Hi everyone
This is my first One Shot on MN.... Do read....
Mayank looked at the pending work for the day… it was huge.. He knew that without completing it, he cant go home.. Its already 11:30PM, its not the first time that he stayed back at office whole night to complete the task. But today, he is feeling something missed in his life and unable to concentrate the way he used to. His mind, clouded with many thoughts, not letting him to do his work…That morning he took the resolution of not talking to her. This is nth time he made such resolutions which he never managed to stick by, but this time he wants to be firm. Thts the reason why he is in invisible mode in the yahoo messenger. Suddenly something on his toolbar caught his attention, it is blinking. With his heart pounding, he clicked on it. It is from her, a "hi". He, for a moment, thought whether to respond or not.
It all started when they were in Engg. They were classmates. On the day of joining, he was asked to get some girl's details as part of the ragging. He went to ask a girl, thts the first time they met each other. At that moment, he came to know that this girl is also from his native place, that played an important role in making them gud friends soon. She is not that pretty, but has got a charm tht catches everyone's attention. Whenever they get vacations, they travelled together. Mayank always bettered in studies and used to help her whenever she has doubts. As they say, time has magic to do anything.. Mayank started to love her, but never dared to express the same to her.
One day, she came to him and said tht Mr kiran has proposed her and she wants his opinion. It was like a bolt from the blue for Mayank. Suppressing his feeling, he said "Its your call, you take the decision" and went away from there. The girl felt Mayank's behavior bit weird… He always used to help her in deciding what is good and what is bad.. She knows that Mayank has got good analyzing skills..Today, she was clueless as to why Mayank could not give her his view… the girl thought on her regarding kiran's proposal and decided not to accept.
It was their farewell day and everybody was busy filling autograph books and hugging. mayank's friends forced him to disclose his feelings atleast now, but he didn't as he was scared tht he might miss a gud friend.
After that they both got jobs, but in different locations. Mayank used to feel alone being away from her. The more he tried to move away, the deeper her thoughts used to grow.. Hiding your feelings deep in your heart will give you pain than soothing.. A moment without thinking about her is difficult to find in his dairy.. He couldn't contain the feelings anymore and decided to let his heart pour its feelings.. On one day when they came for vacation, he met her and expressed his feelings.. That moment when he expressed his feelings and when he dedicated his heart's musings to its rightful owner, he felt light like a feather… and now waiting to see her reaction. She, for a moment stuck with surprise, asked him to give some time to think. That night seemed endless for Mayank.. he was using all his permutation and combination skills to arrive at all the possible answers she could come up with.. Next day she came to him , he was all ears and waiting for the answer with bated heart.. she took a pause and analysed Mayank for a while.. and told her response.. It was a shock for Mayank… his heart beat skipped for a while … she told that it is not possible for her to love him … The only ray of hope at the end of the tunnel is, she told that she doesn't want to lose a friend like him. So, Mayank, for a moment thought and told, "ok, I will try to be the same old good friend of yours".
But Mayank still has feelings for her. How is it possible for a person to forget his/her beloved when they are still in constant touch with each other and treat his/her like a friend. He tried many ways to forget her, but cud not. He feels that somewhere in the corners of her heart, she may have feelings for him.. He thinks that its just matter of time for her to reciprocate ..
Again, the tool bar blinked, "Are u there?".
Now keeping aside his resolution, Mayank responded... "ya buddy"
One more time he failed, but everytime, he does so, he enjoyed it.
Mayank is still optimistic that she would reconsider her stance and come into his life… He is ready with his arms wide open to welcome her..
