Nupur had a Sharp mind which needed some shining and polishing
whereas Gunjan was a creative and intelligent person. Nupur and Gunjan became best friends during their first year together itself. They were totally inseparable. Due to them, both the families of Nupur and Gunjan too became good family friends. Nupur just about managed to clear her 6^th grade but later with Gunjan's support she became more and more confidant.

Gunjan used to force Nupur to be a flamboyant and aggressive in school activities which boosted Nupur's inner confidence. Nupur was a very good dancer and Gunjan used to encourage her to not keeping this to herself. She made Nupur enroll for Bharatnatyam classes.

It was their 9^th grade. One day Gunjan came to Nupur's home with a box of sweets.

"Nupsie! Nupur… where are you Nupsie?" She shouted excitedly when Nupur's mom came in the hall.

"Arey Gunjan beta. How are you? Nupur is in her room."

"Oh. Ok aunty. I'll go there." And she started walking towards Nupur's room.

"Gunjan beta, Is something wrong with Nupur? Someone said something to her?" Nupur's mom asked with concern.

"Why aunty? What happened?" Gunjan asked her mom.

"Nupur waa a bit upset when she came from school. She didn't have her food also. I thought you might have any idea. Please go to her beta. And ask her whats the matter."

"Ok aunty." Gunjan nodded and went to Nupur.

"Hey nupsie.. whats the matter? Why is your pretty face so sullen?" Gunjan asked holding nupur's chin.

"Hey Gunji. I don't feel like doing anything. I want to leave all this." She said sadly.

"Leave what? What happened? Tell me na.."

"You know Ragini teased me in front of whole academy today. She said I look like a duck while dancing. She said I'll not be able to perform in the annual Vasantotsava and no one will select a duck. You know na, it's a very huge event. I wanted to be there." She sighed and looked down.

"Hey dear, she's just jealous. Ignore her. And who says you'll not be there? Infact I have a greater news for you. You know na, my Cousin Ashwathi was there at the performance you gave in last year's annual day. Well she is a good dancer too, and she does shows. Well one of her group members fell ill suddenly when there are only 15 days remaining in her next show. She was looking for a substitute and she remembered you!! She was so impressed with you dance that she thought of asking you." Gunjan told her excitedly.

"Oh wow!"Nupur started with excitement, but then again went to her previous mode,"But, do you think I can do this. I mean I'm not professional Gunji!" she said with fear.

"Common Nupsie. Be brave. You are a very good dancer honey. Just set yourself free. And now open your mouth.." and she popped the sweet in Nupur's mouth.

As Gunjan expected, Nupur did exceptionally well in her show. She was so proud of her friend.

Nupur overcame all her inhibitions within few years. Both of them excelled with good marks in their 12th standard and both got admission in B.tech in Mumbai University.

Through all these years Nupur became very outgoing person. She was now
no more the person which she was 6 years ago. She became a smart, stylish and
trendy by the time she turned 18.

Gunjan on the other hand remained same. Gunjan still doted on Nupur and was very possessive about her. Nupur started drawing lot of attention in college. Due to her looks and attitude, boys went crazy for her on the other hand Gunjan was not at all approachable and she hardly cared about her looks. Nupur started loving the attention showered on her from her B.tech classmates. She participated in a Talent parade in College's annual function and with that she became an instant hit through out the college.

Gunjan always used to pull back Nupur to the ground and asked her not to neglect her studies. Other than Gunjan, Nupur started having her own circle of friends in college. When Gunjan and Nupur were together, Nupur's friends used to talk to her but didn't give much attention to Gunjan. Nupur did try to mingle Gunjan with her other friends but Gunjan didn't show much interest. There were lot of times when Nupur bunked her classes and Gunjan used to make a copy of
notes for Nupur too. She also helped her in her project work. As Nupur became more and more involved in other activities of college rather than studies, Gunjan became too much involved with her academics and had very few friends or one can say acquaintances other than Nupur. During 2nd year of B.tech, Gunjan and Nupur started having some arguments and fights. Nupur wanted to enjoy the college life with fun and being naughty sometimes. Gunjan on the other hand didn't approve with Nupur's thinking.

Their life started moving very fast. But the two friends didn't realize that they are not moving towards each other. They were going in opposite directions.
