CHAPTER – 2

Within a few days Muskaan got mixed with Nupur and Mayank.She too became a part of their life.Muskaan became accustomed to Nupur,the most.Nupur,too slowly started treating her as her own daughter.Whenever Muskaan had to call Nupur,she used to walk towards her and pull her dress.She could never speak properly but used to communicate through her gestures.Mayank could never understand her language but Nupur slowly slowly caught it up nicely.As time oassed by,Muskaan didn't have to say anything even and Nupur used to understand everything.Muskaan really brought smile and happiness in Nupur and Mayank's life.

[ 1 MONTH LATER ]

One day,Nupur and Mayank took Muskaan to a park.She saw some kids were having ice-cream.She pulled Nupur's dress and pointed to the ice-cream van.Nupur said,"Nehi beta ice-cream khaaogi to tumhe thand lag jaayegi."Muskaan went to Mayank and started pulling him.Mayank said,"Tum bohot choti ho Muskaan ice-cream kahaaogi to tumhe khaasi aur sardi dono lag jaayegi."He acted to cough and sneeze just to restrain Muskaan not to go towards the ice-cream van but unfortunately she didn't agree.At last,Nupur had to take her to the ice-cream van.She purchased one cup for each and then put some ice-cream inside Muskaan's mouth.She closed her eyes forcibly due to the cold.Nupur said,"Kaha tha na maine thand lagegi par Muskaan to meri baat sunti hi nehi hai."She could not consume much so Nupur was bound to finish up her one too.

After returning home,Nupur became busy in the kitchen for preparing dinner.After sometime,Kartik came.On seeing Kartik in the police attire,Muskaan became scared.She was playing with her doll.She took the doll and stood in between Mayank's two legs and hid her face with his shirt.She was peeping at Kartik very fearfully.Kartik,on seeing this asked,"Kya hua isko?"Mayank said,"Shaayad teri police ki vardi dekh kar dar gayi."Mayank made Muskaan sit on his lap and said,"Arey Muskaan beta daro mat main hu na.Ye Kartik uncle hai.Tum to inse mil chuki ho."Muskaan still didn't believe him and kept on staring at him suspiciously.Kartik took out a chocolate from his pocket and said,"Main to ye Muskaan ke liye laaya tha."On seeing the chocolate Muskaan's face glowed.She looked at them with wide eyes.Kartik said,"Jabtak Muskaan mere paas aayegi main to usko ye chocolate nehi dunga."Muskaan was a bit in a dilemma and looked towards Mayank.He said,"Jaao."Muskaan made a puppy face and looked towards Kartik.Slowly she started walking towards him.At that moment,Nupur came out of the kitchen and said,"Arey Kartik bhaiya aap achaanak?Bethiye main aapke liye chai naashta lekar aati hu."Kartik said,"Nehi bhabhi.main to bas Muskaan se milne aaya tha.Abhi ghar jaana hai."Muskaan found them talking and she grabbed the opportunity.She quickly snatched the chocolate from Kartik's hand and giggled with joy.Kartik was shocked and when he tried to catch her hand,she ran as fast as she could.Whenever Muskaan runs,she falls.At that time also,she fell down.But still she managed and hid beside Nupur.Nupur said,"Dekha aapne kitni shaitaan ho gayi hai.Yaha aap baate karne lage aur yaha usne aapke haatho se chocolate cheen li."Mayank asked,"Vaise Kartik Muskaan ke parents ka kuch pata chala?"Kartik replied,"Nehi abhi tak kuch pata nehi chala.Hum puri koshish kar rahe hai."Nupur said,"Muskaan hamaare saath bohot ghulmil gayi hai."Kartik said,"Achcha kiya jo aap log usey apne saath le aaye."Mayank nodded his head.After talking for some more time,Kartik left.

After sometime,Muskaan went to kitchen to Nupur.On seeing her,Nupur asked,"Arey Muskaan kuch chahiye beta?"She put her hand on her stomach and made a puppy face.Nupur looked at the clock and bit the tongue.She said,"Iam so sorry beta!Ghari ke taraf to mera dhyaan hi nehi gaya.Khaane ka time ho gaya hai na mere bachche ka.Ek minute main abhi laakar deti hu."She prepared Muskaan's dinner.Nupur made her sit above the table and put the bowl of food in front of her.Nupur held a spoonful of food in front of her mouth and she nodded her head.Mayank asked,"Arey abhi to boli bhuk lagi hai abhi kya hua?"Muskaan put her hand on her cheek and supported her hand on her knee and looked at Nupur with concentrating eyes towards Nupur.Nupur's brows raised and she said,"Ooo!To Muskaan ko kahaani sunni hai?Thik hai."Nupur started telling a story.But Muskaan again nodded her head.Everytime Nupur started a story.Everytime Muskaan cancelled it.At last Nupur started the last day's story and Muskaan clapped.Mayank said,"Ye to kalwaali kahaani hai."But no Muskaan had to listen to this story only.So Nupur told her the same story and fed her.After that Nupur and Mayank both completed their dinner.

After that at least for one hour Muskaan played with Mayank.Nupur came with Muskaan's milk bottle and said,"Chalo muskaan sone ka time ho gaya hai na.Chalo dudh peelo."On seeing the milk bottle Muskaan closed her nose making a weired face.Nupur asked,"Dudh nehi peeni??Gandi badbu aati hai?"Muskaan nodded her head in agreement.Nupur tickled in her stomach and said,"Phir raat ko Muskaan ko bohot bhukh lagegi aur phir vo royegi bhi."But Muskaan didn't drink it.Mayank took the bottle from Nupur's hand and said,"Peeyegi main dikhaata hu."Mayank straight went to the kitchen and took out a bottle from the shelf.He opened it and took out a spoonful of chocolate milk powder and mixed it with the milk.After that,he returned and gave the bottle to Muskaan.She found that the colour of the milk had changed and she became curious to taste it.When she took a sip,she found it very tasty and so she slowly emptied the full bottle.Nupur looked at Mayank and asked,"Ye kya tha?"He replied,"Muskaan ko chocolate bohot pasand hai na isliye main uske liye chocolate flavor ka milk powder le aaya tha.Isse tumhe bhi usey dudh pilaane mein asaani hogi."Muskaan didn't leave a single drop in the bottle and with a smile returned it to Nupur.After that,Nupur made her brush her teeth and then patted her to sleep.

After completimg all the tasks in the kitchen when Nupur returned,she found Muskaan still awake.She asked,"Kya baat hai beta soyi nehi?"Mayank replied,"Itni der se thapthapaa raha hu par ye to soti hi nehi."Nupur too tried but she too failed.After that Mayank took her in his arms and put her head on his shoulder and walked while patting her to sleep.After almost half an hour Muskaan finally slept.Mayank very carefully kept her in the bed in his and Nupur's middle.Nupur whispered,"Thank God ke so gayi varna mujhe to laga tha ke puri raat nehi soyegi."Mayank too whispered,"Main koshish karu aur successful na hu aisa to hone se raha."Nupur smiled and lied down beside her and slowly patted her.
