Hey Sajjal,
I kind of thought that you might write on this and what a brilliantly written post! Honourable men and women, do they even exist in today's world Sajjal? Each person we generally come across in life, they have been either not truly honest and free of any type of deceit if so then they are usually unkind. I am just sharing a picture of the world I am forced to see at times and honourable just remains something I wish to find in people but so many times left disappointed but then its life with its good and bad shades. I found what you said that one can't feel right after doing wrong, just bang on!
Coming to the men in general. Its so true and especially the way the societies are built up, men are require to bear the burden of facing any rejection after proposing. Though there may be exceptions but generally a guy is expected to ask out on a date, he should make the first move and thus he remains in the tight spot.
Now men in MJHT which I don't know Sajjal would be just the way i might have put them, they were just boys hehe! Like as per the writers, Mayank 19 and rest 18, about Uday don't know. But such ages for boys are a vulnerable age where they are learning the true virtues of a man and take the first step towards Manhood. But still from all the boys, the one who had been ahead at this development stage for me was Mayank Sharma. That said, each male character was special in its own way :)
Mayank Sharma, you have already covered everything well so I don't know what more to share Sajjal. The best part about Mayank for me has always been his sincerity, hardworking and loving nature. I especially loved the way he was when the show started, he was someone who inspired me immensely and at times I felt a little intimidated by his studious nature, the way he scored, the way he looked forward to exams. I was in my last year of law school at that time.
I know I am a little off track but this studious nature defined him. A man who would mind his own business but always ready to help whilst keeping certain clear lines. I loved the way he was and found it better to stay reserved with all besides his mum and Nupur like during the beach scene is when I saw him genuinely open up and I have always loved that scene!
About Samrat, I have always loved the way he has been there to help his friends and the way his scenes had been with Benji in particular. I have enjoyed his bonding with Benji and Nupur the most. These were friendships which were strong and showed immense trust and happiness. Simple and heartfelt, no complications, no accusations, no mistrust (generally). Samrat's selfless nature and the way he has tolerated the wrongs done to him have been a highlight.
About Uday, hehe he has been really adorable and cute, always eating how i wish I could eat like him, though I would have personally liked to see his character shown growing over time. As a brother, he has been really sweet. Sajjal don't know what more to add.
About Benji, I have loved his character though he also didn't later on get much to do in the show but his character in the short term focus it got early on did leave a strong impact. I loved how he was fun, silly, yet serious at times, could relate and understand his friends and their feelings so well. I can imagine a character like him cracking a dumb joke knowing it is silly and dumb only to make people smile and keep them happy. He was someone who had a big heart and who didn't take people's statements or any conduct to heart, but carry on with life and himself! A beautiful character.
Thanks for making this post Sajjal!
