Uh...Ye kuch nehi hai.Bas aise hi."Nupur looked at him for sometime and said,"Pata hai abhi meri itni umar to ho gayi hai ke main chehra dekh kar bol sakti hu ke kaun jhut bol raha hai aur kaun sach aur seriously you are very poor in hiding."Mayank smiled cutely in a way of giving up.He said,"Sahi kehte hai kuch aurto se chupaaya nehi ja sakta aur meri mom bhi bilkul tumhaari tarah hai.Vo actually kya hua tha ke kal raat ko hum log kareeb kareeb 11 baje hostel ki deewar phaand ke bagalwaale dhaabe mein khaana khaane gaye the.Roz roz ye hostel ka khaana kha kar boar ho gaye the,isliye."Nupur looked at him in such a way as if her eyes would just come out of the hole.She asked,"Bhaag gaye?Pakre nehi gaye?"Mayank replied,"Arey kaise pakre jaayenge,apne watchman ko to humne ekdam raw pilaakar rakkhi thi."Nupur almost screamed,"What???"Mayank replied,"Lagta hai tum kabhi hostel mein rahi nehi ho.Vaise larkiyo ke hostel mein bohot restrictions bhi hai.Hum to aksar aisa karte hai.Deewar phaand ke prime time show bhi dekh kar aate hai aur jisdin aisa karte the,usdin hum vo watchman ki pani ki bottle mein ya to neend ki goli mila dete hai ya phir unki bottle ko drink ki bottle se badal dete hai.Ye to kuch bhi nehi hai,hamaare yaha par kuch to bhaag kar larkiyo ke hostel mein bhi jaate hai,apni waali ko good night wish karne.Kal jab waapas aaye the na deewar phaand kar,uske baad mera jo room mate hai Sanjay usko apni girlfriend se milna tha,to uski madat karne ke liye bhi mujhe aur mere kuch dosto ko girl's hostel bhi jaana para.Waha se waapas aate waqt apne room ke khirki mein charte waqt thora chil gaya."Nupur said,"Tum log bohot shaitaan ho,tumhaari baate sunkar aisa nehi lagta tha.Vaise agar tumhaari girlfriend hoti to kya tum bhi aise hi jaate?"Mayank replied,"Dekho Nupur abhi ka ye jo pyar vyar hai na,isko lekar abhi koi serious nehi hai.Rahi to rahi nehi to bhaar mein jaao,aisa attitude hai sabka.Mujhe ye sab nehi chahiye,karunga to seriously karunga varna nehi karunga.Main har kisam ki relation ki bohot izzat karta hu,I dont like playng with relations."Nupur said,"Tum to is maamle mein mujhse thori alag soch rakhte ho.Maine to ye tey kiya hai ke main agar shaadi karungi to sirf love marriage.Kisi ajnabee se main shaadi hargiz nehi karungi."Mayank smiled and said,"Tumhaari jitni beautiful larki ko to koi bhi larka mil jaayega aur rahi baat shaadi ki to vo to kismat ka khel hai.Koi nehi jaanta hai ke uski kismat mein kya likha hai.Agar meri arranged marriage hui to bhi koi problem nehi hai kyuki mere parents ki bhi arranged marriage hui thi and they are very happy aur agar love marriage bhi hui to bhi koi problem nehi hai."Nupur asked,"You believe both."RMayank said,"Main shaadi par bohot vishwaas karta hu aur kabhi kisise pyar hua to jaan bujhkar kabhi usko shoka nehi dunga."Nupur like his thoughts very much.There was a kind of deepness in his thoughts but still there was nothing unnatural or fake in his character.He loves to enjoy and break the rules but with a sort of dignity.Mayank ordered two cups of coffee.After having the coffee when Mayank was about to pay the bill,Nupur stopped him and asked him nt to pay the bill.He said,"Par maine tumhe yaha bulaaya hai."She replied,"Ha bulaaya hai,par main bhi tumse milna chahti thi,so isliye tum apne coffee ka bill pay karo aur main pna hisaab baraabar."Mayank nodded his head with an impressed look.After paying the bill,both came out.Nupur said,"Main chalti hu varna agar ma aakar mujhe ghar par na dekh paayi to sawaal puch puch kar mere papa ki haalat kharaab kar degi."Mayank said,"Ek minute,main tumhaare liye kuch laaya tha."She asked,"Kya?"He handed her a gift pack and said,"Ghar mein jaakar kholna.Meri taraf se meri ajnabee dost ko pehla gift."Nupur said,"Thank you."He said,"Ok.Wait let me get you a taxi."He stopped a taxi and asked the driver to drop Nupur.Before leaving,Mayank told her to inform him when she reached home.She nodded her head and asked him to do the same and then both left.

Nupur,returned home before Seema.Jatin asked,"To kaisi rahi pehli meeting?"Nupur replied,"Achcha tha papa.Vo bohot achcha larka hai aur usne mujhe gift bhi diya."Jatin said,"Khol kar dekh na kya hai."Nupur said,"Main aapke saamne kyu kholu.Ye mera gift hai."Jatin said,"Right!Thik hai tu kamre mein jaakar fresh ho ja.Aaj maine pohe banaaye hai tere liye."Nupur returned to her room and got freshed up.After that,she unpacked the gift and found it was a nice beautifully crafted small wooden box.She opened the box and found there was pink colour powder.With the box,there was a letter also.She opened the letter.

"Kal holi hai na isliye holi ka pehla gift.Tumne kaha tha ke pink tumhaara favourate colour hai,isliye pink colour ka gulaal hi bhej raha hu.Happy holi."

Nupur looked at the colour and the box and liked it very much.Nupur understood that Mayank may be a very reckless boy but he has a kind of decent taste.It showed that he had a kind of ancient yet modern way of choosing things.He has a mixture of orthodox and modern character,so simple yet so complex just like water,so soft but it can pass though rocks.He is very difficult as well as easy to understand.Nupur had a smile on her face.
