I love you (ArTi OS)
And he was late. Stuck in the middle of the traffic, brutally murdering the horn of his Honda City, here he was cursing every single element that stopped him from reaching on time. Glancing at his watch for the 10th time in the past three minutes, he swore all sorts of stuff!
"Mr. Arjun Bijlani, aaj toh aapki khair nahi. madam toh aapko seedhe oopar hi pahunchane wali hai" he thought to himself. Looking at bouquet fallen on the passenger seat, he groaned. Damn how could he be late on his own date! Once the traffic cleared, he drove at the speed of 120KMPH and finally made it safe to the beach without a scratch. He had already seen her car at the parking lot. Praying to all the Gods and Goddesses he remembered at the moment, he went ahead towards the shore.
He saw her from a distance and My Oh My! She looked good from far! He was still at a distance, when she turned around listening to his footfalls on the rough sand. No sooner did she turn than the breath in Bijlani rushed out. she looked out of the world. although dressed in a simple white Kurti teamed with black leggings and her hair tied up in a pony tail, she looked Fab! She was bare feet at the moment and had placed her black stilettos next to her.
He went and stood next to her after he had noticed her checking him out. he looked quite handsome in the plain white shirt and black jeans. Awh, color coordinated again. Seemed like coincidence had always played its charm with these charming love birds... oops, let's say friends.
He handed over the beautiful bouquet of red roses to her and said "Rati, i..." "You are late! Again!" she cut his sentence. Picking up her stilettos, she gave the bouquet back to him and walked away from him, in a slow pace ofcourse, indicating him to come after her and manaofy her. "Baby, trust me! I left home early. Phir raste mein accident..." rati turned around in horror. She walked upto him and held his hand tightly. "accident? Chot toh nahi aayi? Tum sunte kahan ho meri? Kitni baar kaha hai ke don't drive so fast. Kuch ho jaata toh?"
Arjun smiled when he saw tiny tears forming in her eyes. She cared for him, she loved him and nothing else mattered to him. Freeing his hand from hers, he cupped her face with his palms. "mera accident nahi hua rati. Raaste mein kisi ke accident ke wajah se road block tha. That took me lot of time to reach here" and as soon as arjun said this, rati breathed a sigh of relief. And she remembered she was angry with him. Moving his hands away from her face, she backed him and she sat on the shore, facing the waves, watching the golden sun getting dipped into the waters, beyond the horizon.
Arjun rolled his eyes and smiled. He loved it when she pouted in anger. She looked cute. Sitting next to her, he placed the bouquet carefully and delicately on her lap. "I'm sorry, dil se sorry, duniya ke jitney bhi sorry hain na, sab sorry" he said as he held his ears with a puppy face. This dialogue of Mayank always did wonders for them. Whenever one of them was angry, the other would just say this and magically things would get sorted out. and this time, it worked too.
Arun saw rati's lips curving into a tiny smile, as she looked at him."Ab muskuraane mein itni kanjoosi math karo. Smile na. sorry" he said and grinned as he saw the tiny smile broadening into a grin, which burst into a soft giggle. Placing his arms round her shoulders, he rested his chin on her head while she leaned her head against his chest. And then silence prevailed.
It had been so long since they had sat this way. Arjun and rati were extremely fun loving and talkative people, but when it came to dealing with each other, silence was their best companion. Their meaningful glances, their exchange of looks; their eyes did all the talking. And as time passed, their relationship from being best friends grew to become soul mates and lovers, and at this point of time, their hearts had learnt to communicate with each other, just by feeling each other's heartbeat. And that was exactly the way they were speaking right now. For the outside world, it would be just two silent people, but for them, it was a whole load of communication going on.
And their communication was interrupted when rati's phone rang. It was Navina's call. Rati looked at arjun and he just smiled and nodded and she picked up the call. "hey ratz! How's the date going haan?" okay! The teasing tone did convey the message to rati. "Kuch nahi, bass beach pe baithe hain" "what? Laithe hain?" navina said and shocked rati, causing her to go red! "nahi nahi... baithe hain... not/// whatever you said" she said as she saw arjun, who was trying to comprehend the talk between the two ladies. Navina laughed her lungs out. "Navina, tum bhi na... " rati responded as she tried to hide her smile. "awwh, you two are so damn adorable. Chalo continue karo, main disturb nahi karti. Phir agar arjun ko gussa aaya ke hum friends tum dono ke romance mein 'kabab mein haddi' ban rahe hain, toh tujhe tension hogi aur phir tu usey manayegi aur phir..." "Navina..." rati stopped her as she went on in one go. Navina kept quiet and giggled. "haan haan, rakh rahi hoon. Bah! So much hurry eh? Ok ok bye" and navina cut the call before rati could say anything more.
Cutting the call and placing the phone back in her purse, she looked at arjun who smiled looking at her. "What?" she asked him as she saw him giggle. "Kuch nahi. tum aur tumhare girl talks!" he said as he heaved a sigh. Rati smiled as she leaned to rest her head on his chest. He carefully opened out her hair from her clip and placed the clip inside her purse. He hated it when she tied up her hair. Once let lose, he ran his fingers in her hair and she loved that ticklish feel. She closed her eyes and felt cozy as they both shifted more close to each other. And after a while she spoke up.
"arjun, bhook lagi hai. Kuch khaa lein?" sitting next to her with his arms wrapped round her, he forgot that he too was hungry. He looked at her and they smiled as they got up and headed towards the chaat counter.
Having a bhel puri did make them feel better, but if one was at juhu beach, then nothing would be complete without an ice gola. Rati asked for a kaala khatta while arjun ordered for an orange flavoured one. rati was busy enjoying hers, when arjun sucked the gola from the opposite side that she had currently being enjoying. Having his face this close wasn't a new thing to her. ofcourse they had been more close and intimate than this on the sets while shooting as it was required for their scenes, but the smile on the Gola-wala's face embarrassed her and she turned more red when arjun said "haila! Rati, yeh kaala khatta meetha kabse ban gaya" and he winked at her.
Still blushing, she turned around and walked while arjun followed her and slowly walked next to her. once they were done eating, and once their hands were free, arjun placed his arm round her waist. Rati just smiled which did not go unnoticed by arjun. "kya hua? Hass kyun rahi ho?" she looked up at him and loved the puzzled look on his face. Ruffling his hair, she said "i love the way you hold me close to you"
Arjun placed his hands on his heart and very melodramatically said "haaye main toh marr gaya! Rati mere saath flirt kar rahi hai" and then burst out laughing. He expected her to pout or blush. Instead she leaned closer to him and whispered in his ears "pehli baar toh flirt nahi kar rahi hoon na" this time it was arjun's turn to go red. And after rati's giggle subsided looking at his blushing face, they went to the parking lot.
Before rati could walk upto her vehicle, arjun went ahead and informed her driver "Tum jaao. Main tumhare madam ko ghar chod doonga" the driver looked at rati for her approval and left when she nodded her head. Arjun opened his car door for her and once she sat in, he too sat on the driver's seat.
"so what else do you have in mind for tonight?" she asked casually as she dug in her purse to find her phone. "waise to hi have many things in mind, but i'm not sure if you would be comfortable if i did all those things TONIGHT" he said stressing on the last word. "Shut up Jun, i dint mean that way" she said with a mix of shock, surprise, blush and giggles on her face.
"awwh my bad!" he said in a teasing tone and when she glared back at him from the corner of her eyes, he said "okay baba,mazak nahi karunga. Seriously, i don't know. Where do you wanna go?" he said as he managed to drive out from the parking lot and now onto the main road. "no where. Lets just go on a long drive" she said and arjun nodded his head.
Aimlessly they kept driving, while she shifted closer to him and leaned on his shoulder and he would hold her in his embrace and shift the gear lever alternatively with his left hand. After about an hour, they both decided that it was time to head back home. he drove to her house and parked the car inside. She invited him over and he happily agreed.
She unlocked the door of her house and went inside with the bouquet and placed the flowers in a vase. When she came back, arjun was still at the entrance. "arjun, ander aao na. you need an invitation kya?" "nahi, im going now. It's quite late and it would be inappropriate agar main iss waqt..." he replied in an unsure tone. Rati smiled. No matter how close they were, he always respected his own as well as her principles and moral values.
She went upto him and looked at him with a loving gaze. "I love you" she said in the softest voice possible and kissed his lightly on his cheek. When she was about to move back, arjun held her face in his hold and looked into her eyes. He tucked the few strands of hair behind her ear and brushed his thumb on her cheeks. Blowing light air onto her face, he stepped closer to her. rati felt weak in her knees. She did not know if it was his masculine scent or the CK perfume of his, but it made her go dizzy. She shut her eyes tight when she felt his breath on her face. And slowly, he placed his lips on hers. But he did not kiss her. Their lips did meet, but for a microsecond and the very next moment she felt him kiss her forehead.
Rati opened her eyes but could not see very clearly since her eyes were moist she loved the way he respected her space and comfort level. A few seconds back, she would have jumped off the terrace smiling if he had asked her to, this was after all a kiss! "Goodnight Rati" he said as he turned around to go home, to which she too responded a goodnight. "erm Rati..." he called out to her before she shut the door. when she looked at him, he said "i love you too" and flashed his million dollar smile with deep dimples on his cheek.
He turned around to leave when rati tapped his back. he turned around and in a second, felt her lips on his. Quickly cupping her face, he responded with the same amount of love and passion. Unfortunately, they had to pull apart since the kiss was a sudden one and they did not have enough of time to breathe in before they started off. Quite dazed with the first kiss, rati looked back at him blushing, only to find him smiling. "next time you need to inform me so that i can breathe properly. but whoa, you kiss really well" he said and got a smack from her on his arm.
"i think that one should be enough for today. Bye. See you tomorrow" she said and went inside her apartment. "matlab kal ek aur kiss?" he asked her, as he masked an innocent look. She blushed and smiled at him as she said "Bye Jun" and arjun got his answer, after which he left for his house, all in smiles, waiting for the next day in anticipation.
