CHAPTER - 4

[ BHUSHAN HOUSE ]

A few days later,Nupur received a phone call,from her ex-office i.e the hotel.It was her ex-boss Mr Chopra.The convo :-

N :- "Hullo."

C :- "Hullo Nupur,main Arvind Chopra bol raha hu.I hope job chorne ke baad bhi tum meri awaaz bhuli nehi ho."

N :- (surprised) "Sir aap???Aapne achaanak mujhe ab phone kyu kiya?"

C :- "Main samajh sakta hu that you are surprised now aur main ye bhi jaanta hu ke tum mujhse bohot gussa bhi ho,par us waqt mere paas koi option nehi tha.Tumhe pata hai na vo log kitne influential log hai."

N :- (casually) "Sir mujhe puraani baate yaad rakhne ka koi shaukh nehi hai aur naahi mere paas itna waqt hai.Main aapse bilkul bhi gussa nehi hu Sir,main aapki problem samajh sakti hu.Par aapne achaanak mujhe abhi phone kyu kiya?"

C :- "Yehi request karne ke liye phone kiya tha ke kya tum abhi hotel aa sakti ho?Tumse kuch zaruri baat karni hai."

N :- "Sir main vo job chor chuki hu aur ab baat karne ko kuch nehi reh gaya hai."

C :- "I know,but please ek aakhri baar ke liye aa jao.Tumne itne din yaha kaam kiya hai.Kya tum us vajah se itna nehi kar sakti?"

Nupur thought for a moment and then finally agreed.

N :- "Ok Sir main thore der mein pohochti hu."

Nupur reached the hotel within a few hours.After reaching,she went directly to Mr Chopra's cabin.She took permission and went inside.Without sitting,she asked,"Boliye Sir aapne achaanak itne dino baad kyu bulaaya hai mujhe?"Chopra pointed towards the chair and replied,"Pehle beth jaao.Phir baat karte hai."She took her seat.Chopra said,"I know Nupur ke tum bohot hi usoolowaali ho.Apne waade ki pakki ho aur kisike saamne sar bhi nehi jhukaati,par main tumse phir bhi ek request karne ke liye tumhe yaha bulaaya hai."She confusingly asked,"Kaisi request Sir?"He took a deep breath and slowly said,"Tum ye job waapas join karlo."Nupur remained spell-bound for sometime and then said,"Iam sorry sir,main ye nehi kar sakti."He asked,"Kyu nehi kar sakti?Tumhe kya lagta hai aaj ki dunia mein job milna itna asaan hai kya?Aur phir tumhi ne to kahaa tha ke tumhe apne paiso se apna dream resort banana hai."Nupur replied,"Sir job karna meri majboori nehi hai.Mujhe ye kaam karne mein achcha lagta tha,isiliye main yaha kaam karti thi.Rahi baat job ki to vo mujhe kahi pe bhi mil jaayegi."He asked,"Kisi aur jagah agar kaam kar hi sakti ho to yaha kyu nehi?"She,in turn asked,"Par Sir aaj achanak aapko meri yaad kaise aa gayi?"He replied,"Dekho Nupur,tum hamaare hotel ki sabse mehenti employee ho aur sach kahu to tumhaare bina yaha ek bhi kaam thik se nehi hota.Tum thi to sab kuch time pe sahi tarah se ho jaaya karta tha par ab sab kuch bikhra hua hai.Please waapas aa jaao.Is hotel ko tumhaari bohot zarurat hai."Nupur got up from her seat and said,"Iam sorry Sir,main ye nehi kar sakti kyuki agar main job waapas join kar bhi lu to is baat ki koi guarantee nehi hai ke jis vajah se maine ye job chori thi vo vajah dubaara dohraayi nehi jaayegi."He was about to say something,but Nupur interrupted,"Isiliye Iam really very sorry Sir.I take your leave and have a nice day Sir."Nupur,without giving any opportunity to him to say anything,left from there.As soon as she left,Mr Chopra made a call to someone.The convo :-

CHOPRA :- "Hullo ha main Arvind Chopra bol raha hu."

CALLER :- "------------"

CHOPRA :- "Iam sorry Sir,main kuch nehi kar paaya,Nupur bohot ziddi hai.Maine usey kitni baar request ki lekin usne meri ek nehi suni."

CALLER :- "---------------"

CHOPRA :- "Ji nehi Sir maine aapke baare mein usey kuch nehi bataaya."

CALLER :- "----------------"

CHOPRA :- "Ok Sir main rakhta hu."

CALLER :- "---------------"

He cut the call.

Nupur,after coming out,crossed with Aayesha,her colleague.They hugged each other and exchanged concern,since they are the best mates in the hotel.Aayesha asked,"Arey Nupur,tuney to job chor di thi,phir achaanak yaha kya kar rahi hai."Nupur replied,"Kuch nehi yaar vo Sir ne bulaaya tha."She confusingly asked,"Sir ne bulaaya?Par kyu?"Nupur told her about Chopra's and her conversation.She then added,"Pata nehi achaanak se unhe meri itni importance kaise mehsoos hone lagi."Aayesha's brows conjested,"O to ye baat hai.Ab mujhe sab kuch samajhme aa raha hai."Nupur asked,"Kya samajhme aa raha hai?"Aayesha replied,"Sir ne koi tujhe tere kaabiliyat ya tujhe is hotel ko zarurat hai isliye nehi bulaaya hai,balki kisike sifaarish par bulaaya hai."Nupur confusingly asked,"Kya matlab?"Aayesha said,"Aaj subhe jab main Sir ke yaha kuch documents sign karwaane aayi thi,to unse milne Sharma Groups of Industries ke MD Mr.Dhruv Sharma aaye the.Unhe dekhte hi mujhe Sir ne bahaar jaane ko kaha.Main bahaar aa gayi.Pehle mujhe lagaa ke shaayad business ke silsilay mein koi party rakhna chahte ho ya guests ke liye suite book karna chahte ho par phir maine socha ke in sab kaamo ke liye itna baraa aadmi khud kyu aayega aur upar se usike chote bhai ke saath tera itna baraa jhagra hua,to maine curiosity ke khaatir darawaaze par kaan lagaakar unki baat suni.Main pura thik se to nehi sun paayi par itna suna ke vo baar baar yehi keh rahe the ke tujhe unke bhai ki galti ki sazaa nehi milni chahiye."Nupur understood everything.She looked on other side and grinned,"O to ye baat hai.Isiliye mujhpe itni meherbaani dikhayi ja rahi hai."Nupur made a tight fist out of anger and then moved towards the hotel gate.Aayesha understood what will be Nupur's next step.She cursed herself for telling her and ran after her to stop her for taking any kind of wrong step,but before she could reach her,Nupur started her car and left from there.

Nupur stopped her car in front of THE SHARMA GROUPS OF INDUSTRIES office.She walked with rage inside and and reached the reception table.She asked the receptionist,"Kya main Mr Dhruv Sharma se mil sakti hu?"She asked,"Kya aapke paas appointment hai mam?"Nupur replied,"Ji nehi par mujhe unse aaj hi milna hai.Its very urgent."She said,"Par Sir abhi conference room mein busy hai aur vo appointment ke bina kisise nehi milte."Nupur said,"Jitna bhi der ho main wait karne ke liye tayyar hu.Par mujhe aaj hi unse milna hai."The determination in her eyes flashed like devil which made the receptionist's throat get dried.She asked her name and requested Nupur to wait and also assured that she will inform Nupur as soon as Dhruv returns.The receptionist informed Dhruv's secretary about Nupur.After two hours,Dhruv returned to his cabin and called his secretary and asked her to show him today's schedules.The secretary carried out the orders and after finishing that she said,"Sir,vo ek larki aapse milna chahti hai par uske paas appointment nehi hai."Dhruv said,"To isme mujhse puchne ki kya zarurat hai,tumhe pata hai na main bina appointment kisise nehi milta."She said,"Par vo larki aapse milne ke liye pichle do ghante se bethi hai aur upar se usne kaha hai ke vo aapse bina miley yaha se nehi jaayegi."He confusingly muttered,"Aisi kaunsi larki hai jo mujhse milne ke liye itni bekaraar hai?"He asked,"Us larki ka naam kya hai?"She replied,"Miss Nupur Bhushan."Dhruv looked at his secretary with a jerk out of shock.He stammered,"I-I-Nupur Sh-Sh-Bhushan!!!!!Vo yaha aayi hai?"The secretary looked confusingly towards him.Dhruv said,"Usey andar aane do."She went away.Dhruv reluctantly leaned on his chair and confusingly said,"Vo yaha kyu aayi hai?Kahi Mr Chopra ne...Nehi unhone khud kaha hai ke Nupur ko unhone kuch nehi bataaya to phir,kya baat ho sakti hai?"At that moment someone knocked on the door and Dhruv's chain of thoughts broke.He asked,"Yes???"Nupur opened the door and seek permission,"Kya main andar aa sakti hu Mr Sharma?"Dhruv didn't see her before so he assumed her to be Nupur.He stood up and said,"Welcome Miss Bhushan.Come on in and have a seat."He pointed to a chair.Nupur came inside,but without sitting,she directly looked into his eyes and said,"Mr Dhruv Sharma,I know you are a very busy man,aur faltu time mere paas bhi nehi hai,isiliye aapka aur mera keemti waqt barbaad na karte huye main seedha mudde pe aati hu."She folded her arms and asked,"Kya aap aaj CHOPRA INTERNATIONALS aaye the?"Dhruv asked,"Kya matlab?"She asked,"Matlab kya aap aaj mere hotel mein mere boss se aake mujhe waapas kaam par rakhne ko kaha?"He at first didn't understand what to say,but afer a few seconds,he,with a very stern attitude,said,"Dekhiye Miss Bhushan,pehli baat to ye hai ke vo hotel aapka nehi hai aur agar main vaha gaya bhi tha to uske dhero vajah ho sakte hai jiska explanation main aapko dena zaruri nehi samajhta."Nupur,with the same attitude as his,replied,"Mujhe koi explanation chahiye bhi nehi Mr Sharma aur aap kaha jaate hai that's none of my business too.Lekin jab koi mere personal maamlo mein dakhal deta hai,tab vo mera business ban jaata hai."He asked,"What do you want to say?"She replied,"What I want to say is that aapko mere job ke baare mein sifaarish karne ko kisne kaha tha?"He asked,"Aapko kisne kaha ke maine aapki sifaarish ki hai?"Nupur smiled sarcastically,"Main bhale hi us hotel mein ab kaam nehi karti hu lekin mujhse related koi bhi khabar mere kaano tak pohoch hi jaati hai.Aap dariye mat Sir ne mujhe kuch nehi bataaya,actually kya hai na ke main khud bhi ek business-oriented khaandaan se taalluk rakhti hu,isiliye mujhe in sab paitro ke baare mein bohot achche se pata hai."Dhruv,seeing her confidence,finally surrendered,"Ok Miss Bhushan,you win.Main isi vajah se aapke hotel gaya tha,kyuki main apne bhai ke harkato se sharminda hu,isiliye..."Nupur cuts his words,"Ye achcha hai.Ek bhai galtio pe galti karta hai aur dusra bhai un galtio pe parda daalta hai."She tightened her jaws and leaned on the table by supporting herself on her hands and said,"Listen Mr Dhruv Sharma.Maine ye job apni marzi se chori hai.Aisa koi aajtak is dunia mein paida nehi hua jiske davaab mein aakar Nupur Bhushan kisi kaam se peeche hat jaayegi,aur agar mujhe is job mein waapas join karna ho to vo main apni marzi se join karungi,kisiko mujhpe ehsaan dikhaane ki koi zarurat nehi hai.Mere abhi tak itne bure din nehi aaye hai ke mujhe kisiki sifaarish ki zarurat paregi.Isiliye..."She raised her finger on his face,"Just stay out of my matters."Saying she left his cabin.When she left,Dhruv smirked.Putting his hands inside his trouser's pocket,he said,"Vaah!Kya tevar hai!Interesting!"

[ 1 MONTH LATER ]

Nupur,by that time,got job in another hotel.One evening,she and her best friend Gunjan went for shopping.But she didn't know that Mayank and Samrat was in the same shopping mall.She was always very interested in cosmetics rather than new fashioned dresses.Her all-time favourate is the collection of trendy accessories whereas Mayank's passion is newly launched trendy imported wrist-watches.Both were busy with their own favourate sections.After doing shopping to their heart's core,they came to the main counter for the payment.There were two queues which were handled alternatively.On seeing the queue,Nupur decided to stay behind for sometime.Mayank,too,on seeing the queue exclaimed,"Oh Gosh!Kitni bheer hai."Samrat said,"Chal line mein khare ho jaate hai varna aur late ho jaayega."Mayank denied,"No way,Mayank Sharma aur line mein khara hoga,never!Is janam mein to hargiz nehi."After the queue ended,Ravi excitedly said,"Bhaag Mayank,varna phir se line shuru ho jaayegi."Mayank immediately ran towards the counter and Nupur,too ran with the same intention.Nupur was just 1-2 steps away from the counter when her feet slipped due to the slippery ground.She screamed loudly and Mayank,out of normal and instant reflex,grabbed her hand tightly and pulled her towards himself with a jerk and then held her waist tightly.Nupur,out of shock clinched his shirt with her tight grip and closed her eyes.She slowly opened her eyes and both of them had an eye-lock.After a few seconds,both came out of the shock and yelled,"Tum!"At the next moment,they realized that they were in each others arms.They both released each other instantly.Nupur shouted,"How dare you touch me?"Mayank corrected,"O hullo,ek to maine tumhe geerne se bachaaya aur tum mujhe hi aakhe dikha rahi ho?Tumhe touch karne ka to choro,tumhaare taraf dekhne ka bhi mujhe na to koi shaukh hai aur naahi mere paas itna faltu time hai."She taunted,"O really!!!Help karne ke bahaane apna kaunsa ganda iraada pura karna chahte the?"Mayank remained open-mouthed.After some seconds,he spoke out,"Kaisi ghatiya soch waali larki hai yaar.Maine tumhaari help ki bajaay iske ke tum thanks bolo,tum mere niyat pe shakh kar rahi ho.Oops!Iam so sorry,kyuki thank you to tumhaari jaisi badtameez larki se expect karna bhi gunaah hai.Tumhaare to muh bhi nehi lagna chahiye."Nupur asked,"To maine kya tumhe personally apni shaadi ka invitation card deke bulaaya hai ke aao mere muh lago?"Mayank taunted,"Arey jaao jaao,bari aayi bulaane waali."Saying Mayank put his items on the counter table and said,"Aap mere samaan ka bill banaa dijiye."Nupur forcefully replaced his items by hers and said,"Bilkul nehi aap pehle mera waala banaiye,pehle main aayi thi,vo to beech mein mera per fisal gaya tha."Mayank got irritated,"Tumhaari himmat kaise hui mere samaan ko haath lagaane ki.Fisli tum ho main nehi.Main pehle aaya tha yaha."Nupur slapped on the counter table,"O to ab main samjhi ye bachaane ka naatak kisliye tha,actually tumhe yaha pehle aana tha isiliye tumne mujhe bachaane ke bahaane se mera time waste kiya."Mayank,behaved as if falling from the sky,"Kya ajeeb larki hai,ek to bachaao aur upar se ulti seedhi gaaliya bhi suno.Listen main yaha pehle aaya tha aur tumhe bachaane ke vajah se mujhe late ho gaya.Isiliye mera bill pehle banega,samjhi."Nupur remained open-mouthed at this reply.She raised her finger on his face and said,"Ab tum apni hadh paar kar rahe ho,itna bara jhut itne saare logo ke saamne bolte huye tumhe sharam nehi aati?Mere raaste se hat jaao,main keh rahi hu."Mayank asked,"Nehi to kya kar logi?Actually you know what,galti tumhaari nehi hai,asal mein bhagwaan ne tumhe sirf ek khubsurat shakal hi di hai,baaki dimaag ke andar jo ek bheja hota hai na,ya to to uski expiry date khatam ho gayi hai ya phir vo usey daalna hi bhul gaye hai."Everyone started laughing at this statement.Nupur glared at all and then,out of anger,she stamped on Mayank's feet very hard which made him scream very badly.He somehow stood by leaning on the counter table and shouted,"Tumne mere per par kyu maara?"She too shouted,"Kyuki tumhaare jaise badtameez bandaro ke saath aisa hi karna chahiye,aur tumhaare maamle mein bhi bhagwaan ne ek bandar to banaaya lekin uski pooch dena bhul gaye.Bina pooch waale bandar kahike!"All again laughed.Mayank grinned,"Tumne mujhe bandar kaha?"Nupur bit her tongue,"Oops Iam so sorry!Maine tumhe izzat thori zyaada de di ya kaan se paidal ho?"Mayank was about to give an appropriate answer when Gunjan and Samrat interrupted in the middle.Gunjan said,"Arey meri ma please chup kar,dekho tum dono ke vajah se baaki sab log line mein khare huye hai.Unhe bhi to late ho raha hai na."Samrat too agreed,"Ha Mayank jaldi apna payment kar aur chal yahase."Mayank handed over his things to Samrat and said,"Tu jaake karva aaj to main isse saara hisaab chukta kar ke hi jaaunga,jab dekho tab public mein meri insult karti rehti hai."Nupur too did the same thing and said,"To main bhi kisise darti varti nehi hu."They left the queue side and stood apart.Nupur said,"Abhi jo bol rahe the na ke main tumhaari public mein beizzati karti hu to suno Mr Mayank Sharma,beizaat hone ke liye izzat honi chahiye aur izzat kamaai jaati hai vo tum jaise raheeszaado ko muft mein nehi milti."He taunted,"Mujhe tumse na apna character certificate nehi chahiye aur ye jo tumhaara..."He came very close to her and pointed to her nose,"Ghamand gusse ke saath naak mein hamesha charake rakhti ho na,usey apni hesiyat waalo ke saamne dikhaaya karo.Nakhchari churail kahiki!"Nupur felt like killing Mayank with her own hand.She pushed him forcefully and asked,"Main churail hu?"He was about to fall but managed to handle himself,"Ha ho aur mujhe dhakka maarti hai na...Wait!"He too pushed her.She could not believe,he would do that.She shouted,"Tumne mujhe haath lagaaya?"He said,"Ooops madam to apavitra ho gayi.Ha lagaaya kyuki pehle tumne mujhe dhakka maara tha."Nupur,tightened her jaws and moved towards him like a storm,"You..."She again pushed and he returned the same back and it slowly resulted in pressing each others throat.They were fighting like school-going kids.Gunjan and Samrat somehow cleared the bills and came running to them.They,with a lot of difficulty succeeded to free them from each others grip.They almost dragged Mayank and Nupur outside.While getting into one's car,Mayank shouted,"Tu bhaar mein ja churail kahiki!"Nupur also didn't leave a chance and shouted back,"Abbey bhaar mein ja tu,sarakchaap bandar kahika!"Both were almost pushed forcefully inside each other's car and Nupur's car was driven by Gunjan and Mayank's car was driven by Samrat back to home.
